We slept one night at this station, the staff was very kind and said we could sleep in a retreat that has a direction towards Medellín. There is a lot of noise from the road, as it is next door. It has a bathroom, but it closed for a period due to lack of water. We don't pay anything, we just fill up the car in the morning.

Dormimos uma noite neste posto, o pessoal foi muito gentil e disse que poderíamos dormir num recuo que tem sentido Medellín. Tem bastante ruído da estrada, pois fica ao lado. Possui banheiro, mas fechou por um período por conta de falta de água. Não pagamos nada, somente abastecemos o carro pela manhã.

Very peaceful and beautiful place to camp. Instead of stopping at the reservoir, which was muddy and didn’t look so nice, I just continued on the road a bit further (away from the main road) and there were lots of spots to set up camp.

We stayed one night, beautiful place, sunset and sunrise were beautiful. Safe.

Had the knock from BP Security at 8.20 pm. Apparently this is BP property and no camping overnight allowed

It's a royal enfield workshop. But if you just need "heavier" tools to use or have a general problem, they are really friendly to help you or lend the tools.
Didn't even have to pay for it. Super nice :)
The owner also speaks English.

No problem end of April on 2 motorcycles. There was no water at all.

End of April same like in October. Nobody was there, looks abandonded.

Very basic campsite with a stunning view of the falls as well as valley. There are toilets but no running water. Staff are friendly, and they can organize tours/hikes as well as hot water for the outdoor shower.

Amazing avocado chips sandwich. It is called Erteb, and I think that is the only thing they serve, with tea. Costs 80birr.
If you re visiting the national museum or if you are just passing by, don't miss the chance to try! Plastic benches on the street all round this small place and full of locals. I have added some pictures.

Parking lot size for Land Rover Defender possible. However, the hotel should be informed in advance.

Good location to explore everything on foot.

A good place for eating different foods from Asia. It whas good, cheap and authentic.

DRC to Angola
We arrived a little bit to late in case off a horrible traffic jam in Matadi, so we slept at the border. Not recommended, to many people, to much noise until 1am. Officer are friendly.

Roads in Matadi are under construction at the moment. Big potholes.

DRC exit easy, get everything stamped. They wanted money for copies of Passport and stamp. Didn’t had any cash left, was fine for them.

Angola totally easy. Used Cabinda TIP again, ask the friendly Custom officer to copy passport and yellow fiver., he did. Emigration 5min.

Total border less than 1h.

Dadabaev is a good diesel mechanic with lots of experience in Diesel vehicles.

Small self-service laundry, with three 10kg-machines and one 18kg-machine and three dryers. 10kg cost 11 Gel, 18kg cost 15 Gel. 16 minutes drying cost 7 Gel.

Only cash, but the old man there can/will change bills to coins. Very clean laundry.

There's also free WiFi.

Parking is 200.000 Rial for two persons one car. Entry 2.500.000 Rial per person.

I only met some aggresive dogs outside of the city entrance, and scared them off with my trekking poles easily. Other dogs seemed quite calm. Always bring some good defense with you!

A cheap but nice hostel. Spent 18000 per person/night. Basic furniture, TV, WiFi and tea room. Near the city center

Wonderful rest area. Yes there are "No Overnight Parking" signs, but I have found across the country at rest stops it's an unwritten rule you can stay overnight as long as you are being respectful and just stay 1 night. I stayed no problem 6pm-7am.

We had a lovely overnight stay here. The road from Popayan to here is stunningly beautiful so be sure to drive here in the daylight if at all possible! There was a young man sitting on a chair outside the bathroom for most of not all of the night. Perhaps a security guard? He was friendly.
All the fruit has been harvested when we were here in April but we still had a nice wander down the path to see the beautiful finca. No cacao or coffee beans are available for purchase unfortunately.
Highly recommend for a night. We took the lower road to get here. Super easy.

Pulled in around 10 PM to the RV park. When you’re driving towards the lake, it’s on your right, I missed it on accident and took a scenic drive around the lake. There were scattered cars around the lake either camping or just hanging out and when I made it to the RV park, there were about 10 RVs/campers when I woke up. The RV Park is clean, quiet, has power, hook ups, and a well water pump if needed. There are scattered picnic tables and fire pits if you’re looking to make more of a trip out of this place than an overnight stop. I believe there are bathrooms too but I did not look for them.

Camping around the lake is free, rv park is $25/night.

Step-by-step guide for crossing Chile - Bolivia: 1. you must pass the military check. He will ask you for your PDI. 2. You have to drive to the building on the right. Park on the left before the small Bolivian customs hut (barrier). 3. Enter on the right of the building. Adults must scan a QR code to register. 4. If you are driving, start at the counter on the right when entering (customs). They will cancel your TIP and give you the 'Hoja de Ruta' (essential). 5. Proceed to the following counters (immigration, etc.) by having your 'Hoja de Routa' stamped. Also have it stamped during the scan (xray). For the Bolivian TIP, this happens in the small cabin near the parking lot. They asked us for the chassis number and the engine number. They came to check on the car (first time in South America). They didn't check anything in the car. They just asked us to xray our bags. The entire process took us about 1 hour. Possibility of changing money just after the border.

Passamos a noite aqui, na parte de trás do posto tem um espaço ótimo. Sem barulho, banheiro limpo, sem ducha e Wi-Fi liberada na conveniência

Modern restaurant, decent food and coffee and desserts. Slightly out of town. Open all day until 7pm, good place to stop during siesta time
