We spent a week at this point and it was very quiet and we felt safe, sometimes we could feel the band of the battalion that is located in this same sector but in general it was very good. We parked next to the Toñito hotel and the Minuteman pizzeria that is in the hotel is delicious, one of the best rated in Uyuni, we recommend it. We wanted to sleep in the train cemetery but there is a lot of dust and flies that enter your mobile home, so we decided to return to this point that has everything nearby to walk to the market, the center and the tourist agencies, the showers, etc. .

Near the shopping center at the gates of a military camp. Safe and quiet at night

Report Check-In

Really nice spot. Near city center (Mercado, shops and excursions departures). Safe as there are military people all day and night long.

Report Check-In

Safe place, and silent at night. In the morning, the bustle of the city begins with a lot of noise from the gendarmeria at the end of the street. But still, a good place to stay in Uyuni.
We left the car here, and went shopping at the Municipal Market, without difficulty.
_______

We slept here 3 nights. Very quiet and safe place. The first night we went to eat to Minuteman, excellent pizza 👌 so we use this wifi all the time.

They have vegan cheese and you can create your own pizza! Wifi available, cash only! I could reach the wifi network from the van. No issues staying the night with the military guards.

Parked in big rig for four nights. Safe, quiet at night, right by military base entrance. Minuteman pizza (and other options) café in Tonito hotel is best food in town.
Check out Nomada Experience for best adventure options on the salt pan.
Think carefully before taking your own vehicle, one fell through on 31st May!

Report Check-In

stayed here for several nights with our van. Feels safe and nobody seems to care.

Report Check-In

We slept two nights here. Although it feels very safe, it is also very noisy during the night, with a lot of trucks circulating.
The hotel did not allow us to take a shower or to refill our water tank. Pizza at Minutemen is good dough. We had no issues with the military, nobody really cared for our parked overlander.

Report Check-In

Quiet place to park for the night if you’re not up for the train cemetery. Temper your excitement for Minuteman Pizza, it’s average and quite expensive by any standards. 110B+ for a large pizza.

Perfekt Place for 3 Big Rigs (Trucks). Military Staff are verry friendly. Just ask them if its ok for Parking. They will show you where.
By the way they are thankfull for a Coca Cola or so. But they dont begging for someting! They have an eye the whole night on our trucks. And it has a lot of street light. For us perfect in the center of the town.

Safe place in front of the military station.

Loud, bright light and very ugly, trashy and touristy town...
Better drive trough and stop somewhere in the nature!

Great guy, delicious pizza and pasta, makes also self-made gluten-free pizza - the best one I've eaten so far!!! GF pasta and bread is also available, but sometimes it's necessary to order it in advance.

Report Check-In

Quiet, safe and free wifi from MinuteMan ([Password removed by moderator.]). Pizza is great.

Report Check-In

Camped one night (okay though can be noisy from disco down the road ...music was on till 5 am and there are better pizzas down the road)...Left our motorhome while we did 3d2n trip of salar and lagunas like colorado/verde/honda/blanca etc...there was big blocades going on the day we came back and our vehicle was safe. Tip for trip: while technically you can do it in a motorhome even without 4x4 in dry season roads are really really rough esp. In lagunas and it will be taxing on any type of car. Our tour Toyota Land Cruiser didnt use 4x4 at all but it did end up breaking exhaust badly. Another point the roads our guide used were no where on map so overall we are happy that we did tour as places we end up going were gorgeous though no most easily assesible. Tip for handling blocades: we were stopped just outside uyuni on way to potosi. We stayed persistent and really had a good discussion with protesters and explained reasons that we need to go rather urgently. They listened and after about an hour after internal talks we were the only vehicle let out. So it worked for us not to stay in town and wait till it all cleared.

Muy seguro y tranquilo. La pizza estuvo rica. Nos bañamos a un par de cuadras. Stayed here with some other overlanders. Very chill spot, very secure. Pizza was pretty good. We ended up showering a couple of blocks down for about 10-15 bolivianos.

- free
- We tried camping along the way to Uyuni from Potosi, but most of the good places were not accessible from the new road and then we were kicked out from a spot by an angry couple of pensioners. So we decided to push it to Uyuni for dinner at Minuteman Pizza, rumored to be the best pizza in South America (or Bolivia at least).
- The pizzas are really good, so is the breakfast buffet.
- Minuteman is located inside Hotel Tonito
- We parked right in front. No facilities, except the bathroom in Minuteman when it is open (ca. 7:30-10am, 17:30-10pm). Somebody said it is possible to take a shower in hotel Tonito for a small fee.
- Very safe area, military camp at the end of the street.
