we were a few vans sleeping here. very nice parking lot at the edge of the forest with no noise at night. we made no noise, we left no trash behind us and no one was disturbed by our presence. in the morning a weird gentleman came yelling in the parking lot saying we had no business here and needed to go to a campsite. he was very angry and slammed his car door to wake us all up! around noon, an employee of the municipality came to put up a sign prohibiting camping in this parking lot as we were leaving (see picture!). unfortunately, it is therefore no longer possible to sleep here since today! it's really annoying and disappointing because this spot was very convenient and the vans didn't bother anyone here!

Place as described. A gravel lot next to the beach. A well-maintained beach with benches along the trail, historic placards, and walking sticks provided at the entrance. Pit toilets aren’t open yet. Picnic tables and a shelter. Seems to be fairly protected from the wind in the gravel lot. Lovely beach at low tide with fun geology around the bend to the west.

Nice area right off 96 on FR287. 4-5 spots, this one right along creek. Fairly private spots; not for large rigs or trailers probably. Road is pretty good, made it fine in minivan. No cel with att at all.
This spot is mentioned in post across the road as well but wanted to designate spot for accuracy.

Looks like this was a happening place at one time. Check-in office was locked up and no one around on a Friday afternoon. There are a couple of long-term trailers parked, but no one around. Kind of cool...but spooky.

Not clearly marked, but need to turn off Highway 21 on Cypress Lake Road. It is a bit of a drive, but worth it!

Place was perfect. Flat and quiet all night. Cars came around 3am but wasn’t bad, picked up briefly at 5 then quiet again. Some fireworks around 8 in the distance was cool and sounded like a firing range in the distance

A few dirt roads off rt 89 with wonderful camping opportunities, spectacular views of snow covered peaks, beautiful trees, and wildflowers. Rough and bumpy dirt road but doable in 2wd van, tight space so only good for van or tent. No cell services or facilities. One of the most peaceful and beautiful places I have found.

Solid and normal Cracker Barrel experience— loud stuff in the lot but far enough away from the road to reduce traffic noise. OK for a night.

Daniel is a great host, recommended for all overlanders, only that the space he has is for two cars during the week, it is less congested than on the weekend because he has a store restaurant and is full of very cheerful locals.

Really great campground! Looked on BCParks first which showed it being fully booked but turned up anyway and they keep a few sites available for first in first served. Dump station and potable water. Highly recommend this beautiful spot!

Surprisingly tucked away. There’s a local-favorite ice cream shack a block away. This is way better than the $36/night campground that’s just as close to the road. (But great hikes there!) Thanks for adding this good freebie, perfect for my solar :)

Nice level rest area. Couple of RV’s and trucks. Right off RT 80. Stars are incredible! Next rest area is 126 miles so this is a good spot.

Open space with room to roam. Solar was great, with minimal road noise. Decent cell for simple web search and streaming. VZW & TM. Great home base for visiting West Yellowstone.

A couple different options higher up on the overlook but it's windy or various forest roads on the flat where it's more protected. There is some loose dirt and sand but I think ok for most vehicles. Great Verizon and AT&T LTE. Yours to enjoy protect and keep clean 🌲

was super stoked to find a place so close to town only to find a sign posted saying no overnight parking/camping. maybe it’s not a big deal but i didn’t risk staying here and found a spot elsewhere.

This must be marked in the wrong location! We were in Coban a few months ago and this location is in the town center with wide streets and tons of shopping. I know the guys who marked this, they are driving a Fiat Ducato. Cannot imagine they had an issue in Coban downtown...

Ended up staying the full 14 days. Two things I will never forget .. the beauty of Swan creek and the other creeks on the trails and the POISON IVY THAT WON'T GO AWAY. please take caution if you are allergic .. it really is bad.

At 7400K ft along Divide Creek Rd, inside beaverhead-deerlodge NF I found two spots that are flat, have VZW and T-Mob LTE, are relatively easy to get to with 2x2. One spot can hold 4-5 large vans. I’ve never driven a truck+RV trailer but I’d assume a skilled driver would be fine taking time to observe areas where high clearance is beneficial.
The other (pictured where I am) should have high clearance or at least not be weighed down significantly, but 2x2 is fine.
I was looking for a place with views and service to work and enjoy some wild life while traversing through Montana and this did the trick!

This location does allow street parking still and the park is open from sun up to sun down. There is a standard park restroom on the opposite side of the park, inside the fenced part of the park that is closed at night. This is a residential area and actual camping is not permitted.
There is a water spigot inside the dog park area that is open at all hours. Overnight parking is OK as long as you are quite.

Did not sleep here but there are plenty of rvs & small campers parked along here. NOTE: they have placed signs all along this area that there is a proposition meeting scheduled to ban parking/overnight stays from this street. Looks like we’re on borrowed time to stay here overnight.
