Latest Check-Ins

The policia came by around 7pm on a Monday and was curious what we were up to and where home is for us. We told them we wanted to stay here for a night and then cross the border the next day. They were very concerned that this spot isn't safe for us to sleep overnight, so we left. We didn't feel unsafe per se, but we also didn't want to risk it or cause any trouble. The policia were very nice the whole time.

Spent one lovely quiet night here. Felt safe although we can't say we know whether it's actually safe to boondock around this area. They hold a yearly festival here and there is a monument marking a 2003 Pavarotti concert - must have been good! Bit of trash and looks like people come to ride around and hang out on weekends, but we were alone on a weekday. Occasionally cars come and go on the laguna, you can see anyone coming from miles away. You can just see the highway but far enough away to be quiet. The ground looked soft but was surprisingly hardpacked, at least at this time of year. Decent amount of shade available. Nice sunset and a good sleep after staying in Mexicali carparks!
