Nice forested campground in Provincial Park, $20 Canadian per night, pit toilets, water pump. Many mosquitoes. Interesting waterfalls and hiking trails nearby.

Pyramid Campground 51.97048, -120.11608

Lots of campers but quiet. I don’t think you need to ask for permission. Seems to be set up for overnighters.

Cracker Barrel Restaurant 41.60131, -93.78048

Simple but efficient and with all you need to reset during your overlanding trip. We used it because we were shipping with overland embassy but loved that we had access to shower, work room with wifi and AC, cleaning of the car, mechanics , etc… and much more.
In a big city it was awesome to get recommendations to find everything we needed for fixing the car and find info in Panamá.

Perfect place to leave your car to visit Machu Picchu. Easy walk to the train station or to town. If you have a big rig we would recommend to take the road along the river starting just outside Ollantaytambo. So you don't have to drive through the centre. Perfect for any kind of car/van/truck. And beside of that Alexandria and Simeon are really nice people. They welcome everybody and really depend on people coming to them. They have power, water, banos, shower and yummy empanadas. Enjoy.

Rey Inka -13.25646, -72.28012

large gravel parking, no no-overnight camping signs, some people in the evening and in the morning who come to walk their dogs, but we had a quiet and calm stay there

Parc de la Baie 45.45790, -75.68918

Really nice stay. Several spots with picnic tables and fire pits right along the river. Two boat launches, two pit toilets and large trash collector. Very quiet, only 1 fifth wheel camper neighbor. I car camped in a FWD Hyundai hatchback. Absolutely no cell service with Visible.

Bighorn Fishing Access 45.41455, -107.78982

An out of the way RV park on the beach. For those that this is their destination, it's a nice little RV park. Power was stable, 15amp service used. For those that are passing through, it's out of the way.

Lots of bugs due to the season.

Beach was fantastic to go swimming at.

Knox offers a 1-day guided tour of lilongwe, including the local markets, historical sites, view points and wildlife centre (he can tailor the itinerary too). Born and raised in Nyika National Park and now living in Lilongwe, he’s very knowledgable about Malawian history, culture and loves to share - he’s the best story teller I’ve met! He’s incredibly friendly, and a great way to visit the Malawi’s capital with an enthusiastic guide!

I put the location slightly at random - he’ll meet you at your accommodation, airport etc whatever’s convenient.

Knox’s WhatsApp: +265 993 49 86 75
You can also find Knox on ToursByLocals but cheaper to message him directly:

Knox can also help with multi-day trips too (Ntchisi, Lake Malawi, Liwonde, Nyika).

Basic canpground, some spots up the hill are more private, some are basically in the parking lot beside the public lot so can get noisy and busy. But great views of the lake

cumberland lake park campground 49.62807, -125.08623

Very nice place. You can’t hear highway traffic although there’s gonna be trains rolling by very frequently. Other than that quiet and scenic.

Crown Land - Forest Service Road 51.52833, -117.43498

nice big flat pullout roughly 100m away from the main road. almost no noise unless guys tuned their exhaust system. many fire rings and east oriented so the sun wakes up nicely to your windows. many small water streams around that we drinked from with no issue. nothing fancy but we enjoyed 1 night here. 2wd accessible easily, could fit at least 3 vans still keeping some privacy

Nice place to sleep before or after the visit of Calakmul. We stay here with a 4wd camper and a tent. It is very quiet!

Wow what a show! We really recommend it. It cost 75 pesos for adults and it is free for children. You need to arrive around 1h before sunset.

Bats Cave Show 18.52093, -89.82509

I paid 20Q parking 40Q entrance and camping. a bit expensive I think. from 7am to 14pm there is a watermotor that take water from the lake that is incredible noisy. the water was not to clear, because the lake was not full, is the end of dry season. If you have a drone you'll take awesome photos.

Important: be careful with the caws, one of the eat a big bag where I had vegetables and fruits 🤦🏼‍♂️

Volcan Ipala 14.55396, -89.64499

Prices are still the same as described below. There is a restaurant so it is possible to eat-in. Food was good - Indian type. Good place to stay overnight.

Buzwagi View Hotel -3.83723, 32.63486

We stayed at Valentine's garden for total 2 weeks. We needed to fix our van and he helped us connect with car garages and mechanic around the town.

He will let you stay for $5 a day (as of Jun 2023) or the equivalence of $ARS, or for a monthly basis. I heard other overlanders sometimes leave their van here for a few months and they go back to their country. There's a lot of space!

He was a super super friendly guy, and we had so much fun together! If you have any problems, he will definitely try his best to help you.

We basically slept in our van but he let us use his bathroom, shower, wifi, electricity etc.

He speaks a little English, enough to communicate. (the translater app will do the rest)

He also has a friendly pup called Negura. Loves to play with you.

Overall, highly recommended!

Valentin Camping -33.05745, -68.54864

This place badly rip you off. Foreigners should not go there. All staff corporate very well to overcharge you. To change engine oil paid over US $200.
The handwritten invoice was not clear and the total amount was not correct. You claim it they simple change the price of each item

Ok for one night before arriving to Quito. Really fancy and expensive coffee. We consumed some empanadas in the convenience to use the Wi-Fi, but in the end it was not working.

Ok para um noite antes de chegar a Quito. Café realmente muito chique e caro. Consumimos algumas empanadas na conveniência para utilizar o Wi-Fi, mas no fim ele não estava funcionando.

There is WiFi here. Next to the highway so we have that noise but not a terrible place to stay.

Little America 41.54372, -109.85839

A selection of stands available, some with electricity and with taps scattered around. Most stands aren't level and we took some time to level the camper.

Clean but basic ablutions and nice views of the surrounding area to drink your coffee to. Sporadic MTN 3G signal only.

We paid R200 per night for two people in a camper.
