Big parking lot where you have a nice view on the lake. Pretty quiet, nice wake up with the sound of the birds and had the visit of a pig eating the trash!

Sandy Bluff next to the beach, south of the shipwreck, about 2km. No fee and pretty much the same coast. You can access the rocky beach easily.

ridiculously overpriced, but still kind of worth it. $75 per night with power, no water because it is winter operations. At the moment anyway, it's about half full and they are doing a good job at spacing people apart. The bathrooms are probably the nicest you'll ever see, each unisex room has a giant shower toilet and sink with nice finishes. The spots are big enough to fit two vans, which is what we did, and makes it feel a lot more worth it. I'm looking at the positive but yeah, the price is outrageous, and I think there's better ways to do business.

As described by britta_borderless further down below.
If you follow the given instructions, no complications at all, very friendly staff.
We received the visas/our passports the day after we first visited the embassy to fill in the application form (you need to enlist an adress in Côte d'Ivoire, but are not required to show a hotel reservation, so you can just pick something up from the Internet, we guess.)

Less crowded than Magnolia Beach. Washroom across the way is fairly new and kept clean. Small beach right outside the door.

Fabulous views, very easy access (I wouldn’t call the access road bumpy at all). The big problem is mosquitoes!! We thought we could relax outside with spectacular views but were eaten alive so had to retire to the van.

You need a tent or a self-contained actual RV to camp here. The caretaker will come by if you only have a vehicle/campervan to let you know that you need to set up a tent. You cannot run electric cords into a vehicle that isn’t an RV. Other than that the non-electric spots are free and the electric spots are $15. There is a bath house with a shower in it. Free firewood, playground, trails. The caretaker has two ofd-leash dogs that wander around but are friendly.

Flat surface to camp for the night. The lot is for sale.
At the very very top of the hill, excellent view of the sunrise and sunset.

Not a soul in sight except for 5 cows

Road is extremely steep, 4Lo highly recommended.

As described. Totally empty when I stayed. Some road traffic in morning and evening from nearby residential area and lake access. Pit toilets and running water were both functional. Undisturbed the one night I stayed. Great, easy site.

After reading so many bad experiences about tours we decided to go to Amantaní in our own and stay in there with a local family.
We contacted Máximo, who lives in Amantaní with all his family, and he did unique our experience helping us with everything.
He came to Puno to collect us and we went together to Amantaní (from Capachica) in a colectivo boat. Once in Amantaní he showed us the island (Pachamama and Pachatata), he explained the way of living of the island and he even took us in a walk around the plantations explaining us everything. It was so interesting and enriching. We then stayed at his house with his family. It was 70soles pp including a night, a meal, a dinner and the breakfast (it was everything homemade and delicious, made with the season vegetables). The price of the boats and mototaxis were appart but in total we paid around 140 soles pp (including the 70soles pp) it’s maybe not a big difference comparing to the guided tours but is totlly sorth visiting the island this way, as it is a completely real experience.
Here I let you Maximo’s daughter’s contact (as in Amantaní there is no signal and it’s better contacting his daughter in Puno)

Great spot for the night. Beautiful sunset. And you may wake up to a hot air balloon overhead. It can get crowded since this is one of the few designated camping spots in Sedona.

Nice spot. Can get close to the water. Seems to be enough room for two vans. Has a fire pit and trashcan. Can stay up to 14 days. Still had decent service with tmobile.

Clean, quiet, and discreet. in back of the Bass pro shop there's another overlander in a van here and it looks like one or two car campers. I'm traveling alone, female, and I feel very safe here.

Nice clean campsite with walls for wind protection, BBQ area at each campsite and some have a table with electric and a light. WIFI available.
You can hear noise from the road but there isn't much traffic during the night.
$6000ARS $7USD for two people in one tent for a night.

So quiet & fairly secluded. Level ground & decent signal. There's plenty of places to park here. I drove past the fire pit to get a little more cover from the road with trees.

Great little spot by a park. we got in at 830pm. park lights were shut off shortly there after and it was quiet throughout the night. some road noise in the morning starting around 6am. there were a few others parked here as well, a schooling and another van. I made dinner before the lights in the park were off and kept it quiet and stealthy the rest of the night. no issues and I felt safe.

Did not stay here as the price is $45 USD per night plus $25 USD if you want electricity. Too expensive and they don’t even have a proper shower. Only outside open shower.

After being on a small ferry for two days this is the place I went to give myself a treat. It's a great accommodation with western standards, a restaurant and a massage. The owners and the staff are extremely friendly and speak English fluently. I'm satisfied with every aspect of the accommodation. After two weeks on Kalimantan and Sulawesi it's great to finally have something in that level. The price for a two bedroom apartment is 650.000 and worth every penny. Breakfast included.

Everything easy at this border. If you are early at this border you probably will have to wait until 9:30am or even 10 until the one, who can put the exit stamp into your passport has arrived.

Great spot to fill up on water. Multiple taps outside with good pressure. Car can't get closer than 5 meters so need long hose or buckets.

Shower in male toilet was stolen so only a hose without shower head.

Stayed one night, tiny campsites squeezed together. Beautiful thick lawn, electricity and braai facilities. Ablutions clean with hot showers. Paid R350 for two people for the night. Security top notch and safe like you can’t believe. Would definitely stay here again just for the night as a stopover. Still a bit pricy though.
