As described. There are 3 dump holes, further one on right for “RHS” dumping.

Beautiful place to spend a few days before or after the border-crossing, very friendly and open-minded vecinos, good and cheap food en la tiendita. Enjoy! 😄

This is a great alternative to paying for camping in Hovenweep monument. Very clean, spacious, nice views. Weak cell service. There’s another spot a bit further down the road on the left, if this one is occupied. I’m guessing that the hill on the approach is challenging in wet or snowy weather.

Cheap full- hook ups (for most sites). big rig friendly. Pay at the gas station. Pull though sites. Some road/train noise. Travel center has bathrooms, Dairy Queen, souvenirs, gas (diesel was out of service when we were here).

Easy border but you need time!!
The guy at the enterance told you where to go and everything.
1. white tent with QRcode for Corona questionnaire(on your right hand) & vaccination control
2. Migration (middle of the place Guatemala to Honduras is in the back of the "mainstreet")
You have to take the really left desk first (leaving Guatemala), then the next desks are the enterance to Honduras. Stamp for passports. 80l per Person.
3. Go to the "aduana" - first Guatemala side to quit your SAT temp. import and then further on to Honduras side for new TIP. Costs 798l.
4. for dogowners go to the SEPA across the aduana desks and show the papers of your animal, short check if the dog looks like described in tbe passport, that's everything. Costs 300l.

Your finished! Go to your car and leave the border zone. Have prepared for leave:
passports, TIP and animalimport (but they only want to see our passports & TIP for leaving.

We needed 3hours to get through. They can make copies themselves, but it's good to have your passports, carpapers and animalpapers in copy so you can hand the copies over.

There is an app to precheckin to the Honduras border (prechequeo migratorio Honduras, turquoise logo with a walking man with suitcase) but it was down today and it was no problem to cross without any precheckin or filling online forms before...

Love wine + vineyard view overnights!
The Host was very responsive and welcoming via email with Harvest Hosts.
They have snacks but not real food. I have purchased several of their bottles around Baja. Their Tempranillo, Cab Sauv, and Blanc de Zinfandel were all good. Today I got to try the Cab Sauv Rose and I’m not typically a lighter wine gal but I loved it and bought a bottle.
I also walked to Casa Dona Vineyard to pick up salad a and pizza and felt safe walking this trek solo (10 min there / 10 min back). The restaurant was recommended by LA CETTO and the security guard said it is safe to walk there and back.

At Casa Dona, I highly recommend the ensalada chico (fresh veggies and whatever this white dressing is, is super yummy) and a Margherita Pizza. The pizza comes with this medium spicy red sauce on the side which was interesting yet the combo was divine. You can eat there, but it was loud and busy. I suggest bringing it back to LA Cetto, the scenery is more pretty, and having your dinner with your bottle of wine while watching the sunset behind the vineyard & mountains.

Arrived here by bicycle and asked if there was a place where we could pitch our tent. The very nice lady at the reception told us to pitch our tent next to a cabaña, under a roof. Perfect! Nice view over the Laguna del Indko. We had access to the bathrooms 24h, and could ask for some hot water.

Great spot, the rules allow for up to 3 nights of camping. No amenities. We came in on the southwest entrance and the road was very rutted. It’s was hard packed though. Might be a different story if it had recently rained. We stayed right at the entrance and didn’t have to navigate the road. Perfect for a night. Minimal noise off the highway. We have an in truck camper, it would also work for vans, probably not ideal for big rigs. Spots were not perfectly level but with some trial and error you can find level.

We were really on water so we stopped to fill up our thank. No good for hose or big gallon but with patience and imagination we did it.
Thank you to the fire department for the tough!

This is the parking lot for the trail head but has no signage prohibiting overnight parking.

Another spot a km further up this road is a nicer big level area with a fire ring, worth checking out.

Broke a hole in one of my plastic boxes. Brought it here for repair. The guy fixed it like new.

When asked about payment, he said "Pay me what you like." Ugh. I gave him C400.

Big change to regulations as of the end of Feb 2023, per their Facebook page! You have to pre-register in person at their office in Warsaw (about a 20 min drive away)

The streets around the university allow for weekend parking, From Friday 6pm to Monday 6am. Then it seems to allow for regular parking (versus permit zone) at night on week days, between 6pm to 6am the next day. Pretty level/flat.

This no longer exists. There is a house by the side of the road and we asked there and they told us there was nowhere around here to buy food / drink etc.

Heading north. Got stopped twice at this checkpoint. First guy was a military. Asked the usual questions, checked our van quickly then let us go. A few meters after, police waved us to stop. This time they really searched our van. They were knocking on the floors and roof. One cop kept initiating and asking if we did drugs. He searched my purse and searched my partner's pockets. I think they try to make you feel comfortable by being "friendly" and funny so people confess to doing drugs. And at the end after wasting our time for 20 minutes(it was starting to get late), they had the audacity to ask us for money for coffee. We refused of course. They seemed like corrupt cops. I wish I was filming this checkpoint. They probably would have calmed down.
