Description

Lovely little village called Niega, stunning beach and lagoon. Road is an easy dirt track (at least in the dry season). For me, most beautiful and peaceful spot in CI. Warm welcome by the village elder, excellent place to wild camp (ask first :) really nice place!

Latest Check-Ins

When you arrive, stop in the "new Niega village". Take the road just before the school to go the house of the Chef de Village, name Roger. If you go directly to the beach, some young mens will explain you that you don't need to go to see him, they will do it for you. But it's not true. Go to see him by yourself and ask him the permission to stay here. After that you go to the beach and tell to the mens that you already discuss with the chef and you have the permission to stay here. And explain that you know that you don't have to pay.
You will meet the lovely Marie France. A really friendly woman. She loves to speak with visitors and preparing a nice meal.
Nice place to meet nice people !

Report Check-In

We stayed at Niega with 2 other overlander families. Camp was amazing, between the river and the sea (big waves!).
Locals came by, as usual in Africa, some of them being quite insistant / drunk. However no one bothered us in evenings / nights during our stay (4 days).

Marie France is the person you want to connect with (she’s amazing, living very close to the place where you can camp).

You need to check in with the village chief when you arrive (we didn’t, and got quite into an argument with him). We gave him a bottle of liquor and 5000cfa to cool down the discussion.

1kg of fresh Lobster 6000cfa.
Clean water from the pump at the entrance of the village.

Lovely and quiet village we stayed there for 3 nights, we camped under coconut trees between the mangroove and the beach, you can fish there and have a nice journey in the mangroove with pirogue. You can also buy some lobster for cheap.
