Free wifi
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Not quiet at all, loud music all night from locals and dogs that keep barking. WiFi costs 3 dollars for people that camp with their own verhicle. You can use the password on multiple devices at a time.
Report Check-InLovely bush camp with bar/restaurant overviewing the lake. Have not met the owners but the staff is very friendly. Lots of wildlife passing by. We even had elephants, zebra and hippo walking through our camp. Unfortunately there was no water 2 out of our 3 days, and the only day there was the pressure wasn’t great. Wifi is working and pretty good but we were surprised we were charged for it afterwards since no one had mentioned this to us before. We had a lovely stay and would recommend this place.
Report Check-InOn the Northern bank of Lake Kariba about 12km from the Kariba boarder post to Zambia.
Hosts are Wayne and his wife Louisa. Frendly, very helpful and accommodating.
2 Safari tents with private brick ablutions and several camping sites between Mopani trees. Clean ablusions with Donkey for hot water.
Restaurant & Bar at Swimmingpool overlooking the lake.
Electricity at most sites. Water potable but not at all sites.
Fast wifi at Restaurant not at sites - included in price.
We stayed for 3 nights and loved the tranquility and wildlife passing through and around the camp - elephants, zebras, waterbuck, Bushbuck and Birdlife of all sorts. Fish Eagles greated us every morning.
Big Rig limited to Iveco Daily 4x4 similar size. No 10Ton Rigs!
On site massage tent in camping area @ USD30 for 1hr.
Price: USD10 pppn camping.
Report Check-InSuch an amazing place.
The owner has taken over management and is still busy expanding the place to cater more for overlanders. So far, there are two sites with electricity, more two come. Several taps with drinking water. Ablution block basic but clean. Hot water from donkey, good pressure in the shower.
Still 10 US$ pppn.
Report Check-InAbsolutely beautiful camp site. Spotless ablutions with hot water. Restaurant and bar overlooking Kariba Dam. Wildlife often roam the site and can also be viewed from the deck at the bar.
Wayne and Louisa were so friendly and helpful. We had a few vehicle issues and Wayne sorted them out immediately which was a bonus.
Would highly recommend for a relaxing few days.
Report Check-InReally awesome campsite!
Lots of space for overlanders. They also have many safari tent options.
Elephants in and around the camp regularly - we watched them drinking from the pool just a few meters in front of the bar!
Great campsite. Clean, nicely thought through, lovely owners. Taking great care of the area and wildlife. Highly recommend.
Report Check-InBeautiful place at the flood plains. Wayne and Louisa are lovely hosts, willing to help wherever they can. Elephants are visiting on a regular, in our case daily, basis and are very tolerant to people. Recommendation!
Report Check-InDue to problems with our car we stayed for several days on this campsite. We consider ourselves very lucky that we had to stay in this place; the owners, Wayne and Louisa were very helpful. The bar and the terrace in front of the bar are a very good place relax and enjoy the view. Elephants, zebra's, hippo's and buffalo's you can see from the terrace. We witnessed even the birth of a elephant, a once in a lifetime experience!
Report Check-InWarthogs is a delightful space and delightful place. Super friendly staff and owners, Wayne and Louisa welcomed me when I arrived and Daniel, Lancelot and Danford took care of my needs. Nice Bar area with a superb view, cold beverages and good food. I enjoyed my time 100%
Report Check-InVery hospitable campsite / tented accommodation
Owners are extremely pleasant and helpful
Free Wifi at bar - has very reasonable restaurant and bar
Nice view of Lake from bar, clean ablutions with hot water and electricity
Campsite under development , tight fit for big rigs,
I'm the owner. I just wanted to say that the description is now 13 years old....we moved to our current spot in 2013. We do not have just one potable water tap. ...we have heaps. We have en-suite safari tents, non en suite safari tents, doe tents, camping. We now have finished the ablution block. We have electricity points for campers. We also have a restaurant, pub and splash pool. And lots of elephants and other wildlife.
Report Check-InWe had a very nice experience there as there were lots of elephants walking through the garden of the camp. We saw very small baby elephant as well as big male ones. They are coming very close but the owners are taking good care of everyone! So you can really enjoy!!!
They are are building the ablutions for campers at the moment, one ready, one still in process and they will also built a kitchen for their guests.
The owner and the staff are nice and incredibly helpful. We had a problem with our truck, needed some welding and they stopped their building process and took care of your truck.
Now 10 USD pppn (WiFi free).
Not really a Campsite anymore. Stayed next to an old cottage in their car park to use the ablutions as no other ones available. Space has been converted for deluxe tents $50-75 pppn. Asked us for $15 per site plus $3 WiFi. Negotiated to $30 for 3 nights with WiFi for 2 people. Didn't meet the owner but employees were all friendly. No lake view for campers unless you go to the restaurant.
Report Check-InVery nice bushcamp, clean shower and toilet. Good meals. Very nice and helpful staff.
Report Check-Ingood campsite for 5$USppn. ablutions okay, much better than in mana pools! swimming pool and view on the Kariba lake. Food is also okay.
Report Check-Ingreat camp still 5usd per person. wifi is very fast and nice staff! hippos and elefants around
Report Check-InNice location, basic but fine, good food small pool, staff very friendly and helpful, loads of hippos to see. Price still 5$/ppn.
Report Check-InSorry... but nothing like Ngepi on the Caprivi! Nice enough. Price is good at $5pppn. Hopping on a Saturday night. Food good but pricey. Showers hot with good water flow. Hippos nearby. George very helpful.
Report Check-InNothing to add - just that there is at least one campsite with electricity. Nice view from bar/pool area and friendly staff
Report Check-InThe cheapest and, in my opinion, the best campsite in Kariba. Very simple but perfectly good enough with little touches that make it special- far more character than any of the other sites we looked at. A bit of a ‘Ngepi’ vibe but on a much smaller scale, for those whose have visited the infamous Namibian camp!
Camping on bare ground under trees. Water and electricity points available (shared rather than on every pitch). Showers with donkey boiler. Bar and restaurant, reasonably priced with delicious food. Elephants and hippos came through camp.
US$5 pppn.
Only downside is that the bar is popular with locals and can get a bit noisy in the evenings (we were there at the weekend). Music was switched off immediately on our request though.
Basic campsite, with a nice view to a little part of the lake, no sunset view but there are always hippo's out in the water in front of you, camping 5 usd pppn, beer 2 usd for 340 ml bottles.
Report Check-InElectricity here has been cut off ( due to bills not being paid we were told) and so relies on very noisy old diesel generator. This is switched on part time but thankfully broke down when we were there. Fast wifi when electricity on. Distant music all night but didn't keep us awake (but hippos did 🙂 ). Lots of camping spaces and small trees but not much shade. Could be tricky with a big vehicle but perhaps they could find a more accessible place. Handy place for border crossing spoiled by electricity/generator situation. Nice views and animals roaming close by.
Report Check-InManager, Barbara, was very hospitable and invited me to set my tent up near the bar due to heavy rain. Wifi was fast and free, and the staff set up a warm shower for me in one of the houses the following morning. Would stay here again.
Report Check-Innice spot by the lake. $5ppn. toilets/showers are basic but fine. hippos, elephants and zebra in the area. friendly staff.
Report Check-InBasic place but cool bar and great views. It's the local friendly watering hole and rugby is also on the box. Hippos in the lake in front of the camping. No fencing around the camp because it's a game corridor but they put a watchman on our tent the whole night. 5$pppn camping. 15$ pn pre standing tent (sleeps two) and 45$ for a cabin.
Report Check-InNice and simple bushcamp along lake. Ablutions still to be improved though clean and with warm water from wood fire. Prices still at US$5 pppn.
Report Check-InCamping (self sufficient) $5 pppn. Decent, basic campsite with gas/wood available for campers. Decent bar and good view of lake & flats. Crocs & hippo out front, elephants frequently pass through. No wifi. Small dogs tolerated but must be kept on lead.
Report Check-InCampsite has just been relocated to this position. Elephants walk through the camp.
