There are several flat space to put the tent. We slept well here. At 6:00 in the morning there was ice on the tent. The sun is empty arrived to warm us up. Little passage. NB, we are traveling by bike, so it was easy for us to get out of the way to put the tent. I think it's also easy to get to by motorcycle. For people driving, there is room to park at the side of the road. Nice landscape with a view of the mountain

We were controlled by the police at the beginning of the night. The fact we asked first at the guardian of the site if we could camp there was a sufficient argument to leave us alone. During the night quite a lot of "traffic" and some barking dogs but quite crazy to camp close to an archeological site

We stayed here 2 nights. easy to walk in to town from here, beautiful view of the mountains. The YPF is in walking distance for wifi and toilets. Lots of friendly dogs and some other campers parked up.

Nice place, clean bathrooms - some highway noise, but heard no barking. $20 for every site - no discounts/no hookups. Run by the Navajos - felt very safe. Please DO NOT boondock camp anywhere on Navajo land!

Sign up for a Navajo 4x4 tour of the canyon. We had a blast! Tseyi Jeep Tour. We had an expert guide & driver. https://tseyijeeptours.com

We had a pleasant stay from 30 April till 5 May. The place was quite full with long-time campers/pensioners. Unfortunately loud partying folks kept us awake till the early hours of Sunday morning. Clean ablutions and mostly grassed sites.

Rota 45 is in a horrible state. Lots of loose gravel and washboard. And it’s not worth the views either. Apart from saving a few kilometres instead of going around Chile Chico, there’s no good reason to go this way.

Magnificent spot with a breathtaking view of the entire canyon and the various glaciers. The 6km of track are worth it but can be difficult (between 20 and 30min, take the margin if you want to arrive before sunset).
We did it with our sprinter type van, 2-wheel drive, without a hitch but the road is narrow. There are many locals until sunset and then we were alone for the night. We took out the tent, there are flat grass fields to settle down.

Only problem: 2/3 cars and motorbikes are mounted in the middle of the night (on a public holiday) without coming to disturb us, but we don't have much to catch the eye at night.

Probably one of the best campsites we have been to in 8 months of travelling. It is small and quiet. We were completely alone for two days. Lots of birds live here. The deer say hello late in the evening and a rabbit visited us every day. Because of a thunderstorm, Mike gave us shelter in his underground cellar. We were looked after incredibly well. We would come back anytime. A wonderful place to unwind.

Really nice spot, especially for a free campground. Created recently so everything is clean and tidy and in good condition, including the pit toilets. Some sites right by the waters edge. Don't take the turning that Google Maps suggests, which takes you down a track which is gated shut and has no place to turn around. Take the turning 1km further east towards Campbell River, which has a signpost for the campground.

I camped at this spot late April in a Subaru Forester and a tent. Made it to the farther spot just fine, though it was a bit harder to get out in the morning (snow). Plenty of room. Far enough from the road for a bit of privacy, but still had road noise. Seemed to be a trailhead, but I saw no traffic during my stay.

This wonderful campsite is located 4km off the highway via a gravel forest service road. The first 2 km is very well maintained b/c it services private properties and farms whilst the next 2 km has bone jarring deep potholes. We made it fine in our 2WD van but took it very slow. The campsite, at least at this time of year, is fantastic - right beside the Goat River - with many available sites for rigs of all sizes and fire rings. There are no facilities at this location. The available camping area follows the river for about a kilometre - I’m sure the area is heavily used in the summer. There was only one other camper in a Class A motorhome so we had a couple of very peaceful nights. In the afternoon we walked on the many dirt trails 4X4’s have created over the years. This is a great boondocking spot and we even had 2 bars of cell service.

We were given a very friendly welcome, even though we arrived a little later. There isn't much space - when we visited there were 4 small to medium-sized campers here and it was very crowded - we had to play Tetris. But that was more than made up for by the very friendly hosts and the clean toilet/shower and kitchen!
40k for 2 people/night.

For Americans; just pay with a card. They refused 5 of the 8 20$ bills I had for the visa because they weren’t up to their standard. They basically want unused bills which is impossible so it’s much easier to just pay by card.

As described. Quite a few cars but we had no problem with our 16' trailer. Some noise from overhead traffic but that settled and we had a night. Felt safe and we enjoyed a pleasant evening walking to the village (about 15').

Border crossing from Mexico to Guatemala with a mexican plated motorbike:

I bought my motorbike in Mexico and registered it on my tourist Visa in the state Guererro. I arrived at 08:30AM at the border "Talisman". The whole procedure took me in total 2 hours.

Step 1: Check-out at immigration in Mexico. I parked my motorbike on the bridge next to the immigration office. Ignore the fixers that wanna help you cross the border. A police officer told me its safe to park here. I left my backpack on my motorbike rack. Anybody could just open the straps and take it. But it felt safe to leave it there. At immigration I directly was served and got my exit stamp in my passport.

Step 2: I passed the bridge to Guatemala with my motorbike. No one wanted money from me. On the Guatemala side I was directly surrounded by money changers. You have to bargain to get a better exchange rate. After exchanging money I went to the immigration office in Guatemala. I parked my motorbike directly in front of it. I was directly served and got my stamp. I asked for the form to take my motorbike to Guatemala (SAT). I dont know exactly how it is called. But if you tell the immigration that you wanna enter Guatemala by vehicle they will give it to you.

Step 3: I made a copy of my passport stamp and the filled form. There is one copyshop next to the SAT building on the left side.

Step 4: I parked in front to the SAT office and told them I wanna enter Guatemala with my motorbike. I gave them following documents:

- Passport
- Driver license
- Factura of my mexican plated motorbike (similar to the title in other countries)
- Registration of motorbike

copys:

- 1 x Passport stamps and form
- 2 x Drivers license
- 2 x Passport
- 1 x Factura of motorbike
- 1 x Registration of motorbike

Afterwards the lady of SAT was checking my motorbike and wrote down the serial number.

Step 5: I got a bill of 160GTQ that I had to pay at a bank nearby. You have to walk a bit up the hill on the Guatemala side. I payed the bill in cash. Im not sure if its possible to pay by credit card. The lady in the bank put another 10GTQ on top and called it "comisión". Afterwards I got the receipt. The lady of SAT told me to make two copys of the receipt. But I did not do that, because they have a copy machine. Its really annoying to make all the times copys. So I hoped she will do them.

Step 6: I went back with the receipt to the SAT office. She asked for the receipt and the copys. I told her I dont have copys. Then she made them by herself. I got the paperwork for my temporary import permit and was free to enter Guatemala. In total it took me 2 hours. It was my first border crossing on land with a motorbike in central america.

That's the only real bicycle mechanic in Maputo but unfortunately, it's not the best!
When we arrived, the owner was not there. Paiasse promised us to do a full service on our bicycles, such as changing the chain and brake pads. At first, he told us that the bicycles are ready in half a day time. Finally, it took them 1.5 day. When we arrived the next afternoon, the only thing they did was cleaning it and changing the chain. The shifting system was not working well and the brake pads were still the used ones (even though they said that they changed it)!
At this point, the owner from Betinho Bike was there and admitted the mistake. He took over and put for the next 3 hours our two bicycles in order.
Be careful about this place. I recommend you to stay and observe what they are doing.
There are good spare parts and when you text them ahead what you need, they might organize it. +258 84 527 13 58

Good place near the border. 4G ok. It sounds a bit of the road. A 4x4 isn't necessary, but a bit of height is.

You can't miss it, it's right by the road. There's a dump station, rince water tap and a little further a water tap which I didn't test. There's washrooms but they were locked. (maybe there opened during summer🤷‍♀️)

no gates, so should always be open.

Free station 😊

Parking overnight across the Visitor Center of Buffalo Bayou Park on Sabine St. Very quiet at night, few cars, people still walking and biking at 11:00 pm. There are 2 "no parking" signs, for a short portion of the street. Otherwise no other restrictive parking signs. Able to bike around the park in the morning around 8:00 am. paulcasd

We parked near the Pemex. It was very quiet, some locals stopped during the week end to ask if we need something. Pemex staff allowed us to fill some gallons (they have a pipe with good water pressure). We went to the beach, a lot of garbage and waves are very strong but funny for surfing. Marketplaces are available behind the parking (aurora bodega, Soriano, Walmart, etc.) and laundry.

The Alamut castle was the headquarter of the Assasins during the 12th century. The caste was built on top of a rock formation. It seems that the castle is under never ending construction and there’s not much to see. However, the environment is spectacular and it’s pretty amazing that they built a castle up here. Its is steep hike from the parking lot. Entrance fee is 2,5 million rial per person.
