Chitake campsite 1 is so far the best site for engagement with lions, elephants, kudu, warthogs and many more. This campsite is not big rig friendly. Only a pit toilet no showers.
This site is the best of three sites and right on the river edge not far from the spring. We heard the lions roar the whole night and saw 7 adult lions and 4 cub’s not far from the campsite. Also notable is about 4 km from the campsite on a hill are many ancient baobab trees on a hill. It is a site to behold. We recommended this place and give it a 5 star for being close to the wildlife!

We first went to Frenchmen Coulee east of Columbia River but it got too windy in the middle of night and came to this rest area away from the wind. We parked on the truck side, which is right by the freeway. It’s very noisy from the freeway traffic and the truck running engines.

I think I ended up at another spot very near by - will set it up separately. Was a nice little circle in the woods, with a trail to the lake.

Lovely campsite not far out of busy Harare. Convenient on the Harare/Bulawayo road. Large grassy area. Lots of shade. New ablution block which is clean and lots of hot water. Big rig friendly.
Bar and restaurant.
Friendly and helpful owners Gary and his son Joshua.

We stayed here one night in a Sprinter van right at the fork of the two roads. Safe, nice and quiet, not too far off the main road. You can drive in a bit further and there's another spot for a small rig. Good place to walk the dogs safely too.

Gorgeous view on the top! Even after a year in South America this is still a very beautiful spot. The first gate is open from 8:30 to 17:30. If you have Rut even as foreigner, try to use it - than 3500clp. From the gate up it is 3 hours of normal fast walking a little less down. There is a lot of Magellanic woodpeckers to spot in the trees along the way.

it is a parking lot, busy during morning and after 5pm. Maybe difficult for rigs over 30 feet. We have a truck camper 26' and it just ok. Still no sign of any kind. This place is a bit separated from the street, more then the other parking lot. saw a coyote !!

Established public campsite. Includes table, fire pit, and game dressing gantry. Immediately adjacent to Big Snowbird Creek. Parking space for two normal vehicles. It’s a good, comfortable campsite. There is an adjacent campsite that is not visible, but smoke from its fire is noticeable. Big Snowbird Road (a Forest Service road) is adjacent but not bothersome.

Nice place to stop for the weekend. Water was low but there was no smoke. Need a public lands camping pass - easy to get on line.

Bathrooms were pit toilets but were clean and stocked.

Suitable for everything from tents to busses.

As described before. Nice place in walking distance to the town center and the market. The owners are super friendly and we had three calm and quiet nights here. Cost is 100 Quetzals/night. Access was a bit tight but manageable for our big rig (9m long, 3.86m high)
