Latest Check-Ins

Didn’t make it to the exact gps coordinates in our Subaru Outback, parked near the trail sign. Not entirely flat but good enough. No signs discouraging overnight parking. Somebody was already parked at the original coordinates. Some young people driving the ATV road at night yelled to us, couldn’t tell what. From this spot you can see lights from the airport. I slept with earplugs, no notably loud noises overnight. Took our time getting out on a Sunday morning, nobody was bothered. We also left our locked cooler outside, no issues.

Report Check-In

Spent one night here with no issues. Quiet at night, some road noise early in the morning. The road is very rutted, going further up the hill will require 4x4. Good cell service.

Report Check-In

I've uploaded a photo annotated with the trails. Turn off airport road (blue) onto the middle road (yellow) and follow it about 250 yds. this was the first (pretty) level spot I found. If your adventurous keep going up the hill (red) out to the overlook described by OP. Don't take either the far right or the far left, both are steep and uneven, unless your in some kind of OHV in which case rock on! All in all a pretty nice spot, some local traffic, but you don't hear I70 much and the cell service is excellent. There is a nice trail going up on the ridgeline if your feeling a hike.

a few miles east of walmart (walmart had no overnight parking signs). dirt road not too bad, we used 4x4 towing a 20 ft trailer. tool ut show and found a fairly flat spot.

Report Check-In

This is a BLM OHV site, so the " roads " are not maintained. A recent rain (water still standing) washed out the area that the OP seemed to indicate was his site. But, as he indicates, further up the OHV area there are various flat spots that should be just fine.

Report Check-In

Great camping spot on BLM land just outside of Rifle. Some of the trails were washed out and could possibly require 4wd after a good rainfall. Other than that, it was secluded and quiet.

Report Check-In

Decent enough location. Roads are very rutted and would be a nightmare if muddy. Pretty confident off roading in my promaster but the middle road up the little hill was fairly sketch and that was the best one. Sites not super established. Some i70 noise, small airport noise (cool to watch the planes take off). Very nice vista and sunset.

Report Check-In

There are two rough roads side by side. They are both pretty rough but doable unless you have very low clearance. Not the best vibe but not super sketchy either. A bit of trash around. Fine for a Friday night when nothing else is available and you just want to sleep for the night. Some road noise and lots of coyotes yipping.

Report Check-In

Quiet campsite on BLM land with a gate for off-road vehicles. There is an icy dirt road going uphill for 200 ft. Camped right before the closed gate where the road got a little wider

Report Check-In

Not my fav campsite but it’ll do. Right out of town, can still see lights and road from this spot. I’m sure you could drive out further but I didn’t want to risk the road getting bad. Flat and some fire pits in the small lightly forested area. Full cell service.

stayed here last night. just outside town. nice n quiet. good wifi. track little rutted. no problem for 4runners. RV folks may not like them. nobody else here. No noise.
as an alt Walmart in town, west of this site allows parking too. saw some RV's camped there.

Report Check-In

This is a good spot to stay. We have a 36ft trailer and pull with an F250, we were able to find one spot to accommodate our trailer and it was perfect and pretty level. We found a trail to hike which took us up to the top of the ridge (for intermediate hikers only). There was a cell tower at the top and got great cell service (Verizon and At&t with a booster) I was able to do zoom meetings with only a few drops.
There is some garbage around but it is left over shell casings, people will come up here to shoot and ride motorcycles. We stayed a week and saw one person. It was very quiet in the evening, some wind but nice in the day and no mosquitoes! Here is a suggestion, if you have a big rig it needs to have some good clearance, the roads have eroaded away over the years. check the weather, it could easily turn into a nightmare if it gets too muddy. Park at the bottom and take a walk up, its not far; see if your rig can make it. Also, when you get to blm land (gravel road turns into dirt road), there will be three dirt roads. One is nice and graveled but if you go up a bit, it is gated so take the middle dirt road to get where we were. You are also not far from town, like 10 minutes. We will stay here again.

Report Check-In

Nice spot but the short dirt road to get there is pretty bad. High clearance and 4x4 recommended.
