A simple farm campsite with toilets, showers and drinking water. No hook ups. Close to the beach and nature reserve. A nice spot.

We came here at 2:30pm to stop and camp for the night it was very busy with birthday parties in the park but also had plenty of homeless people hanging around. Not much of a place to stay in a camper it’s more of a small public park for the community. I did not feel safe staying there so we left and went down to seven feathers rest stop and stayed.

Great electrical service!
Jose Luis was very clever, he was the first of 6 diferent persons that solve the problem of my electric fan of our combi.
If you get stuck in puebla message him 2216071834 before calling or just arrive his place.
9 to 7 from Sunday to friday.

Nothing fancy, just a gravel lot by a lake. The lake is pretty. Lots of people paddle-boarding and kayaking. Lot has some trash and stuff. There is no public trash bin. Be careful if you have a dog. Ours found a used tampon…

Slept here a couple nights with no issues. 2 other overnight vehicles. Several people in and out for night and morning fishing.

Just a gravel lot, but clean and reasonably quiet for a decent sleep. Had space even on July weekend. Self registration with cash or credit.

SLEEP WITH CAUTION
Great place to pull off during the day. A park ranger knocked on the window about 8:30am warning the area is an emergency pull off and cars aren’t allowed to be parked there longer than 12 hours during an emergency. Overnight camping/parking isn’t permitted otherwise. However this was one of very few spots along the 101 highway without signs stating that no camping or overnight parking allowed.

Really clean unlimited showers at the Fitness facility. Still $2.25. Was there on a Saturday, closing at 6pm.

20 spots or so. This Saturday night it was almost full. Still very quiet at night. Most of the sites are semi private. Not a lot of mosquitos at this time.

pullout on the side of the road, just outside the park. forest roads were slammed with people for the weekend, so just parked here the night before Rainier. no no signs.

Nice spot with sites right on the river. Lots of people with ATVs and dirt bikes.
Unfortunately it was spoiled by crazy amount of mosquitoes!

Cyclist heading north. Wanted to stop before heading west in to Salta city. All the possible places behind the petrol station looked dirty and full of trash, and shit. Walked north a little and found a spot behind the workshop shed. On a patch of concrete, so may need a freestanding tent (can’t put pegs down). Watch out for the dogs. Close to the road, but secluded and I wasn’t disturbed. Not many options. Good phone signal with Personal. Can use showers in Comedor Restaurant 100m south (AR$200). Use toilets in YPF station. Sufficient for one night.

Site is approximately .6 miles off main road. Road to site is graded. Very little noise from main road.

In the same turnout there are sites 18a and 18b, which although don't have the view, are a few steps away from the view and have SHADE. On hot summer days if you're going to be at camp anywhere between 11-6pm you are going to be glad you took some shade. Most of the other dispersed campsites are in direct sun. Oh yeah and there are big persistent mosquitoes here.

Nice viewpoint, lots of camper vans staying here. There’s train tracks at the bottom and a few trains went through, and people revving their cars around the bends at night. But if a little noise doesn’t bug you, it’s a great spot! Cheers

No chance to get in any of the super expensive campgrounds so we stayed here. A little train and road noise at night but not bad. From 6:30 on some cars passed by.
Had no problems.

Tried to get a spot, as it said First come first serve on the park map. It turned out you need a reservation. We didn't get a spot in the whole area even though we checked every campspot in the afternoon and evening. I tried to make a reservation online as there was one spot available at one point, but the system said it's too late and also charged me for firewood I wouldn't need. Would've been 50$! Check out time is 11am, maybe you have best chances to get in without a reservation around this time or at 7:30pm-8pm, because then they get their cancellations.

Beautiful park with pit toilet. There are other bathrooms with running water but they were locked. Lots of people around stopping to chat. Police patrolling the park, so very safe. Only downfall was the multitude of trains that passed in the night.

Parking lot. Not much more to add to precedent reviews. We parked outside the gate at the second parking lot. We have a small minivan and there was a big RV beside us (more then 24’). I didn’t feel confortable in the 3rd because 1) the gate (was kept open all night) 2) young locals coming in and out 3) although great part a the beach, was far from the beach, 4) since it’s deeper in the marsh, more mosquitos. From the 2nd one, we could have our coffee easily at the beach. Dog walkers and joggers arrive early. We could hear the road traffic but there was no traffic, so no problem from that.

Wild campsite off of FS 500 in Big Red Lake Park. Just at the edge of the timber overlooking the park, the site has a rock fire ring with evidence of a fire some time ago. It’s a fairly level spot big enough for a couple of rigs. No amenities at all. Pack it in, pack it out.

Came through here two weeks ago and had to park in overflow. On this visit we voluntarily used overflow because of mosquitoes. Hot springs absolutely beautiful setting and were not overcrowded on either visit. Definitely worth the $5 for admission. Campground is still $26 on premise as well as in overflow. Water needs to be boiled as per local staff.

Cyclists or anyone not in a vehicle: not a good place to pitch a tent. If heading east from La Fortuna, this road is a huge climb and has a steep descent at this point. So cars traveling east can slip on the road and potentially hit you and cars traveling west, up the steep road may lose traction. The road is paved but that doesn’t matter in the rainy season. We opted to go to Rio Chiquito, just ~2km east from this point. We camped in the soccer field (no amenities) and without problem. For cars, the road the church is on butts up to the river (dead ends) and would be a nice place to park.

Really popular spot (probably increased with weekend), but super understandable given that this area is beautiful, unique, free, and quite large. There was still room for everyone to spread out and have an enjoyable time. Hit this spot for sure!
