Kyrgyzstan
Pass at 3300 meters. Spectacular well maintained road, only open in summer. Road on north side is more rocky and bumpy, south side surroundings are green and valleys wide. On the south side at the bottom there are two river crosssings or you can take the bridge ( max 2 ton it says, but we survived). Its a long drive but well worth the effort from either Talas to Ala Buka or vv. Chatkal valley also very scenic with lively villages, gas, bankomat and food. As the north side of the pass is steeper with a lot of curves, we suggest to do this route from Ala-buka to Talas.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Yep, definitely a summer-only pass.
Closed early June 2022 even before the actual pass starts I think.
Tried the road that was built for the power lines, but that really isn't an option
