A nice little campground on the shores of the bay. Most people here are seasonal and their sites are off the water so short term renters like us get to have the best seats!
Sites w/o any services are $35C. There is one shower and toilet…

Well what can I say about this place? It’s about 7-8 miles down a sometimes gravel sometimes dirt road. I drove all the way to the end of Umber Rd where there’s a small clearing big enough to turn my SUV around. There are planted fields at the ends of the short driveways turning off this road so I made sure not to block any farmer’s access. Plenty of poison ivy along the road but haven’t spotted any in this clearing…yet. My cat will find it and roll in it as a gift to me. Very quiet, minimal trash, no amenities. I wouldn’t bring anything you need to tow down here, you will likely need to do some backing out if you explore any of the drives. And there are a couple of ruts you won’t want to take a trailer over. I think it’ll do for the night unless a local disagrees. I never saw the ring pull off but may look for that tomorrow.

Update: I decided to go find the ring because any rain on the road at that first place would have rendered me stuck

As described. Filled up and asked. Owner came out and chatted - artesian well where most communities draw from the ponds. While filling trailer with jugs, another gentleman came over and said there is a hose across the road that I could use!

I think someone’s assessment that this campground has as much appeal as a Walmart parking lot was an understatement. The entire place has run down strip mall feel.

The ocean is the redeeming factor, for sure. I even got to see a few seals feeding during high tide. 😍

I saw an empty oceanfront place big enough for my van and asked the folks if I could pay 1/2 their camp fee to park there. They said yes. Friendly folks and great conversationalists.

I would never have stayed even one night without ocean front.

2-3 bars with Verizon. Flush toilets, but no other water.

Gravel lot at Emerald Cove Trail.
The road to get here is not maintained. But after we arrived, 2 other vans and an All Terrane Vehicle showed up to also camp. It is rainy and foggy but a wonderful view of the Bay, and the mountains.
Follow previous directions and keep going till you get to the top!

This is private property. The owner has been coming by every evening and asking people to leave, apparently 79 people in just the last few weeks.

See photos for sign on left side of the road as going north for entrance. About .2 miles down dirt road to large rocky area by river. Would not recommend if raining, recently rained and/or river is high. Beautiful Friday evening for us. A few people camping further up river.

The turn around is perfect for an overnight in our travel trailer! It's hard packed getting here and the turnaround is flat. It's so quiet and peaceful. Gorgeous!

A small pullout just before the Golden Horn campground. Several good spots for tents or you can just camp in your vehicle in the pullout. It is right alongside the stream looking up the valley at the big mountains. No cell phone service but Starlink worked great.
