Did not stay here as the price is $45 USD per night plus $25 USD if you want electricity. Too expensive and they don’t even have a proper shower. Only outside open shower.

Report Check-In

This very lovely small resort with beach and pool will allow smaller overlanders to camp. Price is slightly negotiable. Out of respect I won’t disclose what I paid. But very reasonable especially considering they will give you water, electricity and access to all their amenities! Please ask first and know that they can only do this when they aren’t full. As a special note let me say they welcome my dog too.

Report Check-In

They now charge $45USD ($90Blz) for two people in a camper + $20USD for a child (see photo).
On top of it, they expect you to eat and drink in the restaurant and the girl at the reception has an attitude. When I said that it is a bit pricey for us and that we will look around and see if we can find something more affordable, she rolled her eyes and said that people usually pay the price. We didn’t stay.

Report Check-In

its 45 US $, no matter if 1 or 2 person + 20 US $ for a child

Report Check-In

... unbelievable, but true: they nearly doubled their rate in 1 week. They ask now 45 USD (not Belize Dollar). Therefore you got a small parking lot on a gravel parking (Sandflies included)... free WiFi; possibility of a tiny shower and... at least you have access to their beach (full of seaweed) but...including a towel... 😉

Report Check-In

this place is a scam, the price is just cheeky

Report Check-In

First of all this is not an “established campground” so needs redesignating as this is a car park for a hotel. Secondly DO NOT COME HERE! The guy has increased the price to USD $45 per night as of this week. Saw 2 other overlanders who paid for one night and then left! Tried to charge us USD $10 for electricity for 2 hours. You get pool access and free bikes, but be under no illusion that this is $45 per night for dry camping.

Report Check-In

This is the Small Car Parking area of an Expensive Hotel. it is not a camp site and cannot be treated as such. You are asked upon arrival to be respectful of the Hotel guests who have paid a lot of money to stay their. You are also expected to eat some meals in their restaurant. All of this is made clear to you either prior to arrival or upon arrival.
unfortunately whilst we were there a European family failed to follow these rules and treated it like a camp site, openly cooking meals in view of the guests, taking up several of the very limited parking areas and drying washing on the guests volleyball net. They were asked to leave. I fully expected the owner to stop taking Motorhomes after this experience . However, it looks like he is still allowing campers but at a much higher price being 45 usd per couple and 20 usd per child. this is a great shame as its a really nice place to stop and probably the only place that close to Placencia town

Report Check-In

50$ belizien, super friendly and Nice place to chill
Bikes and kayak for free

Report Check-In

now 25 US $ for the beautiful place. for electricity you have to pay more. Here you are treated like a normal hotel guest. There were probably too many campers and therefore the price increased to 25 US dollars, which we do not like. it's to high now. But is the only reasonable place in Placencia at the moment?

Report Check-In

Very nice place. Our plan was to stay one night in Placencia and because this place we stayed 3 night “lol”.
Is like a small resort, with beach front, swimming pool, water, bathroom, restaurant, bike and kaiak rental for free.
We paid usd 20,00 per night (2 adults+ 2 kids).
The food here is gorgeous but pricey.

We spent the new years dinner in this place and was really cool. Fireworks, live music, etc… memorable

Report Check-In

Quel magnifique endroit.

What a wonderful place. You really feel in a resort! 20$us for a van per night, three people. We then have access to the toilets which are very clean, in the parking lot, to the showers, to the swimming pool, to the beach, to the kayaks, sups and to the bicycles! 3.5km from the village, it is ideal to go there by bike because parking would not be easy. I highly recommend, it's heavenly and the staff is really friendly!

Report Check-In

Nice location with very nice staff. Now you have to pay 20 dollars per night. Not free if we eat, so we did not try the restaurant

Report Check-In

Wonderful Resort, fantastic staff!
toilets super clean. shower super mini without a light, so I had to let the door open.
really fantastic place.
But: A lot of "no see hims", that's really the only bad thing. stayed 2 nights and had a lot of bites. but in Placencia Town it's the same...

Report Check-In

We stayed 4 nights here in our car and it was awesome! We came in low season so we were almost the only ones in the hotel. Miguel and the staff are really nice and they treated us very well as a normal guest. They even gave us the lats night for free. Potable water, towels, bicycles and kayaks are available whenever you want. We were cooking our own meals most of the time and tried to eat at the restaurant when we were using the area. The food is really good and they have good local plates for 10 USD. Cocktails are really expensive but very good also. There are not many chances to stay in a place like this with your campervan so would absolutely recommend it!

Report Check-In

Camped here and the facilities are great - it’s like staying at a resort. Access to pool on the beach, kayaks, wifi, and bikes. Under new ownership and they charge 20 USD per night for a vehicle (my partner and I). Wifi is decent. They encourage you to eat and drink there, but it isn’t a string requirement and they are monitoring. Luis is the new owner from Augusta Georgia. The hotels in the area are very expensive so I consider this a fair deal.

Report Check-In

Sounded great, but they only take one overlander at a time, so we couldn't stay. Suggesting to have a back-up plan when coming here spontaneously.

Report Check-In

Such a great place! Everyone make you feel welcome. Access to bathrooms, outside showers, the swimming pool and seats in front of the beach. Excellent wifi. You can park the car in the shadow of the trees and sleep comfortable there in a quiet place. We had dinner one night (we shared one plate of chicken fingers with french fries and one beer for 32 bz) and breakfast another day (two coffees and two toasts for 12 bz). We stayed two nights. You can go to have lunch or dinner as we did to the centre of placencia where we ate three good tacos for 3,5 bz and a great burrito for 4 bz

Report Check-In

We found all as discribite before. Highly recommend!

Report Check-In

We stayed here for two nights and had an awesome time. It’s still free but they are happy when you eat at the restaurant.

It’s a beautiful area with a pool, beach volleyball field and a lot of spots to relax and enjoy the carribean. You can use the stand up paddle boards, kayaks and the snorkeling equipment (for free). Wifi is good but make sure to park near the building if you want wifi in the van.

Luis the owner and all of his employees are very friendly nice guys! You feel really welcome.

Just as tipp: be careful when you go into the ocean, even near the beach. There are sting rays. My wife was stung by one. Really painful but the staff was really helpful!

Report Check-In

Wau what a perfect place to stay overnight and spending some time at the beach and in the pool. One of the best place so far, we highly recommend it. Clean, friendly people and good food.
Just asking the owner Lewis and hi will show you everything. Hi just asking to eat at the restaurant from the hotel . We got served at the beach and felt in paradise. Thanks Lewis

Report Check-In

Not open for camping on August 2, 2021. Responsive on Facebook messenger if you want to reach out to check before you travel there.

Report Check-In

The place is really quiet and clean. The owners seem nice but didn’t get the chance to talk much to them. You don’t pay but have to have at least one meal a day, which if you’re traveling in a tight budget, it’s not cheap. Food is really tasty but I would definitely not say the portions are big, above all if you’ve already traveled in Latin America. By those standards I woul say portions are small and by european standards I would say regular sized portions. As it goes for costumers, at least at this time of the year, it was retired ir over 60.

Report Check-In

Really nice spot! Beautiful beach and it’s nice and quiet. Friendly owners and the staff were exceptional!
We stayed 2 nights and had a really nice dinner the first night then a breakfast the next morning. Portions were big and everything was really good.
The dogs are very protective of the office area and when walking by we got charged by two of them and also saw the same thing happen to others. Anywhere else on the property the dogs are very friendly.
Overall a good stay

Report Check-In

Nice & clean place, very lovely, close to the ocean, friendly staff & friendly Bruce.
Laundry service was expensive. We had one bag of dirty clothes, but they put it on two maschines. They charged us twice: !! 2 x 25 B-$ !!! Puuh!
Food was excellent, but nothing for hungry persons ...
We saw 3 dolphins jumping close to the shore.

Report Check-In

As others have described. Very welcoming. Amazing food. Good for a day or two. But I suggest renting a room if you stay longer as it’s not a campsite and that is the nature of the business. Sharon and Bruce are sweet and lovely people.

Report Check-In

Agree with all the previous reviews: clean restrooms, nice outdoor shower, lovely pool and good food at the restaurant. Typical Belizean prices. Still the same situation, you can park in exchange for a meal a day. Dog friendly, there are 2 dogs on the property and a neighbor's dog that comes over. The neighbor's dog was ok with our dog, but did charge at my husband one morning, didn't bite but did act aggressive. Recommend. They do ask that you try and email ahead of time, especially during the busy season (December-April).

Report Check-In

We had the best time there. Where to start?

Sharon and Bruce are absolutely lovely and the staff is a perfect mix between friendly and attentive.

The facilities are just amazing: the pool and the beach are wonderful, with shades from the palm trees growing on the property. You can go snorkeling right from the beach: there are corals, squids, fishes, barracudas...The beach is cleaned every morning by the hotel’s staff.

Restroom are spotless clean as well as the open shower. We often had the whole area for us alone since we were the only campers and the hotel was not full.

The deal is: you eat a full lunch/dinner at the restaurant and you can sleep for free. And it is a very good deal since the food is excellent - we loved everything we tried. The cocktails are quite good also. For a lunch (2 mains + free water) count between 32 and 45 BZD.

To sum up: it has been a real 5 stars hotel experience for us, with the little difference that we have been sleeping in our van - highly recommended.

Report Check-In

This place is a gem, we had a hard time leaving! The owners, Sharon and Bruce, are very welcoming and quickly made us feel part of the community. The food is delicious and the best quality we found in and around Placencia. Definitely worth the price. Attentive and kind staff, well kept grounds, and great pool/lounging area. Highly recommended!

Report Check-In

It is free to camp with the only condition that you consume one meal per day at their restaurant. The food and drinks were pricey but incredibly delicious. They let us use the pool, shower (not private), WiFi, and other facilities. Owners and all staff members extremely friendly and attentive. Great place to relax but definitely not the cheapest for those on a tight budget. Would recommend!

Report Check-In

Wow. What a deal. The camping is free but they ask you to each eat a full meal once a day at the restaurant. Keeps the staff busy, and happy. Make sure to email prior to arrival as parking is limited. No big rigs please. Truck campers are the limit.

The portions are huge and bar well stocked. We spent 4 nights and averaged $40 Bzd / day including 2 meals. The food is really fantastic which makes it even better

3 dogs on site and they warm up eventually. Power available if you park close to the palapa. $15bzd / day for power including A/C.

2 Miles to grocery store in sein blight. And 1.5 Miles to Placencia village. Perfect place to break out the bikes and stretch your legs.

Report Check-In

This is by far the best spot we've had in Belize.

We felt very welcome by the owners.
We wrote Sharon and Bruce an email a few days before our arrival, which they really appreciated (but is not mandatory). During our stay Sharon literally mentioned like three times that that we are more than welcome in the resort. Probably only our experience because we got lucky: We were even invited for lunch twice, once because they had the anniversary of their resort, once because they made a promotion video and we were asked if we wanted to join.

We usually travel veeeery low budget, but this place is something I would not like to have missed. For what you get in return, the prices of the restaurant are fine, especially for Belizean price standards. Just eat there once a day. Vegetarians: there is a poolbar menu (~7-12 USD) for lunch, which offers really nice vegetarian options. Dinner menu (~16 USD) is not really vegetarian friendly.

We stayed 5 days and really enjoyed the resort lifestyle. Hammocks, pool and spectacular sunrise every day.

Report Check-In

We stayed 2 nights for free, they only asked for eating once per day in their restaurant. Food was not cheap but delicious. Water BZ$ 5,00

Report Check-In

Good news: the road from Hopkins to here was paved about one year ago.

Report Check-In

Camping on the gravel parking lot, use of toilets (flush / with TP) and pool (with cold shower, but no curtain) and beach.
In exchange the owners expect you to eat in the restaurant at least once a day.
Electricity = 15 BZD per day
Water fill up = 5 BZD (no matter what quantity)

pros:
- beach well cleaned and taken care off
- nice pool area to hang out
- food for US/Canada standards ok
- restaurant in a big palapa with a nice outdoor feeling
- toilets super clean
cons:
- didn’t really feel welcome by owners, rather tolerated
- we had better food at local restaurants and especially drinks/desserts are too expensive
- price for electricity too expensive unless you have a huge rig with AC and all

Report Check-In

Just as Globally Routed describes. Wonderful owners, you’ll get a warm welcome! Camping is for free, they ask you to eat a meal per day at the restaurant. We ate diner there 4 times, the meals are delicious. The chef was in Italy for three years and you can taste that in his food.
Our dog liked the place so much. He was introduced to the 2 furry ladies from Mariposa and the furry male Junior from the neighbors and they get along really well. He could run around free and really enjoyed the beach (when the cat was inside, but dogs that are go well with cats there’s no problem).

Report Check-In

This is a spectacular place. We stayed 3 nights in the parking lot facing the beach shaded by the palm trees. The Canadian owners, Sharon & Bruce, allow iOverlanders to stay for free, asking that you eat one meal per day at their restaurant. You have access to the pool, immaculately clean bathrooms (as clean as we've seen anywhere in the world), fast wifi, an outdoor cold shower, superb food, beautiful grounds... We ran an extension chord to our van so we could have the fan running at night. Some Overlanders have pointed out that the food prices are a bit high, but the portion sizes and the quality of the food are absolutely spectacular. We dnid't want to leave. There is enough room for 4-5 iOverlanders in their parking lot. If you visit during the high season (Dec-April), it's best to call or email ahead to reserve a spot. +501-523-4474 email: [email protected]

What an amazing place ! The best one we had in 4 months. You can enjoy a very pretty place with a nice pool in front of the sea. And what we asked to us as a paiement ? To eat once per day in the restaurant. OK with pleasure ! Food is really good and reasonably priced. Paradise !!!

Report Check-In

Fantastic spot. Stayed three nights, resort living out of your car :)

Report Check-In

Stayed for 2 nights and it’s a convenient place. Pool is great, restaurant too pricey for what you get. Internet goes well.
From Belmopan it’s a 300 km round trip, so you have to consider if it’s worth the effort to visit only this town.
It’s a hot dusty town, with some small shops and restaurants, nothing special.
It’s an area where lots of Americans and Canadians go.
Huge development of hotels and houses make Placencia and other villages losing their caracter.

Report Check-In

Stayed 3 wonderful nights. Everything as stated below.
Water is drinkable!
We didn’t see anywhere to plug in but didn’t ask either.
We caught a few taxis back and forth to Placencia for 5 usd-7.5 usd.
Also used GoSea to snorkel Silk Caye. Expensive but well worth it. They provide the gear, lunch, water, towels, life jackets and are very prompt and friendly. They will pick you up from the Mariposa.

Report Check-In

As described before, the best place to camp in Belize. Bruce and Sharon are very friendly and manage the place very, very well. Superb beachfront, nice pool, super clean bathrooms, good pressure showers, restaurant, bar. The food is very good and reasonably priced. Nice place to meet with relative and friends as well, they can fly in and stay in comfortable rooms or tree houses while you camp for free.

Report Check-In

As previously described, a great place to camp. The best in Belize. Run by a Canadian couple from Calgary, that make you feel like family.

Very pleasant spot steps from the beach. Nice pool. Rather long walk to town but restaurant there is good if a little pricey. we ate dinner there twice and breakfast once - great steak! Wifi generally very good though not the best signal in the parking lot. Still free with meal pp.

Report Check-In

For the family with a little budget : just a very good lime-pie/pers, it is ok for enjoy this place with lot of facilities !

Report Check-In

Very nice place direct at the beach with Hammoks, Chairs, Pool and Plugs to charge your stuff. Sharon and Bruce are super friendly and welcoming. The Place is "for free" when you have a meal per person and day of stay. We would recommend the huge breakfast (Belizian Slam) which is between 15-23 Bzd + 5 for a coffee with free refill. The Burger was also good in the lunchtime (about 24 BZD with fries). We got a key for an empty house on their property to use the bathroom with hot shower. Furthermore as their was a Tsunamiwarning when we were there, they offered us to stay in one of their treehouses for free! Recommend place and worth to visit!

Report Check-In

Great camping spot in Placencia. As they said before, 10BD for electricity and consumption of one meal per day (good burgers and quesadillas). Sharon and Bruce where super nice, very friendly hosts and always willing to help. Nice and clean toilets, cold outdoor shower.

Report Check-In

We arrived for a night and stayed four. These are the rare gems that remind us that there is much goodness in the world. The Mariposa is a beautiful lodging with rooms, cabañas, bar and restaurant. There are bathrooms, outdoor shower, a dog wash! and ocean front.
Wednesday is Yahtzee fun, they will rent a golf cart and do laundry for a fee. We are very grateful for this location at this time in our trip.
Paid $10Bzd for electricity for AC and ate 1+ meal each per day. A bargain at this! Such great hosts and such kindness.

Report Check-In

Lovely place! Highly recommend. Bruce, Sharon and their staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. We stayed with our 2 dogs for 5 nights and have not felt more welcomed or "at home" since leaving the states. Immaculate property! Wonderful stay and we had a hard time leaving.

Bruce and Sharon are great.

Property and food - fantastic.

Electricity may be available for a fee.

Report Check-In

Beautiful place, Sharon and Bruce are extremely welcoming, the pool was refreshing, showers were outdoor and the food was delicious. Free camping but you have to purchase one meal per day you stay - the food was a bit pricey for the shoestring budget but compensated for staying anywhere else as the town overall is pricey. The whole property is immaculate. Strongly recommend it!!

Report Check-In

Butch, the owner, allowed us to plug in near the bathrooms with or long extension cord. We paid as the restaurant was closed for repairs and wanted to stay a few days but felt bad about staying for free given the typical policy, but he implied it was fine. Just felt right to pay something for the use of electric. It was very quiet and the pool was pristine and the beach even more so. Lovely place, highly recommended!

Report Check-In

Place is as described, beautiful and clean with friendly owners. Camping is free with a meal in the restaurant, we were told electricity is available for a fee. Egg breakfasts range between US$8 and $12, lunches (available all day) between US$8 and $12 without fries, dinners US$14 and up; full bar.

Report Check-In

We arrived Thursday, at this day the restaurant is closed.very friendly owners, let us camp for free, we could use the facility and had this beautiful place for us, nobody els there.

Report Check-In

All people are totally right if they said the place is more than wonderful. Camping is for free on the parking lot close to the main house. But you have to eat in the restaurant. The restaurant is really expensive, pasta for 17 US$ (34 BZ $), Steak for 30US$ and, so sorry to say that, the quality was not okay, less than average. So we can not recommend this place, on the end of the day it is to expensive for what you receive.

Report Check-In

great location, wonderful beach, good restaurant, nice owners

Like everybody said before....one day Holiday in Belize!!! Nice Parking lot for not to big rigs....nice beach with superclean pool and Restromms accessable direct from the lot....
Beautiful!
The deal is real good and worth to do: eat dinner in the Restaurant stay one night for no charge! And the dinner was the best food we have had so far in Belize...shure it is not "cheap"...but what is cheap in Belize????A youghurt at the chinese supermarket costs you 3 Us dollar....unbelievable, but true!!!!!
so relax here...and don't think about it.
We have to say a great thank you to the Owners....that they make this "holiday" day possible!!
THANK YOU FOR THAT PLACE!!

Report Check-In

This place is fantastic, hosts/owners Bruce and Sharon are so nice and welcoming, and said that they welcome future overlanders since they are former Canadian campers themselves. Their beautiful boutique resort is beach front with snorkeling right off the each- fellow overlanders saw a manatee while we were there. Beautiful pool, immaculate bathrooms for overlanders to use in parking area, very nice outdoor showers. Wifi was excellent in restaurant. No charge with only request to eat meals at restaurant, Food was delecious and staff was awesome. Cannot recommend highly enough! Thank you Bruce and Sharon!!
