A good spot with mountain view. All around are Mango trees. We met the farmer and he was totally ok with staying here. There is even a waterless toilet we could use (normally for the workers). Really quiet place. We decided to stay two days enjoying walks through the landscape.

MTN mobile had no connection but Vodacom is really good internet speed up here.

Quiet, easy access spot with a beautiful view of Mt Ararat. Hidden from the highway. Stayed one night, two Shepards stopped to talk. Both were friendly and we shared a coffee. We hiked to the top of the ridge line to the north for a beautiful panoramic view.

beautiful place. though towards the end of the rainy season there is water all along the way, so the animals seem a bit more spread out, and the drive might be more challenging. You might not need to go all the way. again, might be more interesting in dry season. a few tracks now, many birds around.

This is a fishing club camp of some sort. It is pretty trashed, not sure if it’s because it is off season, because it’s no longer used or that’s just how it is. There are two entrances to come down here, one of them is gated but was open when we were here. If you come in this road it takes you to the buildings, which has a couple tent pads and picnic tables, but if you keep driving along the river (the other road going away from the river takes you back up to the main road), it dead ends riverside and is surrounded by trees so no one can see you from the road. There is quite a bit of trash, but it was a pretty decent stopover spot, so we cleaned it up and it’s far enough away from everything else that you can put it out of mind.

It was 150 for a Landy (incl. 2 people). As said before, you can only pay with mpesa. We asked the people working there and they helped us to buy the tickets. Very easy and organised. Waiting time was around 15 min.

We camped all alone about 5km away from the main lodge, up on a hill besides a heap of huge rocks. Beautiful 360° scenery. Peaceful and very quiet. Very safe.

You contact the owner, Marius. Very nice man, very friendly. Tel no: 0766103739. He is also on WhatsApp. Prices on website, simply google "Nigramoep".

What you receive:
* NO electricity
* NO drinking water
* Relative okay cell phone signal

REMEMBER:
1. Leave nothing but your foot prints.
2. Never litter!
3. Take your rubbish with you.
4. Always leave a camping spot in the same way you would like to get it.

Worth hiking. Waterfalls are not that grand but hike has beautiful mountain views. 3-4 hours including the other waterfall at a leisurely pace

After rains 4x4 needed. We parked at intersection of the pine forest before this point as it was less exposed. Decent vodacom network. No one bothered but you could see house lights in distance. We did not see animals. You can drive further in for more shade.

Closed with a fence. Certainly for the winter so that the pipes don't freeze. Not written when the fence will be removed.

Another campground in the typical style of the Park Service. A range of styles are offered: for RVs, tent only and a mix (for those who sleep in or on their vehicle), most pretty spacious. They're not all level and we had to try a few times on our site (30). Came in without reservations, and even though the "camp full" sign was posted. Paid USD 35 for one night.

The nightly sea fog made everything very damp, almost like it rained, which was nice after months of Mexican drought.

Good for a night would recommend the Walmart about 10 minutes away over here. No wifi and the lots of loud trucks but free and pretty level

Remarkably friendly staff, nice sized lots, wasn't overcrowded and the air is perfumed with citrus blossoms. Good wifi connection. Didn't check the bathroom/laundry facilities but it looks like they're remodeling them now.

Road out to site is not bad, a bit bumpy but do-able in 2wd. There is a site above this one suited for RVs or fifth wheels. On the Dolores river, surrounded by canyon walls. There is a fire pit but signs say no wood collecting in area. There are a lot of spots in this area. There is a hard stand vault toilet where the road turns from pavement to dirt a few miles before. No Verizon cell service. Occasional 4x4s crossing the river. Not very level, but good enough.

Camper Ares next to the centre of toen with view in the mountains. 7 places down and 5 up. Payment by app. € 8 for first day, € 3 for next. With sanitary dump, water and electricity. Big rigs: have a look first, before you drive down to the area. A Unimog is no problem.

This spot is just down the road from the other spot marked. Large area could accommodate multiple vehicles. Someone spent time making it look nice please keep it that way.

Don't trust Google maps it does not know this road exists. Look for a dirt road on the left and drive until you're at the marked spot.

One of the best spots I've camped at beautiful views of UTE mountain and some of the canyon. Trail is just below the ridge.

Excellent Verizon coverage no booster needed.

APRIL 2022 UPDATE

It's a little of a logistical hassle to get here. As others have stated there has been a land dispute at the Mex 8 entrance and it's closed, so the entrance at Mex 2 is the only way in and out now. We went to the visitor center Schuk Toak on Mex 8, they gave us some information on how to get here, but we weren't asked to pay for a permit. They did say we had to pay at the entrance on Mex 2, but there was nobody to be seen when we arrived. It's a beautiful area and well worth a visit, if you know how to get here. I uploaded two screenshots of the roads that are now in use according to the visitor center. Pay close attention when you drive back from Cerro Colorado and don't drive south towards Mex 8. Very soft sand and the road there is blocked with boulders (because of that land dispute).

Grassy beach at Balaton. There are security cameras and public lighting. Few fishermen around but there were no tents, only mine.

Nice place in the dunes, 20 metres from beach and sea. You can follow the unpaved road from the final parking lot in the forest into the dunes and very close to Mangu Beach. Spectacular sunsets to be expected! Enjoy …
