What a find! We were the only ones here for a night in April. Beautiful campground nestled in huge trees. Snowed 6-inches but we were warm and comfortable in our Sprinter van. On the PCT so most likely busy in the summer with thru-hikers. Picnic tables, fire pits, pit toilets. Flat. Free. No Verizon. Magical.

Nice open and flat clearing in the forest. Very quiet and large. However, road up is steep with deep ruts. Need high clearance vehicle to get here. Road probably not suitable for large rigs

We entered the fuel station, asked for the smile price of 6 Bob/litre. No problem. But they asked to tell nobody 😉.

Very peaceful dry camping. Far enough from the interstate that you can’t hear it. Google maps tried to take me a strange way through farmland, but it really is less than 10 minutes off of I-8

- Traveling RSA to eS
- open 07:00 - 22:00
- RSA out 5min, customs asked if we had properly stamped CPD (yes) but did not want to see
- eS in 30min (busy probably because it was Easter), everything is typed in manually
- Road Toll (Foreign): R100 (no cash, card only), seems to be irrespective of vehicle size/weight
- no vehicle inspection

There is a GALP petrol station right after the border, where both Diesel (50ppm) and petrol are ca. R2.50 cheaper than in RSA

Still open. We did not stay here because there are enough free places to park in Calingasta if you are selfsufficient. We parked next to the large statue of Christ for 2 night. Very nice view and sunsets.

Great spot, close to the Christopher creek road loop and yet not too loud. I drove my sprinter RWD up, road seems to be fine and just take your time if in a lower clearance vehicle. Verizon decent. About 20mbs down. Able to find flat spots and the forest is really nice. Great sunset.

Nice small hostel with 4 rooms of 2 beds and shared bathrooms.

$8 shower with unlimited hot water, great water pressure, private stalls with lock, bench and hooks. Pay at the Campground Checkin. The attendant then walked us to the shower and he entered the code. Men and women are in separate areas across the hall. Also have laundry, potable water, dump station, ATM, etc.

Awesome large secluded spot far enough away from the road and dust. Two fire pits. Perfect for our sprinter

Camping and fishing spot. It has restrooms (poor conditions), cafeteria, place to camp. Regular.

As described, lot's of parking spot along the lake! Perfect spot!
The street speed limit is 30k/h so pretty good and gets quiet early evening till morning!

very nice people asked to stay the night in rv and she said no problem wherever we could find a spot but stayed closer to Dennys(out of truckers way) put slide outs out for the night and felt safe

dump station closed mid April still. they did just get a bunch of snow. but also no water tap and no propane

busier intersection and buried in snow April 15th. could not use. cute area though nice drive

The place is located in a backstreet. I was in a group with three bikes and we parked outside without any problem. Is a nice place with hot water, Kitchen, WiFi and rooftop.
They charged us 35 Bol pp/night.

Have been through multiple times while driving. Probably the easiest international border I've been through. With regards to the FMM, and walking. Just go in the left lane. Pull off to the side and park. You can walk back and the officer there will quickly help you. He'll stamp your passport, and make fun of your spanish.

Nice little boat launch. Signage imply it is owned and/or maintained by Long Lake Land Owners Association. No mention of camping rules. Beautiful lake, only flat area is right down at the waters edge, and very small.

Coast me 10,50$ for the whole thing, hot tube, sauna, pool, gym. Everything is really clean

Nice beach with a decent restaurant. Bathrooms are at the hotel, which has limited hours. Popular with the locals.

Enjoyed two nights here. Felt very safe and had some privacy despite the many campers. Didn’t have trouble finding a spot on either a Thursday or Friday evening. Very convenient and great Verizon LTE service.

Reasonably priced food, friendly service. There are some nice pieces of artwork, though the pricing feels a little touristy (high) Was able to log onto wifi, but then showed no internet connection.

Was honestly turned off by all these reviews about the smell but we gave it a shot anyways. I’m so glad we did because we did not experience any sewage smell! Maybe it was just the desert goddesses doing us a solid because we also were gifted this beautiful sunset. Just here to say go for it!

Really beautiful sunset over the lake and not windy if you park on the upper lane but no sun in the morning and you can hear the cars from the street.

The tourist information is now right at the lake. Very nice people. Told us it's fine if we stay at the lake in our camper (the informal campground spot). Clean public bathrooms. They have useful maps and tips.
