The Children Of Zion Village is an orphanage next to the beautiful Zambezi River.
We were camping next door and heard singing & laughing and walked over to investigate. I found this wonderful orphanage with 53 children on site! We were invited to their village church on Sunday and made friends with the directors.
Their main sponsor is the Mount Zion Church in Maryland USA, but are always in need of some donations. We made a brief documentry about the location and left a donation.
*Note, this is not a tourist attraction or a place to stay, this is the home of 50+ children.
*We were never asked to make a donation, but such an organization would likely appreciate any help you might offer.

Absolutely beautiful, quiet and sage place right on the lake below Quilima. Follow the dirt road through the village, the last 200 m are quite rough. 4x4 recommended, but not required, except in rainy season. Wide area for camping, but careful: soft and hard sand patches - check on foot beforehand! Yesterday i pulled out two family cars wiith my winch 😎 entel coverage

There were 9 RVs on the near side of the dam and only one truck camper on the far side. There one vault toilet on each side - take your own light even in daytime and hand sanitizer. The toilet was clean with plenty of toilet paper and no smell. We heard no noise from other campers. Turns out this is a birding hotspot - about 30 pelicans, so it must be good for fishing too. Also a couple types of swallows, red winged blackbirds, herons, eared grebes, some ducks and geese.

No issues while camping here. it is a very busy place. if you don't like people don't stay here.

Very friendly people. Went for a self-wash and nail trim, but they only have self-serve dog wash Tues-Fri. :( The gal who did my lil-guys’ nails was amazing with him; it was the calmest he’s ever been for a trim. Be aware though that if you pay with card they charge an extra $5.

A lovely maintained site with blue swimming pool and impeccably clean. We came to camp but ended up opting for family room (sleeps 5; 1600 pula). Incredibly friendly hosts with a cosy bar and restaurant offering a set menu for dinner with traditional South African farmer fare. Recommended.

As stated. Camping is USD 20/ pula 240 pp - half price for children. Friendly hosts. Campsite is very basic, but you are truly in the bush between animals.

We did the rhino tracking with San Bushmen running ahead of the vehicle to read the tracks and locating one of the rhinos. 250 pula each- also the children. On Wednesday and Saturday you can watch them feed the predators they are rehousing 150 pula each.

NOTE: they are 60km from the main road on a sandy track and there are 17 gates to open and close. Be prepared for a 2-3 hour diversion.

NOTE: The campsite is located very far from the lodge.

Relatively quiet spot, in a side street. 5 min. from Rodeo Drive. Public Parking at road side. Sign says 10h max parking (during the day, except Sundays), but no regulations during night (except Wednesdays 1-3 am for Street sweeping). Stayed here for a night Sa-Sun, no issues.
Minimal parking fees during the day (metered, around 75c per hour). Good spot for dry camping, but be discrete!

Camping is allowed at the large boat ramp parking. When the Salmon are running there was a dozen or so rigs. No problems & Orofino is a great town to base out of for a few days. The local hot dog stand is worth a stop too. A little laundromat & 3 or 4 grocery stores as well as a free dump station across the river with the great cell service make this a great area.

This sight is parking in front of a bar. They come around noon to make sure that people have paid to stay throughout the day, but we stayed for 2 nights and just left during the day to do other things. No one bothered us. There was a portapotty and there is one spout with running water; I'm not sure if its potable, but it's definitely good for rinsing off your feet with. I posted about it yesterday but wanted to add more pictures today of the specific location.

Still nice, but the pool is under reconstruction.
The place was fairly empty, so we negotiated the price down to 600 Pula, w/o breakfast!

No water avaliable. there's a water fountain that doesn't work & a water spigot that requires a special key to turn on. you're better off buying some from in town.

Nice place to spend the night. It closes at 21:00 and open at 6:00 am. They were very kind. We parked behind the convenience store, close to the restroons and te energy plug.
Successfully crossed Bolivia -> Peru.

Overall very quick and streamlined process. I arrived after a bus and still was in and out in ~1 hour (once I was across the bridge).

The only hiccup was crossing the bridge. They asked for a "tamizaje" (health check). I got this at El Centro de salud a block north of the main plaza on the Peruvian side of Desaguadero. I had to park on the Bolivian side near the pedestrian crossing and walk past both migrations (10min). They checked for 3 vaccinations, but I didn't ask if it was okay with just 2.

This and three other Metro stations have designated large vehicle/RV spots. We stayed at Greenbelt and Shady Grove. Weekday have overnight and 12hr limitations (see attached photo of signage). Weekends are wide open - early Sat thru late Sun are free and no worries.

Well lit lots, away from the station and no foot traffic.

Train into DC is easy and so worth not parking closer to DC.

Near the toiletts there is a potable water spigot. Not very close to the parking lot so a bit difficult to use for filling up your tank bit perfect for bottles. Maybe with a long hose you can do it? (About 15 meters)
