Great place. We stayed 6 days (mainly to spend those cheap pesos before we cross back to Uruguay. Exceptionally clean bathrooms but be sure to turn on the COLD water first for showers and then adjust accordingly. The hot water is burning hot. 1650 pesos per day for two people with a motorhome. Lots of good places to walk in many directions. Good shopping. Right on the river. Wifi only available near office. Efficiently run and secure. Good parking for big rigs (special gate entrance). Relatively flat.

Short little sidestreet. There is a trail here, but it's unmarked and doesn't appear on any maps, so not a lot of traffic. Stayed here one night, no problems.

Large pet area, it's not fully enclosed, but also away from parking so you could probably let your dog go off-leash.

We are traveling with 2 motorcycles and asked the restaurant owner if there was somewhere we could pitch our tent and he showed us a small paddock at the entrance to the restaurant car park, right on the edge of the gauge. No charge!
Stunning location.

I have stayed here a few single nights passing through this area. It's not bad at all & you can get a little back in there too. I see others boondockers, but it has never been crowded. I was awakened to someone target practicing at 6:30 am once. It's close to many things like Walmarts & restaurants, and grocery stores.

Stayed 3 nights this week, including the Sunday right before Semana Santa, and it was incredibly peaceful! No reception with Telcel (but it only drops 200m up the road, so you can always walk to get it if you need). Access is a little rough, but made it fine in our 2WD van. Such a gem of a spot super close to town!

Price is still Gs 10.000 and for us it was worth to visit. The walk through the park, next to the tower, without the carved figures is nice.

Costa Rica to Panama

Migration on Costa Rica side took 3 minutes as we had paid online the $8, then suspended the TIP, they just checked the VIN.

On Panama side we were stopped on the bridge an they checked the papers before they sent us down passed the duty frees to the various offices.

Paid the 10$ community road tax, 10$ fumigation! (Big truck) - all with receipt. Then animal Check, paid 40 for 2 dogs and used our papers from Nicaragua which were copied. As it was Sunday they promised to send the paperwork via email.

Then aduana, insurance was closed, paid 30 per vehicle insurance to aduana. Received TIP.

Changed money at the chinese shop (pass under the Bridge).

All very easy, friendly and relaxed.

Very nice place, staff are friendly and helpful. There are 3 water spigots, all non-potable. The one already mentioned is closest to the parking lot. Another is in the middle of the park and a third is on the other side of the snack building. It's farther away from the parking lot.
Also, there is a "no overnight parking" sign in the truck area, but staff said I could stay overnight on the "car" side. Clean bathrooms.
Very busy on weekends. I had to wait for parking spots near water spigot to open up and then wait again to get out.

Parking place next to the main park, during the week it is quiet, on weekends it is somewhat noisy there is a night watchman.

Pull off at the Acoma-Zuni Trailhead. There is no « No overnight » neither « No camping» sign. It could be an option for overnight camping if the Joe Skeen Campground is full. We didn’t stay here because we were at Joe Skeen Campground.

Definitely a pricier stop for groceries but it’s the only place we’ve found kale and a few other items. Tons of locals were stopping specifically for the fresas con crema (strawberries with cream. Almost like a yogurt). It was delicious! They also have a cute outdoor picnic area and bathrooms.

Now charging $200mxp ppn to camp, with or without an RV. We originally were told $150mxp ppn but when we went to pay it was more and the new price was posted on a board. There is also no waterfront parking for RVs or Vans, it’s all allocated for day use or tent camping. However we were told we could drive down and park at the back, but there was definitely miscommunication between the staff, because after we drove down the steep hill we were asked to drive back up and park in the carpark. After some protest they let us park in the back between two trees away from the water.

The hill down is at the property and not bad, we managed fine with our 27ft expedition truck, but if u have very low clearance you might not want to drive down.

The road to the campsite is 2.5km dirt road with bumps and potholes, but at least no low hanging branches!

Really excellent well-balanced almuerzos that rotate and of high-quality (which I feel you don’t normally get in these price ranges). $3. Includes an actual portion of salad and not just a big plate of rice. Also rare!

It’s a buck more than the almuerzo closer to Tu Parada but you get a notably superior product for it. Highly recommend! Was eating there until I discovered this place.
