Enjoyed the thali (selection of curries with rice, roti, desert and pickled veg). We are from the U.K. and dishes are different than what we are used to. Chicken tikka is very tomatoey for example. Nonetheless it was delicious and if you are vegetarian you’ll be spoilt for choice. Setting isn’t very nice. It’s cold as the doors are all open with live TV showing inside so better for a quick bite. We ate here twice and would recommend!

Stopped here for Fish & Chips and fish soup. It wasn’t the best but very good and excellent value for money. Only thing was the way the waiters ask for a tip … couldn’t have been any
More forceful and put us off coming back!

Ok for overlanders in a car but they don’t really carry lightweight stuff for bikers or cyclists so wasn’t really suitable for us. Their hammock for example was heavier than our tent 😬

This location is a downtown retail district- with a pedestrian mall. We could not find the shop.

On weekdays it is a super quiet place to sleep or spend the day. It has a water point and a snack bar. If the cafeteria is open, talk to the owners to inform them that you will be staying overnight, as they live locally and a strange vehicle can be scary. The view is beautiful, especially at sunrise and sunset.

Here you can register yourself (OVIR) and get a GBAO permit.

Registration is mandatory if you stay longer then 10 working days in the country and travel visa free. First we went to a hotel (Green House Hostel) and pay $5 pp to use facilities and sleep in the van. They gave us a paper with their adress and a stamp that we took to the OVIR office.

At the office take the door on the right side (outside) and give the hotel paper and passports to the lady, ask for registration and GBAO permit. She’ll make the forms and you give those with your passport to the next office on the right side. Maybe they finish it straight away, or they’ll ask you to come back the next day.

We had to pay 220 somoni pp for registration and 50 somoni pp for the GBAO permit. Both are valid for a month after entering the country.

In the end you’ll have two little papers in your passport. One purple for registration and one yellow for GBAO.

You can take the purple paper to a simcard store to extend your simcard, otherwise it’ll stop working after 10 days.

Great find! We also pay 136 som for our Mercedes T1 van. Insurance is actually valid for one year. It covers up to 17.000 som damage to the car of the other person and up to 33.000 som in medical bills.

good option for cartagena. 56k COP for an AC room with shared bathroom and kitchen.
Secure parking included which can fit up to a medium sized van ( sprinter size). Bigger rigs would be harder as the neighbours also park their cars here. They dont have a " camping" options which is ok because the rooms are fair price.

These is a car wash and oil change shop were you can use the Banos for 5Q. Nice and clean. they ate close to the Turisto police Park too.

Big Landrover garage, lots of spare parts. The owner, Papa Diop, drives 4x4 (and motor) in West Africa as well and is very happy to meet other overlanders. You better call before, they are very busy. +221 772830070.

They have a department in Saly as well and they sometimes even do car rescue on location.

Endroit spectaculaire, le cimetière d’un côté et la plaine où stationner de l’autre. Port de pêche de l’autre côté du cimetière. Attention avec les chiens, falaise mortelle pour eux.

We came here at 5pm and open the pop top as I got dark but it didn’t take an hour until someone called the police on us and we got send away….
Looks like locals don’t approve overnight parking.

Water spigot in the park - right in front of the church. We asked locals and they said it was potable.

Very good campsite . Excellent pool and very clean site.

Free, with electric hook ups, camping in the parking lot. I would love to recommend this place, but it is on a busy road and the parking spots for RVs are right along the road. I ended up moving to the back of the parking lot and had a quiet night with lighter road noise. Check in with security and let them know you’re here.

Nice place, near the lake. Lot of spots for any rig size. Decent AT&T signal. 1 hour from Salt Lake City. Very quiet at night.

Awesome little spot. It’s on private property but there are several little individual spots for small campers. Nice view and a peaceful quiet night. About as good as you can get for a “wild” camp around these parts. Of course no services.

It’s a parking lot. Lots to do and see in the area.
