Indeed, the best Purificadora we have seen in Baja so far.
The whole installation is brand new with all modern filtration technology present. We took 200 liters and paid 120 pesos, easy to parc in front and the owner has a long clean hose to fill your tank. Very friendly and knowledgeable owner that also speaks perfect English

4x4 is most definitely recommended with a high clearance. Originally we wanted to go to Big Run Falls, but if your gps takes you through Thomas, WV and makes you take Douglas RD, be aware that some of the trail is washed out and you will not be able to make it. Road is very bumpy, campsite was nice, we didn't get to enjoy it much due to rain.

This is a big ol parking lot for a shopping center. The main stores are Ross, PetsMart, and a World Market, so it's usually pretty empty. It's just a half mile walk to downtown Santa Cruz from here, which is what we used it for multiple times. No overnighting here, but it's perfect for a day trip into town if you don't want to mess with parking downtown.

100,000 som for the night, no meal included. I don’t know what the other overlander is talking about. It is perfectly fine by any Uzbek standards. It’s clean. It has beds. It does registration. Checks all the boxes in my opinion. It seems as if they do meals during the busy season, as I was the only guest I’m not too surprised they didn’t pull out all the stops

Very good food!! Fantastic ambiance! Rather book a table to avoid disappointment. If you want to eat a good schnitzel or eisbein, this is the place to visit! Good service.

Actually we stayed in the same road but on the other side of Ruta 40, close to the municipal camping - just forgot to mark the place. Quiet, some shade, cell service ok, no other amenities. Another motorhome came during the night. No police.

Gazibo/Kiosk/Pagoda/rest shelter next to a football field. We pitched the tent in the gazebo to shelter from the rain. There are two shelters, a sports workout area and toilets (very clean, running water).

Was able to connect to a free WiFi.

Large parking lot for vans and campers.

Stayed here last night and it was an enjoyable experience. There were quite a few four-wheelers around here and there but no one bothered us and they didn't hang around for long.

Definitely a free dump station. Not sure about camping. There are no “no camping “ signs. I wouldn’t want to tent camp here.

Forest Ranger told us this is a State Forest Preserve and it is illegal to drive vehicles on that land. You can park along roadside and walk in and tent but that is it

You are allowed to drive up in any vehicle but not motorcycles. We even saw little pocket rockets drive up. Road is bumby and washed out but doable.

I stayed in the eco lodge in Taybad and a couple of guys that were friends with the owner helped me with the border crossing, one of them worked for a transport company at the border, so it made things very easy for me.
First checkpoint will ask for passport and CDP, at next stop is where they’ll do your CDP, building on your left Need photocopies of everything, CDP, visa etc. make two copies of each so you have for Afghan side. Same building get gate pass document, drive to next point with gate pass straight ahead and around to the right. Building there go inside and they’re very nice, gave me tea and orange, they check the CDP, had to go back to first office for with cdp some reason, not sure why, my friend went for me. After that passport control in next building’s window. Then military check passport a bit further towards border, then a final one before Afghanistan, this all took maybe 2hrs. Afghan side, ride to the left side of the first building, park at hole in the fence, walk through and there’s a win down to the right, give them passport, one guy spoke English very well, I got my e-visa in Abu Dhabi. He said that I should have got permission for my motorcycle from the embassy as well, but after 10 minutes they let me go, no documents for motorcycle, no insurance. Gave me card for next checkpoint, nice guys, let me straight through with no search. Hundreds of money exchange guys on the other side. Crowded and chaotic, but nice friendly people. Couldn’t buy SIM card at border, even in Herat they won’t sell to foreigner, but a local person might be able to buy and register for you, a guy from my hotel gave me his own.
All in all, very good experience, I was expecting the worst, one of the best crossings I’ve had in the Middle East.
