When you arrive, stop in the "new Niega village". Take the road just before the school to go the house of the Chef de Village, name Roger. If you go directly to the beach, some young mens will explain you that you don't need to go to see him, they will do it for you. But it's not true. Go to see him by yourself and ask him the permission to stay here. After that you go to the beach and tell to the mens that you already discuss with the chef and you have the permission to stay here. And explain that you know that you don't have to pay.
You will meet the lovely Marie France. A really friendly woman. She loves to speak with visitors and preparing a nice meal.
Nice place to meet nice people !

Large grass area near the chapel and drinking water source. You have ti drive along an unpaved road, but 4x4 not really needed I think.

Large flat area shielded by walls of lava flow. Lots of flat areas and even some sandy hollows for tents. Very quiet.
Hidden from the road.

Small canyon just off rp44 along the link road to rp43. Good wind shelter from the Northwest to South West and East.
Some caves with built up with stone walls if you need them and a couple of owls hooting at each other. There was nothing but a gravel plain between here and Antagofasta.
There's a small flowing river that has clean looking waters, at least good enough for washing, boiling and cooking.

Nice place. 3 PicnicTables w BBQ. The rest area dies not have any signs, but few feet away by the toilets is a sign w “ No overnight camping”. When we drove in, around 6 pm, with our 24ft motorhome, the ranger was just driving out and did not stop. We spent the night in the rest area and nobody checked on us. Very nice area around the lake, with small boat lounges spots and bbqs. Indeed, there are some things in the grass, maybe ticks? Also, a lot of mosquitoes.

Restrooms were typical of older rest area facilities. Not as bad as some report. Darker and well lit areas available. Not well signed coming off the freeway so use GPS.

Very quiet place, the road is in good condition, low branches (11 feet can go through touching a little bit). A neighbor house with loud music but stopped at 9:00 pm

Came through here, southbound, nothing really sketchy about this place. yes the guys are not marked but they're either FGE or aduana looking for smugglers and contraband.
trucks and large vehicles are stopped amd searched. Everyone else can go through.
there are similar checkpoints in oaxaca and chiapas.

Very nice place, basic amenities, cold shower. Contact was through the daughter which has her own place in Guatape so her parents did not know we will arrive. Nevertheless they were very welcoming and sweet

Perfect place to rest and spend a few pleasant days next to the beaches of Cuyo. They have very good internet, water, bathrooms and showers. There is also a shared kitchen. Best of all, they have a place to empty their dirty water tanks

293 rand for the two of us in a tent - but they didn’t have change so really it was 300 ;) The whole place is secured with fences and a big entrance gate but judging from empty bottles etc locals do use it as a hangout spot. It was deserted when we were there though, with no one except a security guard who sits outside the ablutions all night to prevent people stealing the pipes.

It’s a huge site, it’s really worth pitching your tent beyond the brick ablutions as before that the sites are covered in thousands of spiky balls that will puncture through groundsheets and pop your sleeping mattresses etc (they did ours!). We had literally hundreds of these spikes stuck in our bicycle tyres and flip-flops so be warned!

Google maps showed as closed but was actually open. Small rest stop, well lit, restrooms, dog area, picnic tables, vending machines. Stayed one night unbothered.

Stayed one night in a tent next to the lake. It was extremely unclear if it was open or we should pay but in the end 4 groups including us camped there and no one asked us for money. Possibly too early for the season.
Overall a beautiful place! You can hear the train crossing the bridge but it’s not too bad.
Some locals said hi in the morning when they came to enjoy their coffee by the water, very friendly!
Please clean up after yourself! There’s lots of garbage bins and toilets available, no need to mess up this beautiful park.

Quase um wild camping, a falta de energia elétrica é o charme do lugar, só acho que o banho poderia ser aquecido de outras formas. Banheiros muito bom. Experiência ímpar.

Was set up on a street nearby and a cop came to give us a ticket even though there was no explicit signs because it was “residential only” in that area. He was very nice and didn’t give us a ticket but just told us to move to beacon hill park and nobody will care if we stay there. Was a pretty peaceful night once we drove and got set up here, easy to find parking even at 9pm.

We crossed Argentina - Paraguay with no problems. Friendly staff, routine questions. They didn't check the car. No waiting time on either side.

Nice gas station to sleep. Agree with the previous comments. The showers have hot water. There were also people camping in tents when we were there. They put their tents in the sheltered cooking area in the back

Spent one lovely quiet night here. Felt safe although we can't say we know whether it's actually safe to boondock around this area. They hold a yearly festival here and there is a monument marking a 2003 Pavarotti concert - must have been good! Bit of trash and looks like people come to ride around and hang out on weekends, but we were alone on a weekday. Occasionally cars come and go on the laguna, you can see anyone coming from miles away. You can just see the highway but far enough away to be quiet. The ground looked soft but was surprisingly hardpacked, at least at this time of year. Decent amount of shade available. Nice sunset and a good sleep after staying in Mexicali carparks!

Great public campsite, enjoyed the place and pricing is good compared to other places. Bathrooms are nice and clean, it comes with a braai stand, table and a thatched roof where you can shelter. Water on site but no power.

As others described, there are 2-3 pull offs from the dirt road. There was someone parked in that first larger spot so I kept going to the second one in. Pretty rutty but my Nissan Rogue had no problems. Rained in the morning so I left because I was worried it would get stuck.

Dormimos aquí una noche, muy tranquilo, seguro y silencioso, sin embargo empieza el movimiento a eso de las 7 de la mañana.
Nuestra perrita tuvo un lugar acogedor para caminar un poco, conocer otras mascotas.

Waves crashes the shore 5-10 meters from campsite. Quiet little site, decent facilities, small shop just up the road. Several shops and places to eat nearby. Friendly brothers (speak German and some English) keep place tidy. No WiFi and 4G is dodgy, so grab a book or decent company instead 😉.
