we didn't see any "no camping"signs anywhere. Decided to stay as there was another Van in the corner, seemed empty though. I Will report here if we will be send away. Spot is next to the road, so some traficnoise. Great view!

We visited this spot, but currently people are loading the gravel on trucks to move somewhere else.. Wouldn't recommend this at the moment... We found a great spot just down the road from here.. Please check out this stop on map...

As described a nice and safe campsite with large trees and bungalows, pool … Friendly and helpful owners, Hardy and Steffi, speak English and German. We stayed there several days with our truck and drove by Uber to CT and surrounding.

Park right by the river with the floating docks that are store on the parking lot for the winter. No overnight or parking restriction signs. Very quite, walking distance from downtown, LTE network.

Small but very welcome hosts. Lots of animals, communal kitchen and braai facilities. Near and clean ablutions for camping. Highly recommend this place.

Not my fav campsite but it’ll do. Right out of town, can still see lights and road from this spot. I’m sure you could drive out further but I didn’t want to risk the road getting bad. Flat and some fire pits in the small lightly forested area. Full cell service.

Stayed over night no problem. Late season I don't think anyone cares. One other van and then a fisherman in the early morning. Washrooms are dry pits but clean. Change rooms used by kite boarders.

overnight parking is allowed. will have a lovely breakfast in the morning.

Update: Turns out the “no roadside camping” signs are a mile or two on either side of the campground. Loads of people camped in the woods Saturday morning.

Very nice campground with boat ramp. Seems to be open year round since there isn’t a gate. One vault toilet. FS Campground, $10 a night, 4 camping slots with 2 vehicles allowed in each per group. Not much highway noise, right next to Clark Fork River. Picnic tables and fire rings at each spot. Pretty close to others. We slept in the back of our truck, but might be tough to squeeze an RV into a spot. 10/10 would stay here again. 5G AT&T cell service.

Beautiful spot, can maneuver to be hidden from roadway behind the big rock. No cell service or rare 3G.

Friendly owners, decent facilities, good internet. We were here on a Friday night camped by the kids pool and it was very noisy in the car park and in the apartment next door, so think about camping in one of the sites further from the beach

Land borders are still very closed with Ecuador. We arrived at the border by bike (started in Medellin and attempted to cross into Ecuador) and were told that we could not cross. Exiting Colombia wouldn’t be possible since Ecuador would not let us in.
We were told to talk to the Consulado de Ecuador in Ipiales, did that and now they told us that only in Bogota you could get either a permit (permiso) or a visa to cross by land here in Rumichaca. The requirements for the permit remain the same as what EJs post (below) describes.

So the options are: taking a dirt road to Tulcan (Ecuador) or (this if you are biking) taking a bus from Ipiales to big city to then fly to Quito.

1. Dirt road (trocha): we were told there are many robberies along these back roads. Especially due to the very heartbreaking wave of migration, more robberies are happening targeting folks transiting by these roads. We were told this by local Colombians, ecuatorians in Tulcan whom we had been in touch, people at the bike shop we went in Ipiales, cyclist friends in Ipiales, and migrants who had recently taken the road in which unfortunately they got robbed.

2. Bus: so we decided to load our bikes on a bus and go to Cali to catch a flight to Quito. There are many companies but we needed a bus with enough storage space for our bikes. We were recommended Transipiales or Boliviariano. We came to the terminal and got tickets (bring cash; there is also Bancolombia ATM inside the station) for the next day. We recommend buying 12hrs in advance.

Boliviano bus charged 50k pp from Ipiales to Cali, 12hrs. We caught the 8am bus.

Bikes have an extra charge of 30k; you could negotiate this. We did not.

Hopefully the border situation would improve by next year or December of 2021. Keep us posted!

We drove through after overnight at the Lookout. Looks like road is plowed so good off-season spot. Nice views. 10k hiking trail from here.

Really here, really free. But I do not see a safari.

we slept there and we had no problem! we stayed until 10am even and nobody said anything!

Can't believe there is no one else here. This place is magical! Worth stopping at regardless where you are heading. Just big enough to fit our 29' trailer comfortably. $440 a night. Is it worth it - you bet water, electric, sewage disposal, hot, clean showers and iffy wifi. We slept like babies amongst the trees. Will definitely stop here again in April on our way home.

No overnight parking signs are posted. But we stayed here anyways for one night.

This place is in the wrong location, but I'm not sure where it is!

No tracks. this is a fragile national park where ot is prohibited to wildcamp.

Surprisingly pleasant campsite with power, braai, water in each camping spot and shade lapa in some of the spots. Hot shower and clean toilets. MTC mobile internet in the area. Great swimming pool at the lodge. Nice easy 4km walking trail leads you to some large weaver nests and gives you beautiful view of surrounding mountains. Owner not very friendly, passed through us at the pool just to ask if we were at the campsite without even saying hello and turning his back on us after we answered him.
