05/26/2022 The area of Santa Fe is currently under a fire restriction lock down where almost all parks and forest service roads are closed due to a 300,000 acre fire burning. There is a pull out after you get into the national forest but before you get to the state park. You will see a large dirt mound and a gravel pull out on the right hand side of the road. We camped with our pop up tent for one night and it was fine. The forest ranger did come by around 9am and informed us that the whole area was closed and that it is up to a $5000 dollar fine if you consistently are caught. We played dumb because we are from Oregon and used that as an excuse that we didn’t know you couldn’t camp there. But since literally no where else is available for camping this is your best bet in the Santa Fe area. I advise getting in there around dusk and leaving early in the morning. Hope this helps!

Wonderful quiet place. We did not park on the beach, but next to the road. Nobody bothered, waking up with sealions playing in the sea

Basic hotel, good location, ceiling fan (no a/c), hot water, good water pressure, clean bathroom. Secure parking. Only downside is that there are only two outlets available in the room to charge electronics, and only one of them is accessible (the other one is on top of the dresser). Paid 400 pesos for a single room (May 2022).

Nice spot to watch surfers and spend the night. Sushi bar next to the arroyo with wifi. Closes at 8. If you drive up on beach be careful as it’s soft so air down. Also, not a place to snorkel. Mainly just chill and relax.

As described, stayed 2 nights while exploring Bend. Folks still coming in at 11pm so must be lots of spots further back. Solid boondocking spot. ~ Vanpe Diem.

If like us you do not have a SIM card for Honduras and are in need of wifi, especially when waiting for your covid test results to come through (farmacia del ahorra next door), then we can recommend this restaurant. Wifi was fast. They specialize in seafood but serve other food. The meals were OK. It‘s a popular place amongst locals but plenty of space both in restaurant and car park.

We stopped for a quick coffee and didn't expected too much - but the cappuccino was very delicious and the fries also 😉. Good for a quick stop 👍🏻

Nothing special. Open dirt load to park in. Several big rigs here when I arrived around 10 pm. Plenty of space to spread out and have some quiet to sleep.

As mentioned, locals come here to hang out. But it was overall pretty quiet and it dies down by 11pm. Great view of the lake. Somehow flat. Room for multiple rigs.

It's a Walmart. About 10 RVs and plenty of other car campers here. Loud, near a main road, dogs barking randomly, etc.

Slept for one night, very quiet, well-lit but not too bright so window covers make it dark enough! Very quiet, only a few other trucks/vans. Walmart was very large as well, some restaurants nearby and an auto zone down the street. Watch out for deer on the way here though!

Easy road with lots of spots in the first bit. Didn’t go up into the rocky area but looks like tons of spots available. Wide open field so no privacy but no complaints here.

It really is a beautiful place. I don't understand the complaining about lack of a view when you have so many things to do here. We explored different trails and our dog had the best time playing on the grassy field. Price is now $100 for camping and $25pp for the day.

Quiet side street an residential neighborhood. This corner has a vacant lot so we didn't have to park in front of a house.

The best restaurant in town locals told us. We haven’t tried them all but this is an excellent restaurant with many options, great carnes, the sauces are excellent and the service is absolutely great ! Ricardo is very nice and knows about good food. We highly recommend it ! Right next to the cathedral so very easy to find. For the prices, a very large plate of shrimps or meat starts at 200-250 up to 300-350L. Not cheap but totally worth it.
