Description

Sand Island BLM South of Bluff UT. Nice campground near the San Juan river. There are about 25 campsites, well spaced and quiet. Picnic tables and fire rings. No Verizon signal. Centrally located water spigot. It is in an area of one of the greatest number of ancient puebloan sites including pueblo ruins, petroglyphs and moki steps. There is a petroglyph panel at the campground. Edit on Aug. 26, 2022: I am currently getting 2 bars with Verizon.

Established campground BLM. $15/$7.50 with senior access pass. We got site #19 with afternoon shade and the river running in the background. Very peaceful!
Easy to get to off 191. Fire pit and picnic table at site. Pit toilets very clean and treated with enzymes so NOT smelly at all. Nice place!

Very nice BLM campsite, Picnic table and fire ring on site. Pit toilet, bring your sanitizer, central spigot water, can pay cash. Very easy to access from H’way. Also as you enter the site from high way 191, there is one free campsite designated spot on the left. But we chose to go further down to the fee for use campsite for our stay. There is very little noise from highway at the campsite but overall peaceful and quite stay. Some camps are just next to river and you can hear stream running which I found very calming. Also boat ramp and you can launch u to our boat easily.

Great campground with clean pit toilets, grills and covered areas! Only spent the night during a winter storm but it was easy to get to and convenient.

OK place, little road noise from the Highway bridge. Nice little trail with some more petroglyphs at the end of Loop A.

campgrounds are well spaced. there was a water spigot by the check in station. Two loops, each with about a dozen spots. There's also a boat ramp. Cost was $15 per night. Good gravel road so no worries about the weather.
