Nice flat spot with a cute little rock ring for a fire. Circular tree area good spots to put a hammock. Close to some hiking trails we've had 6/7 people hike up here in a span of a 1/2 to 2 hours. Haven't seen any cars yet will update when we leave.

Before you take the 1 hour drive here, be aware that you will park right next to a house. They don't seem to be bothered, but surely not a seldom spot. Otherwise nice views of the lake. Spotty 3G/4G Claro only with a clear sky, no connection when the clouds come down and it gets foggy.

Parking is free from 6PM to 8AM and Sundays. Lot's of free places around 4.30PM when museum closes. All day people parc here to go to the museum. During the day it is 2$ per hour with parcmeter. Have to pay 2 places if you have a big rig. Fine is 40$. We stayed all WE and payed partly. Calm at night and close to metro stations.

Important: For all overnight camping in the Gorge, you are required to purchase an overnight backcountry pass from the visitor center. It was only $5 for one night or $7 for three.

There are a few restrictions, but there are a ton of places to stay overnight in the park. We chose to stay at Chimney Rock and just stayed in the vehicle, but you could set up tents if you wish (just make sure you read the restrictions first). At this location, there are bathrooms and nice hikes from here. Great stargazing as well, but you need to hike a little to get out of the trees.

There is also good wifi here, unlike most other places in the park. Both AT&T and Verizon.

Amazing location, worth the effort to get here. I followed the previous posters route and it worked well to avoid the hills. 2wd no problem in good weather. My GPS track was added to the photos with notes.

They have a dump near the propane fill up. It’s 10 $ to dump but the water is free. It is potable water, I confirmed with three people inside and once on the phone.

We have spent 2 nights with our camper in front of their house. The owners are suuuper friendly! They organized us a trip to the Isla de Plata (hike, snorkeling, turtles and lunch) with the taxi getting us to Puerto Lopez and bringing us back for 45 dollars per person. Quite night with sound of waves, very nice. Bathroom very clean.
