Attention!! According to the gps there should be a bridge for crossing the river BUT it is not built yet! Thanks to many locals (who we helped out in the middle of the river) checking the way through the water, we manged to cross. No idea how high the water is in other times of the year… otherwise you need to get back to Independencia 60km back.

Stayed here for three nights. Payed 50 Lari for the first and 40 Lari for each additional night for one person in a double bed room. Owners are very friendly. Owner speaks little russian and the young women speaks good english. Room and bath was clean. Can recommend this place.

Free established primitive campground right next to a clear creek. There are about 8 spots, most right on the water. Each spot has a picnic table, fire pit, latern hook, and lots of level ground. I didn't see any vault toilets and there are no trash cans. No cell service.

The road to get here was a really good gravel road, but with a couple steep and tight sections. I made it fine in my extended RWD Ford Transit, but larger vehicles may not make it. I stayed on a Thursday night all alone and it was amazingly quiet. But I'd imagine on a summer weekend it won't be so quiet.

There is fun mountain bike/hiking trails, apparently there is a 12ft deep swimming hole 1/8 mile upstream.

You can make the Covid antigen test here for the border crossing to Argentina. (We made an appointment for the next day 15:00, but then there were closed.) So, we did the test in Villazon ( see entry there).

Big Pemex with lifesaving cold showers for free. Didn't attempt to spend the night as it's right between two fast roads and suspect would have been noisy - but very much appreciated use of their showers after a super sweaty 9-hr drive to the border!

Two fires rings in place. Room for a few rigs. Maybe a teardrop/roof top tent trailer, would be a tight fit but do able. High clearance needed. Very cozy little canyon at the end.

Quiet with a beautiful view. 2-3 bars Verizon LTE. Nice long road for walks with doggos. Nobody but me there for overnight, just a couple people stopped by in the morning.

Spent a surprisingly quiet night here. Some families in the evening, but they all left and we had the campsite to ourselves by midnight. Unfortunately, the bathrooms were not in the best shape when we were there. Prices stated below are still correct.

Lots of folks sleeping in their cars. We are parked in the back row by Arby's. Along the frontage road across the street by Flyings J there are lots of tents, and
trash. We are in a Class C RV. Keeping our fingers crossed we can stay here for the night. Will update if we are asked to move on. Grateful for the space. Headed towards Reno and there is a mandatory chain ⛓️ restrictions for I-80. Hard to believe, as it's 4/14/22.

We couldn’t find the spot, all the roads took us to houses with barking dogs. At the end we put our tent between the rocks next to a dirt road. A few people came at 7pm and early morning but didn’t bother us

I was alone but I was not bothered. The road is pretty calm, especially in the evening, because the spot is along a scenic drive.

In Ecuador, immigration now has internet but aduana still sending text messages back and forth with somewhere else. Be patient.

Aduana told me they rotate new people every week, so luck here varies. Don’t expect they will know exactly what to do.

Road in from north after a week of dry wasn’t bad. Just slow. Left a report under the camping entry.

Dormimos uma noite, mas no lugar marcado não cabia muito bem o nosso motorhome, por isso estacionamos do outro lado da rua. Lugar tranquilo, em frente ao “calçadão” da cidade. Nos pareceu seguro.

Nice spot, but our motorhome didn’t feet weel, so we parked right in front of the street, at the costanera. Nice place to wake up close by the river. We felt safe.

This is the 3rd time staying here.
Pros: Perfect location, inexpensive, friendly staff, restaurant, hotel and stores on-site. They also do whale tours ( I did not do this), safety, easy parking, best shower I have had in baja (hot, real shower head, and perfect pressure).
Cons: Can fill up fast (reserve if you can), No gate in front so people and dogs could come in, but I had no issues with either).

I will definitely be returning when I come back to baja. Maybe even do the whale tour next time.

Stayed one night in large Walmart lot towards the back. No issues. Only signs were No Truck Parking. Vans/Small campers should be okay. Planet Fitness at other end of lot would also be good/more private.
