We went from Tanzania to Burundi

In Tanzania we got an exit stamp and had to return the TIP and get the Carnet stamped out.

In Burundi first stop is the health check. The ladies check your temperature and they exchange money. We changed Tanzania Shillings to Burundi Francs for 1:1,9
Afterwards there’s some immigration checkpoint where they don’t stamp your passport and you have to answer some questions. Then in the next building there’s immigration and customs. All the way on the left is where you get your entry stamp, we already got our visas in Kigoma. On the right there are two customs doors. The left is where you pay 15$ for the TIP. He didn’t have 5$ change so I gave him 5€ and got 10$ back. You should probably bring the 15$ exactly. In the room next to it is where you get the actual TIP and then you’re done. Just a short check at the exit.

For clarification, to get to the river you have to walk down a trail and climb down some rocks, it’s worth the short walk but you’re not going to hang out by the river since it has steep banks and very thick brush. Also watch for poison oak, it’s awkwardly right where you need to climb down to the river. Super cool spot otherwise!

I thought after going up the road I’d definitely be the only one out there since it’s like going up a steam bed. And then an hour later a truck shows up and camps 20ft up the road and lets there dog run around unsupervised. I gave it treats and belly rubs so it loves me more than the owners now, so let that be a warning to dog owners!

Flat parking lot right next to the lake with no signs saying no parking. A few pit toilets around, enough signal to get notifications but not enough to do anything about them. Weren’t the only people staying but was pretty quiet!

Good place to stay, there are lots of trails to explore and the couple of beaches are beautiful. Hot showers, flushable toilets. $47 for a night. If you don't have the Discovery Pass, then you pay a per day fee for using the park

Great spot as described. Signs encourage overnight use and such. I went on a Tuesday night. One other camping group from a nearby town set up the following morning. Plenty of deadwood and windfall nearby to get a fire going. Extremely quiet.

This is an awesome camp spot tucked off the road. Close to all the hiking trailheads as well as the cliff dwellings. Any size vehicle/ trailer can get in here. So many great birds for viewing.

This is an EPIC spot, it’s 3 campsites in 1. Rough rough gravel road will bring you back to Old House Gap, but when your about halfway there, turn left and you’ll immediately be in the first campsite. A capable 4x4 vehicle with high clearance is needed to follow the path back to the 2 other campsites. Large rocks sticking out of the ground, and roots jumping out, make it a very slow bumpy ride, but even I ( a total newbie) in my Nissan Xterra, was able to cruise back there into what was my home for the next 24 hours. I got there at 10 ish in the morning, and camped thru the night. There’s a crystal clear creek just a short walk away. Very little traffic from the unpaved road above. And besides the sound of rushing water…. Complete silence.

I saw no signage at all to designate it as an official campsite, nothin but some recently used fire rings. Great spot.

Quite ok for one night. Some trash around but have seen worse. Depending on where the wind comes from you can get some shelter.

Exactly as described, beautiful place!
If it rains/rained, be careful on the grass and trails as it's very muddy (clay).

Gate for smaller vehicles was locked. Pulled up the RV right beside the gate and put the slides out. Stayed the night and no one bothered us. It was very busy with truckers all night long. Trains across the road were also busy, counted 9 in the time we were there for the night. Lake view was very peaceful and pretty.

spent a night there no problems. As posted from their Facebook:

Hi everyone, We decided as fellow Baja travelers & experts ourselves, We’d like to invite any travelers needing a place to stay for the night before heading into Baja through the Calexico Mexicali border, We are right across from Calexico’s Walmart and have plenty of space for RVs and other overlanding vehicles in front of our business. We also have fresh drinking water available for hookup with a quick connect system for your RV needs. We’re happy to share our space & knowledge with anyone making the journey into Baja, Mexico. 😎 Safe travels!

Nice place, but during the day all the tourist buses stop here for a break, and of course they are all very interested in you. So we drove on. Good internet reception with TCell (also during the day).

There is a fenced parking space & a building here. We arrived at the closed gate and a man came out of the building. He unlocked the gate for us and we were allowed to park on the property while we made the short hike to the lake. We drove straight on afterwards and didn't have to pay anything. You could also camp here for a small fee.

This is the real location. Cheap and clean rooms with own bathroom for 5000 CFA. Electricity all day long. He first told me all the rooms for 5000 are full, but then “found” another one.
No wifi but 4/4 bars if LTE connection with Orange.
