Next to the parking for visitors there is another entrance for parking. On the north side there is a track leading to a secluded place with trees and other vegetation. Good place to spend the night with shelter for wind.

We let our Combi for 3 days in this parking and it was perfect. The guy was super nice and he told us that it's guard 24/24h (we didn't check during the night...).

At the level street almost any kind of vehicle seems to fit, and at the 1st floor we did park with our van of 2m60.

We paid 1800/24h.

Very nice place to camp with lots of grass in between the river and a cacao field. If you are camping in a tent, pitch it closer to the cacao field because there are a lot of lights at night in the main grass area. The hosts are very friendly and you can eat all the fruits you want. We paid $15 for two people in a tent. The bathroom/restroom is not the best but they offered us breakfast for free in the morning. You can also swim in the river if you don't mind muddy water.

After having the ABS light show up on the dash at 4pm on a Friday afternoon, I quickly googled a local sprinter specialist and found German Auto Master.

I called and Mike promptly answered. He said I could come that same day and he would diagnose the issue (he was closing at 5pm and graciously gave us his time!) He truly is a Sprinter Specialist with knowledge about everything Sprinter related.

I’ve done all of my own mechanical work on the Sprinter thus far and have a good understanding on the vehicle, and when talking with Mike it was very clear he had knowledge above and beyond regular mechanics.

He had the sensor I needed replaced in stock and was able to install it Monday morning. He was able to get us back on the road quickly as we were passing by on a road trip.

Highly recommend for maintenance or repairs, Mike will get your issue sorted out the right way.

This place is really beautiful and peaceful. There’s a nice restaurant nearby with delicious smoothies. Clean bathrooms.
The only downside was that we didn’t had phone reception (Claro) and there is no wifi.

We came with our dog for vaccination and a health certificate. Dr. Quijano Canul was very nice and extremely helpful. She advised us on all the vaccinations, even looked up our german medication and gave us the adequate ones. And she was very helpful with all the paper work for crossing border to Belize and Guatemala. She speaks very good English.
It is not an emergency practice. You have to make an appointment either by phone or WhatsApp. The price for just a consultation is 450$. As we also bought medicine and had vaccinations and paper work of course we had to pay more.
I would highly recommend this vet! They know what they do and are very friendly and helpful!

I pitched a tent here for one night, and it was excellent. I asked two locals before going about this place, and they said it's good and secure to camp. Some people were there when I arrived, but all left before dark. Everyone was friendly. In the morning, I took a bath in the lagoon. The mobile reception (Telcel) was great.

C’est une petite place de parking (il y a un petit panneau qui le précise) juste avant… la plage 🙂. C’est joli, calme et éclairé. Allez y!

Very busy campground with good bathroom facilities and space to hand wash clothes. Unfortunately the wifi is garbage and the owners are rude.

A good place for a night before you ferry. Really crowded, both with campers and locals, so we wouldn't stay here for an extended period of time, but it's convenient and there's a great cell reception which disappears if you go anywhere further north.

Really nice site, follow the gps coordinates with googles maps and it’s not a problem. It takes you towards the spot but doesn’t recognize one of the trails so at the fork in the road take a right and it will be on your left. Left some extra wood there that we didn’t use.

Very unprofessional !! Needed springs teinforced on 12 yo truck camper. Visited his shop and was told to be there 08:00 next morning for appointment. was to pay in advance $2,500 Mxp which I did. the estimate was fair by no means cheap. Brought in 08:00 next day. Was told will be done by 5:00pm. After 4 miles to and from malecon returned at 5:00pm to find they havent started yet. They were working on heavy truck. I was told to come back at 11:00 pm will be done. Returned again after 2 mile hike and taxi to return from malecon. Still had not started. Was told it would cost $2,000 Mxp more than quote. Ok I said proceed. I am senior citizen so went to lay down in camper. They worked at least one of them till 7:00 am and was told their finished and I coukd check their work. Found a few things and these were done. I paid in full including upcharge of $2,000 Mxp. To my horror listening on a trip to Pichilingue found ALL arraching bolts loose and one long stovebolt and nut for the airbag hanger missing totalling. Now I need to go back and complain. Did notice they were drunk and stoned during their night shift. This is never a good sign. Do not use these flakes for anything in the future. I also found wheelwell paint pulled off carelessly and will need a repaint.

No ‘no camping signs’ posted, but security said parking for 24 hours is allowed. I’ve stayed at this spot numerous times with other RVs, vans and busses. I typically park near Tesla charging stations, closest to Starbucks and have never been bothered.

Finca Sommerwind has become an institution of its own kind in the overlanding community, deservedly so. It is a place where long term travellers congregate, come and go, meet old friends, creating an atmosphere like no other. Hans checks on everything and will try to help in any practical matter. A place to visit if you would like to meet interesting others.

It's possible to get close to the river on the other side of the bridge, lots of room for a vehicle.
Locals seem to come quite often to spend the afternoon, but also stay at night and drink, but if you are a cyclist there is a small path at the end of the beach which will lead you to a quiet area where you can pitch the tent.

We stayed here for a month with our 37ft Skoolie and parked right in front. We had access to wifi and power for when we needed to recharge our batteries. We even had friends show up in their Skoolie. It's a really great little community garden nestled in the rainforest and just a short walk to Lake Atitlán.

It's also a really short trip to Santiago to check out the market and get whatever supplies you need.
