293 rand for the two of us in a tent - but they didn’t have change so really it was 300 ;) The whole place is secured with fences and a big entrance gate but judging from empty bottles etc locals do use it as a hangout spot. It was deserted when we were there though, with no one except a security guard who sits outside the ablutions all night to prevent people stealing the pipes.

It’s a huge site, it’s really worth pitching your tent beyond the brick ablutions as before that the sites are covered in thousands of spiky balls that will puncture through groundsheets and pop your sleeping mattresses etc (they did ours!). We had literally hundreds of these spikes stuck in our bicycle tyres and flip-flops so be warned!

Camp site with chalets.
Large camp site next to a reservoir. Nice location but sadly underused,

Report Check-In

this place is horrible. ablutions are in a poor state. the drunken locals playing booming music are very much present. the whole camping is filled with tiny spiky balls that might prove a hazard for ones equipment. the price is ridiculously high if camping by yourself(225 high season and without electricity). Only stay if you must.

We planned to stay for two days. But then we met Sean Phillips and Frans two lokal guys and we stayed two other days. Frans is 73 years old and was born in Clanwlliam. He has a lot of knowledge about this region and fun to pass on his knowledge to foreigners. He invited us to a trip in his car into the beautiful Cider Mountains, show us the shoe factory and the lokal museum and lot of more. He knows in addition, where you can find the very old paintings on the rocks. It really dosen’t cost much to rent him as a guide. His contact number is: TEL.: 0027 737813274

Great campsite on reservoir, hot showers and about 5 other campers. 186 R for 2 ppl (seniors). Clean washrooms and lots of room. Power at sites if you need. We don’t need power. Some sites with water too.
