No corruption here. Never had any problems with corruption in this country. Smile and they will smile!

Nice flat area 3/4 mile off highway low noise felt safe . 23’ tt and suv plenty of room for larger rig. Great for pull off to get rest

you can tell that the road was washed away at this point, but looks like the road has been repaired. No problem with our VW T3 Syncro 4WD.

On the main road that leads to futrono's pier, rught before the ship in construction, take a right on a gravel road that leads to an open beach. Once you get close enough to the beach, you can park your car or van in some trees right before the beach itself. Once in the parking lot, walk about a 100 meters to your right,and you will find some nice places to camp relatively hidden from others.
Some locals come by in the sunset and some come out on the night near the beach. We also heard some small animals during the night, but nothing happened.

Very nice Campsite and Lodge a bit away from the road so it’s quiet. The entrance of the park is near and you can walk to the start of the gorilla tracking. Gady from the lodge is very friendly and helpful. He organized all for the gorilla tracking for us. The camp is well maintained and toilets and shower functional and clean. Camp on a nice green lawn with some trees. We enjoyed our stay and can recommend this place.

We called to check if they allowed overnight parking and they said only for customers with a room…

Long easy road to drive. There is a bit of washboarding but that’s the only issue with the drive. We drove quite a ways back up in here and there are dozens of places fit for any rig on both sides of the road. Nice and quiet. We’ve seen fox and coyotes running nearby.

The main road is decently busy. It seems like there is a ranch or farm at the end that requires consistent traffic so I’d recommend getting off the road a bit. Also the left side of the road, because it backs up to a major valley was a lot windier than the right side.

T-Mobile service had full bars but struggled to get a webpage to load. We could not see the lake from here unless we sat on top of our rig.

Sunsets are beautiful.

Be aware the road through Tortilla Flat to get here is closed. We had to go through Globe.

There are cabanas as well as camping available at Ben’s house.
Ben is a friendly guy who owns this property, an avid world traveler himself, he can tell you about places to see in Nicaragua and Central America.
Place is clean because there is a full time handyman on property 6 days per week doing repairs and cleaning

Quiet, peaceful and clean campground. Convenient to I40. Nice hike trails. Water and electricity.

Large parking lot at the start to the viewpoint on the lake and the Gray Glacier. You can park there at night if you have a converted vehicle. Many tourists during very quiet day at night. There is a small supermarket but it mainly sells cakes and souvenirs. There is also a restaurant. It's quite expensive 12990 pesos for a burger and fries. WiFi is charged at 8000 pesos per hour.

Quiet little town at the beach with safe parking lot to sleep on. Also there’s a shower and a drinking fountain. Close to Acireale. Beautiful spot not too far off.

A basic hotel. Average reception, not very helpful. Ventilated room at 7000 cfa, and air conditioned at 12000 cfa. No secure parking for motorbikes and did not accept to bring them inside.

Nice location with a view, but overgrown trees made it hard to get our camper van in. Bathrooms were not clean, and if 3 showers were going, the water completely shut off. Would have been quiet if there wasn’t a busload of kids in the hostel. Hot showers, potable water to fill your tank, 2000pesos per person and per van. Kinda expensive when there are so many places to boo dock around the lakes here.

Nice place next to the lava flow. I recommend to go as far you can with your car, the track is narrow. Even if the day you will hear the road noise, during the night there is no traffic. On the top of lava flow the view on the volcano is beautiful.

Mid February the grey whales are everywhere, it is incredible! They are around 2000. During the tour of 1h45 we see may be one hundred of them. From the coast you can see (far away) and heard them.

This is a bar. This is a museum. This is a restaurant. This is a memorial to fútbol/soccer. If you have time, come look. It’s free to look around. Beer on tap. Burgers and pizza available from the kitchen. Come early or plan to stand up if there is a big game on the four HUGE screens. Street parking can be tough.

As described. Forgot to ask for wifi so not sure if still available but very friendly, camped with my bike on grass behind station. Not that the bomberos start the day VERY early so be prepared to be woken by them starting to move around.

ATM is out of money right now but the Pemex is huge and very busy.

Cheapest hotel we could find in town. we got here on Carnaval weekend and everything was full or crazy expensive. this place was about half the price of everywhere else for a nice basic matrimonial room with private bathroom and the nicest woman running it who couldn't do enough for us. had room to let us park motorcycle inside. 5000 pesos (about $15US as of Feb 2023)

Super friendly and helpful staff. I arrive after closing and they instructed me to take one of the 3 spots available at the gate. Was pricey ($45) but felt luxurious to get water, do laundry, and have a shower! Currently cash/cheque only due to hurricane recovery efforts.

wanted to spent the night here and get some groceries before. very strange vibes in the village. we left

refugio next to a lake in the mountains. nice environment, you can even swim in the lake. from there, you can go see the ice caves. you can also walk to the Mirador monje to have a beautiful view (from where you can also get phone signal - 4g with claro). 2000 ARS pp in the camping / 5000 ARS pp in the refugio.

Epic camping. Like Alabama hills in California, big jumbles of granite boulders in huge piles. We camped here to escape 40kt winds, managed to tuck in right behind a rock wall. Beautiful scenery and great flora abound. Take a hike, you’ll find some cool stuff!
