Something not right?

Description

There are multiple possible boondocking sites for vans or small RVs along this road off of Hwy 95. The road is technically paved, but it isn't maintained so look out for potholes. There are numerous dirt roads leading away from this road, too, with probably other good campsites.

The site noted here is on top of a little knoll. It has an excellent view and great Verizon coverage. (There was a site I liked better further south but there was no data service there.)

Be aware that this whole area seems to be an old mining site. I noticed a variety of what I assume are fenced off mine openings alongside the road.

Happy camping!

Latest Check-Ins

Just as described. Take care with potholes, there are deep ones. Can hear the highway a bit but not bothersome.

pulled in here, seemed off, lots of trash, did not stay the night

Report Check-In

Great location off the highway. Light road noise. Much cooler. Road has minor bumps.

Report Check-In

it is as described in the previous reviews. Good Verizon service. minimal road noise. it will be slightly difficult to get my trailer back out, but doable. I plan to stay several nights, and I would stay again.

Nice stop for the night. I would not recommend big rigs. Verizon cell service is great AT&T is nonexistent. You will hear highway noise as you’re pretty close to the highway.

I’ve been all over the country and this spot is in my top 5. It reminds me a lot of that scene from “Cars” where McQueen is looking down at RT. 66 and the new, faster highway. I spent all evening watching the cars pass and gazing at the mountains in the distance. Road noise was hardly noticeable and I quite liked it. Be sure to fill up in town before leaving as the next gas station in either direction could be well over 100 miles. I stopped here after coming from the East from Utah and crossed the Extraterrestrial highway so this would make for an excellent start or stop point. There’s a family Dollar just up the road and about 5 gas station/carry outs if you’re needing supplies. The town is interesting to say the least. It’s a small old mining town that’s a tad run down in parts, but has 8 Tesla charging stations. I just find it weird. This spot is relatively clean. There are some abandoned tires and a pop up awning, but someone took the time and organized some of the rubbish. Please do the same if you stay here. It’s a Gem. T-Mobile was excellent. 3-4 bars of LTE. This is about all there is in service in these parts. 10/10 stars.

As described, this is a great boondocking option near Tonopah. Easy to find and get up to, not too much trouble getting level in a 24' RV. We stayed one night. Very quiet, almost no road noise, no one around.
