Mana Pools NP Gate 1 | Tourist Attraction

Make sure you pick up a park permit from the parks office, we got ours at Marongora office before getting to the gate here. We didn't have a campsite booked we just got the permit and when we reached mana pools reception paid for our campsite, car and conservation fees.

Make sure you got your entry permit from any of the ZimParks offices. Otherwise you cannot enter here. From Zamiba coming the closest is at Chirundu border or just up the escarpment.

Can go through here without a booking. We just said that we’ll book campsites at Main camp. Took about an hour to drive from here to the 2nd gate. Road pretty corrugated at first. Very friendly staff here, especially Olivia.

You can go through even without a booking. Booking are only checked at Reception after gate 2. It takes you about 30min to get to gate 2. There is a working toilet here.

Must pass through here for mana pools. You need a permit though. Get one next to Chirundu border (old bridge) or climb escarpment a few km south.

No payment here.

We passed through with our big rig ok but have heard sometimes they try to dissuade trucks. We had few problems in the park.

It was pretty dry when we visited and the road was OK except for some very annoying badly corrugated sections! I think it’s worse in the wet season, but either way not a fast road so you should definitely allow plenty of time.

You do need to have collected your permit before arriving here otherwise you will be sent away.
