Went there, near the train tracks. Very ugly place with trash everywhere, abandonned tents, and two cars that don't look like cars anymore. Don't go there. The Children of the Earth do not approve.

Rwandan exit easy. As mentioned previously you enter the new building to stamp out your visa and CDP. Next to the office is Forex bureau, very useful.

On Ugandan side we had to show the Exit form we received at the gate once we officially drove out of Rwanda. Since we already had our East Africa Visa that also went smooth. We got our CDP stamped and didn’t need to pay anything extra. When we wanted to leave, a policeman came and told us to drive back a little. Did a very thorough search of the car, opening all boxes etc., but all was fine.

It was really quiet when we were there (Friday afternoon), so border crossing took us less than an hour. Quite a lot of fixers around on Ugandan side, but since the process is fairly straightforward I’d say you don’t need one.

Beautiful place to camp, with great sunset. A bit windy. be careful to close the gates properly so that the horses do not come out of the estancia.

Free and the water tastes good. It was a quick fill up too.

Decent size level grassy are with shade in some areas. House of the owner is right across. They are super nice and have kids which was fun for our son. Some bungalows available to rent across from the camping area. Basic bathrooms but all you need. Water fill up with great pressure and some of the most consistent wifi we've seen in CR. Walking distance to the beach and NP. We didn't quite understand whether or not we needed to pay. There is a pay station but we walked right up to the beach from the campground and noone said anything...

Wonderful place, we stayed 2 nights. Between 5.30 and 6 pm lots of tourist car stop to watch the sunset together with their clients but it didn’t bother us

after beautiful small roads arrived at this spot.no other cars, just 2 nice man with a dog. didn't do the trail as it was 10pm and dark. had a quiet night and took 15 m. to get to ferry Duke point

Perfect lot for a 1 night stay. Would definitely stay here again. Arrived late and left early. There were a few cars parked by nearby tent campers. No service.

$5 per person, bed was actually pretty comfortable. We brought our bikes into the room (first floor). Shower was actually hot ! :)

The process took around 5min. Nothing asked, bikes were not searched or anything at all.

Not worth it. It's a dirt parking without services, the guy asked for 10k, not willing to negotiate. We moved forward and park near the Concejo municipal, street parking, very safe and quiet.

Visible from the road, but good enough for one night. Police came by to say hello and to tell us that it's quiet and safe.

Nice and quiet. I got in easy with my 2WD van. Very pretty scenery. There’s a few spots but I was the only one there. I chose a spot nice and hidden from the road

it is not the rest area, it is just 50m before directly at the Lake, beautiful, quite place, also for big rigs, perfekt view, picnic table

very beautiful, we just stay in the day area for a few hours, but camping looks very good right at the sea, less mosquitos

La route de gravier est en bon état mais peu large. Il faut qu'un véhicule se tasse dans les broussailles et s'immobilise pour laisser la voie libre à celui qui arrive. Pas de possibilité de faire demi tour. J'avais une roulotte de 16 pieds et c'était correct. Pour ma part, je n'aurais pas osé le faire avec un fifth wheel mais c'est sur que certains ont du le faire.

We spent a night here with one other van. No problem, perfect localisation !

There were no signs posted about no overnight camping and a couple rangers passed us and their only warning was to keep food bear safe. We had a lovely spot overlooking one river with a very short walk down to where the two meet.

Great location. Well lit, if you like that. Security driving by as I was parking and welcomed us and took down my name and plate number. Do make sure you check in or you might get an early wake up knock (read previous write up). (Sprinter van)

stayed one night. one other van showed up as well. no problems and good service. kind of loud from the highway, but far enough away that your car won't shake when a car drives by

Duramos una semana. Es un lugar bien tranquilo, cerca el río y a 50 metros la planta de agua. Una vista de Buga desde un cerro a un kilómetro más o menos. Bien para pasar varias noches.

We absolutely loved Richard & Margot, what an amazing couple. So hospitable and they gave amazing tips for Zimbabwe. They made our stay. Ablutions are suuuuper clean, and this is the first donkey that has ever been properly systematically lit for us in the mornings and evenings regardless of when guests are planning to use it, so there was always warm water. This was amazing! We also got fish fresh or the boat with some lemon, delicious!

It’s a reverse osmosis water station where you can fit a 6 gallon jerry can. 20cents per gallon and really tasty! The most affordable water I’ve seen in SD!

Good spot, well suited for smaller rigs with average ground clearance. Good cell reception with Tmobile.

We spend one nitght on ocean avenue on a car (suv). You can park for free on east side and between 6pm and 9am on west side. Public toilet are next to the parking (closed between 9pm and 7am). Quiet place, not much trafic, sleeping well

Yep, definitely a summer-only pass.
Closed early June 2022 even before the actual pass starts I think.
Tried the road that was built for the power lines, but that really isn't an option
