A man came to tell us that this spot is PRIVATE property! apparently he's been repeatedly asking people to leave because he's constantly cleaning up after these people going on his land, and he keeps putting signs up to deter visitors but they get taken down. Please respect his land. Find another spot.

like the last comment said, go pass the boats at the end of the road, it's a bit hidden, so follow the edge of the water, you'll see a dirt road, narrow in the beginning but it opens up at the end, a large gravel space. Tonight, there's another camper van beside me, a minivan, and a car with a tent. This spot seems popular among the overlanders since it's now high season the campsite at the national park is all booked up. This place is the closest you can get to the national park, got a good view, quiet, sleeping with the waves, a lot of fire pits, besides the fact it doesn't have toilets, it seems ideal.

Nice private spot past fishing boats. surrounded by water. View of mountains. Fire pits around room for a few vehicles

Report Check-In

Following the Ferry Road makes this place easy to find. Two other RVs. Nice views. Since it is close to the port, you will hear boats in the morning.

Lots of fire pits (I would say a bit exaggerated). Strictly speaking, this place does not appear on the public lands map but nobody bothered us.

Consider picking up some trash that others left to keep this place open for others.

This was a good place to stay. Flat spot with a few different areas to park. Vans and truck campers are probably the easiest since the road heading in is a narrow dirt road with lots of potholes, but it’s definitely doable with two wheel drive. Using the iOverlander app on our Garmin GPS took us directly to the spot without confusion. We spent two nights here mainly because it rained for 24 hours straight. It was a nice spot right by the water to watch the fishing boats and waves. There was one other van staying each night.

Report Check-In

Great spot behind Ingonish harbor, between harbor and ocean. Several spots for different type of vehicles there. Local people come fishing or take a rest there, both nobody bother us.
If it is windy the spot gives no cover and around there is a bit rubbish.
We spend there 2 nights.

To echo everyone else’s previous notes- do NOT go down Hideaway road. We made this mistake after dark and it was not fun hahaha. Ferry Road is the turn off one road west on the Cabot Trail. Once we got settled, it was a lovely quiet stay with the ocean all around and some fire pits as well.

Report Check-In

Very scenic spot with several places to camp or park.

Fantastic place to overnight. You have the quiet harbour bay on one side and the crashing waves on the other side. Definitely go down the pit hiked dirt road past the boat harbour. Lots of room to turn around and several places to park. Met couple of professional photographers their shooting the landscape. Highly recommend.

Perfect Spot! I parked at the fire pit even if it is a bit sketchy. Almost got stock when getting out so yes better park just before, flat ground and easy. At the en of Ferry road. Very slow on the one lane gravel road is perfect.

Report Check-In

ATTENTION!!! Don't let GPS tell you to turn down "Hide a way Dr" instead go down "Ferry Rd"

Once you reach the boat parking lot , continue further on and you will see a single lane road. It does have a lot of pot holes but slow and steady will get you through just fine.

Pretty Sweet boondocking spot! Surrounded by water…awesome beach. Only sound you hear is ocean waves.

dont follow Google map. this place is down ferry road, then continue on the Little road and you Will find two parking lots with a great view on the water!
beautiful place, leave no trace.

superbe endroit, ne suivez pas les instructions de Google map. allez au bout de ferry road, puis suivez le sentier qui vous mènera jusqu'à deux stationnements avec une belle vue sur l'eau. superbe endroit, rapportez vos déchets :)

We parked at the wharf as the road is blocked after the road has suffered erosion and several power poles are down after a storm. You can still walk out to the plateau grassy area and fire pits. Very scenic and beautiful spot to stop for a night. Very quiet and wharf area is well lit at night.

Report Check-In

The campsite(s) is located near the eastern side of the rocky projection forming the Ingonish Ferry harbour entrance. At the moment the access road is muddy as it is being repaired. The site is by the ocean, secluded, and has a good view of the Metric Lodge.
There is an extension of the campsite road that leads to a fire pit and nice plateau. DON'T DRIVE THERE!!! The base is very sandy with smooth rocks. I managed to get stuck there with my vehicle. One can walk the short distance to make fire, if wanted.
Otherwise, this is only one of a very few spots with fire pit on the Eastern side of Cabot Trail.
