BEAUTIFUL spot with a great view of the ocean and Santa Monica pier. 5min walk to the water. Public restroom nearby, but plenty of cafes and restaurants too.
Free parking, no restrictions other than street sweeping on the east side of this block. Street sweeping is Wednesday 12p-2p.
USERS REPORT a $73 fine because our vehicle is over 8ft tall. We are going to contest the fine because we haven't seen one sign about it anywhere in the city. Just a heads up for you.
All parking south of here has meters. Starting right here and driving north it is not metered (on the east side of the street only).
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Great spot! We're staying in a very NOT subtle campervan and stayed here for 2 nights. Felt very safe, no problems at all. Obviously your average traffic noise as its on the side of the road. The further south you go the more homeless there are about, and its noisey by the pier at night so I'd recommend northern parking. Plenty of restrooms (close at midnight) and drinking water dotted along the park.
Report Check-InGreat spot to stop for a night. Can’t beat the view in the morning. Pay attention to the parking signs, as of writing it’s free between 6pm and 9am and then metered 5 hour max. No parking Tuesdays 7am-9am for street cleaning.
Public restrooms were closed early so I did not see them. Pro tip: walk over to the fairmont nearby for your morning bathroom needs. Luxurious!
We weren’t bothered and saw plenty of other vans. Lots of other reports of fines for larger rigs so be careful.
Report Check-InGreat place to stop and watch the sunset. City ordinance doesn’t allow vehicles over 8’ tall, more than 8’ wide, or more than 20’ long to park on the streets between 9pm - 6am. Apparently the rules are posted at more than 75 entrances to the city 🤷🏻♂️
Report Check-InSpent several nights here while doing things around LA. Great place. Lots of traffic and activity, but safe, close bathrooms, great ocean view, and a park with free wifi right nearby.
Report Check-InParked here twice overnight. Very nice spot. The further away you park from the main Santa Monica area, the more quiet/peaceful
Report Check-InNo overnight parking for vehicle over 8 ft High or 20 ft long from 9 pm to 6 am, we got a ticket. We don't know where the sign is probably at the entrance of Santa Monica.
Report Check-InWe spend one nitght on ocean avenue on a car (suv). You can park for free on east side and between 6pm and 9am on west side. Public toilet are next to the parking (closed between 9pm and 7am). Quiet place, not much trafic, sleeping well
Report Check-InI parked here a couple months ago, beautiful spot, with no problems. I came back and last night I got a $73 ticket for vehicle being over 8’ feet tall. I am going to contest since there are no signs anywhere. Something to keep in mind…
Report Check-InI tried to find a spot on Ocean avenue to park, but I came late (around 6pm) , so I couldn’t find a spot to stay over night on Ocean ave, I found a spot on the side street near ocean avenue, it was quiet and safe.
Report Check-InAfter spending the day at the beach, this was the perfect spot to to pass the night. It was relatively quiet with bathrooms close by.
We will definitely stop here again next time we are in the LA beach area.
Report Check-InPerfect spot across the street from the beach! Super close to the pier and other restaurants and shops! Plus who can beat the view when the sun rises !!
Report Check-InGreat street parking location on Ocean Ave. About a mile from Santa Monica pier, and other entrances to beach just across the street. It is a busy street, doesn’t really quiet down at night depending on day, ppl in the area, etc. But very convenient and got the job done for me!
