The price of a matrimonial with bathroom is still 60 soles. Much better than the average hotel you find at this price in Peru! It's clean, bed is comfy, hot shower. Secure garage (enough space for a car, height restriction). WiFi is still not great.

We visited La Rinconada today, we rode here with our motorbikes. The road is paved till more or less 5km before the town, some sections are better than others (expect some big potholes), the last kms before you get there are unpaved, muddy and with big puddles in rainy season but it's still doable with any car, locals do it with minibus. You will also have to cross a massive area of open-air landfill. A paved road to the town is currently being built.
When we arrived the police stopped us, they were extremely friendly but warned us not to go too far into the town and stay on the "main" road otherwise we would risk being shot. We wandered around a little bit, everyone seemed very nice and wanted to take photos with us, we didn't feel in danger while in the town but we didn't stay long.
You obviously don't come here for a nice scenery (though the glacier is impressive), but seeing the conditions people live in here is really eye opening and in some ways fascinating.

We weren't allowed to park with our truck camper inside the gated area, however they told us we could park on the street in front of the building. We continued to the Truck parking spot close to La Paz Centro, which has a guard.

An authentic Mexican bakery. I personally don’t enjoy Mexican sweets much though. They have fresh tortillas and barbacoa and some grocery items in the shop.

We tried to come here with our 2WD truck camper, but had to turn around as there was a spot with very deep sand on a steep hill. Going there might have been okay as it was going down, but fairly sure we wouldn't have made it the way back driving up across this part. It's also just before/after a corner, so difficult to accelerate beforehand. Might be possible during some months, but I guess now just before the start of the rainy season it is just too dry. The way until there was okay, although quite some low hanging branches as usual.

Was planning on staying here but had a violent encounter with someone who tried to break into my can while I was inside. Seemed like a mentally ill character. I'd stay away from here for a while. Had to call the cops, but I don't know if anything will come of it.

Great little campground. Completely full today, got lucky with a reservation that left a couple days early. Site 34 is pretty wet this time of year with snow melt. Lake is still empty and picnic area is closed. Flush toilets are very clean.

if you follow the dirt road you'll first get to a bigger open space that is pretty level and shortly after there is a open space right next to the river. really pretty and quiet. only sound is from the river. you can even go for a dip in the water.

We travel by bicycle. Lovely place next to a church with tables and flat meadow. You can pitch a tent next to the church or a bit further if you are uncomfortable to sleep next to the church. Very quiet place. We have seen no one. Really close to the river.

For Zims it's USD 60$-90$ for a site (front on the river is 90, the ones just back are 60, there's not too much difference in the views unless you're camped behind a big group). Conservation fee was 8$ pp per day, and car fee was $3 per day.
We didn't book ahead, we just showed up with the hope for a more affordable campsite. 2 nights cost us $158, a bit too expensive for camping but we really wanted to visit this national park.

Make sure you pick up a park permit from the parks office, we got ours at Marongora office before getting to the gate here. We didn't have a campsite booked we just got the permit and when we reached mana pools reception paid for our campsite, car and conservation fees.

Lots of spots out these dirt roads. We opted to camp along the blufftop with a view of the Eceabat and the ocean, but you can also find spots secluded in the forest. No rubbish around and we didn't see anyone else. In dry season accessible for any vehicle, no 4x4 required. Private and quiet. 4G on Turkeycell.

Very interesting and cool lost place.
our guide was very astonished about the fact that they built the train tracks in only one year. she missed to mention that this was based on the concentration camp in Lüderitz where 1300 Mamas and Hereros died due to the cold circumstances while they built the train track to Aus in only one year. it's very detailed explained in the Wikipedia article. Maybe asked your guide about it.

Now there's a sand "wall" to block the access from this point. We tried a little bit south of here but we couldn't with our 2wd due to soft sand tracks. I think with 4x4 no problem.

I had an appointment on Thursday. When I went there they told me to come back Saturday as they didn't have time on that Thursday. Then I came again on Saturday and they told me to come back in a week or so.

They also weren't sure if they had the parts for my car on Saturday even though they knew what to get because I showed them already on Thursday.

At the end they decide to take my car in and do the most important maintenance but they still didn't do everything I wanted.

A few corrections on the post here…first, agree 💯 that it is a really great spot. We didn’t see any people at all. Corrections: room for not 20-30 trucks, but 200-300 or more. Also, definitely not a refuge from the little black flies. But all in all, a really great spot to camp. We went to the very back left as far as you can go. It is actually pretty close to the road there, but absolutely hidden.

Good place for one night. Parking space for 2-3 cars, also big rig friendly. Yes there is someone living in the small house, but they don’t bothered us. Very friendly people.
