Rustic no frills cabins with private bathroom and fan and small patio with a cabin. Only meters from a beautiful beach and the Drakes Bay hiking track that runs through the jungle and along the beaches in both directions. The surrounding area is full of wildlife and in the 3 days we were here we saw lots of monkeys, anteaters, squirrels and a python. Also sloths around. Lots of butterflies and birds too, especially hummingbirds in the gardens. The set up is very remote and a full board basis. All the meals were good and different every day. For two of us we paid $152USD/day full board, when you break it down it’s good value for what you get and the unique stay… right in the jungle and away from everything!

Amazing Cultural Center founded by the national artist Francisco Toledo. Very beautiful and special restored old building with a very nice view. When we went there was a very good exhibition going on.

Lovely spot, however it seems the heavy rainfall & snow has washed away the level spots where you can park on the sand by the lake and made the hill going down much steeper than it appeared on previous pictures. Definitely not the same as it was a few months ago. You could camp there if you want to chance driving down the STEEEEP entrance to the little beach. We didn’t feel comfortable driving down for fear the momentum carrying us down the little steep hill would take us straight into the water, so we decided to not park on the sand. There is a little pull off to the side to the left of the entranceway that’s big enough for smaller RV’s and camper vans, probably not great for wide & large rigs. Not super level, but with our levelling blocks it was no issue whatsoever! Great place for a cold dip or campfire.

Lovely little campground. Really nice amenities, cold shower. BBQ area. They are currently building some ‘glamping domes’ and moving the campsite to another part of their land. Mostly room for tents however we managed to get our car in with roof top tent quite comfortably. East walk to town and close to some minimarts. Beautiful river near by.

This is a hostel, not a place to park overnight. There is street parking up and down on all sides. Called hostel to ask about shower, you have to get a room at $65 USD to use the shower.

Just a large mall parking lot. Loud as it's near a highway, but I found it a nice place to sleep. During the day I did see a security car drive by but not at night.

Nice place with grassy shady campsites, braai, power and water on the site. WIFI is a bit on and off, sometimes available at the campsites. Nice and clean very hot showers. Prices have increased, 200 pppn + 10 pppn tax. A bit expensive but worth it after days in the CKGR.

Sinal 4G pega super bem.

lots of places offer tours in this town, but we went here. we heard you needed a guide to enter the Amboro national park to see the giant fern trees (I'm not sure that's true as when we went on the hike we saw other people that looked like they were unguided). prices ranged from 320b per person for a private tour or if you got into a group of 6 or more then it was only 160b each. the lady at the counter was super friendly and helpful (no English) and instead of taking our money for a private tour she offered to switch our days around to get us on the cheaper days which meant we saved enough money to do another tour. the Codo de Los Andes trek was awesome! the first km is pretty grueling uphill, but the next 10 are all down hill. no shade at all so bring a brimmed hat, sunscreen, and plenty of water. people on our trip didn't bring enough and ran out as it started raining really hard and slowed us down. The other trip with the giant ferns was less impressive but it was still super cool to see these fern trees that are 800+years old. our guide both days understands a lot of English but didn't speak much. he was very knowledgeable about both areas and kept a good pace.

Fantastic spot to camp! We had to go a little bit downstream as the water was already too hot here!

There’s now a rope and a sign stating that it’s forbidden to enter the path and wash laundry (right after passing the thermal baths). We still drove through and met a guy from the municipality who told us the same. When we explained that we only wanted to camp he was fine and even suggested to go further up the river to get the best temperatures :)
