laundromat with cafeteria, you do it yourself. It's great, the washing machines and dryers are super big, they fit a lot of clothes. It takes 1 hour (30 minutes for each machine) if you bring the soap it costs 3,000 if not the soap costs 500. The truth is a very good option. It is on the main route so you can park perfectly at the door

A popular local tourist attraction that features a couple of “lechero” trees (named for its milky sap) purported to be the result of a forbidden romance between a princess and a commoner. Their tears filled the nearby Lago San Pablo, according to legend. Touching the lechero trees is supposed to be restorative, but that is probably due to the fact that it places you between the volcanoes Imbabura and Cotacachi with a panoramic view of the lake and the Otavalo Valley. We walked here as part of a self-guided walking tour from Hostal Curińan that also took in Parque del Condor raptor rescue centre and Peguche Waterfall. Google maps states the circuit takes about 2 1/2 hours on foot. The route is also possible by car.
It’s a peaceful and beautiful place.

Wonderful spot at an dynamic noisy river. Lovely English couple invited us to their place. Wide pitches, very rustique.

Cyclists only. Peaceful old road up above the valley with beautiful views.

At this marker on the road (on the side heading towards salta) you’ll see a pile of old bushes blocking an old dirt road - to the left there is a small cow trail to push the bike around. If coming from cafayate, you’ll be able to see the ledge while cycling.

I followed the old road back around to the river side away from the road maybe a couple hundred meters. Peaceful, away from the cars, up a bit overlooking the valley. Saw no cows, not much cow poop. Plenty of room for multiple tents. One or two spots where you had to push the bike a bit more forcefully on your way there but it wasn’t bad at all.

Good, convenient stop. But, FYI it's no longer a "suggested donation". Several signs posted stating you must pay the $5 fee and it's monitored, otherwise they're going to shut down the dump station.

Since 1st May 2024, visa prices have changed. VOA (emergency visa) is 200 dollars and 48h transit visa is 65 or 70 dollars (can't remember exactly). Official websites haven't updated yet but we spent enough time calling officials to verify the change.

TIP still at 50 cedi (motorbike)

Otherwise everyone on both sides are nice and welcoming. Paperwork and a slow connection made the whole process last a bit more than 3h for three people

Tap for washing bikes that you can hook a hose to. Asked inside and they said it was fine but I would ask each time to be sure, as it’s owned by the business. Can back up pretty close to it if it’s not busy. Cool bike shop too!

Had a day wait for the barge, so I spent half a day chilling out here, enjoying the view, making food, and chilling with some local dogs. Only had one person walk by in the 7 hours spent here.

By now, the place us called LA ZONA FLYING SCHOOL and is under different management. Christian (owner & instructor for trike and motorglider) and Ely (the soul of the place) are very friendly and helpful. The buildings (kiosk, toilets, hangar) are newly build. Come before 18.30, otherwise the place is closed down. Call Christian if you are late. 200p/person/night.

Awesome campsite!!! My wife and I turned up on our motorcycles and had only planned on staying one night... but ended up staying four!

The campsite is excellent, super clean bathrooms and showers, fast WiFi, great outdoor kitchen and seating area. Plenty of places to pitch our tent on soft sand. And you're right on the beach! which is stunning, very clean and the water warm.

Franz and his wife (the owners) are lovely people and super friendly, making us feel very welcome.

There was a great little community of overlanders staying there and we had a blast.

I'd recommend bringing supplies if you want to cook your own food, there's plenty of restaurants but no small taco stands, all beach front types. There's a couple of small tiendas but with limited supplies.

Overall, fantastic place and very highly recommended!
