Parked here for 2 nights, no problems. There is at least one security guard on duty at all times who will make sure your car is safe, so be friendly and make some conversation with them. FYI - there is a trash can on the street about halfway down. Walking distance to 2 malls and the art museum

Tried to camp here but we were woken up by the construction guys at 12:00 AM. So went to the other camp spot further up the road

We were very concerned about this border crossing.
We travel with a Chilenean car as extrajeros and the previous comments don’t give us much hope.

We arrived and there was already a long queue with 5 buses, 10 trucks and a lot of cars. It’s not a good idea to cross the border when there is a international football game, we thought.

Buut. Everything was quite chill.
Although there were many people, it took us 1 hour for the whole border crossing. That was really fast. The staff is very efficient and very friendly.
The only „thing“ that slowed down the process, have been the unorganized people that do not know which documents they have to show on which station.

Immigration of Argentina and Chile were very fast. And also the Aduana (2 and 4) don’t take long. They didn’t say anything about us driving a Chile car. No problem at all. We got our documents stamped, they kept our export permission (the Chile document that you get when you leave Chile with a Chile car), that’s it.

SAG also looked keen but not so much in our vehicle. We had some already cut apples but we had to leave them. Cheese was ok.

Don’t worry about this border. They are strict but very friendly. Come prepared than you are fine, also as a foreigner with Chile car.

Asked about prices for ICA exportation papers before crossing into Ecuador. 220k for the paperwork and 70k for the consultation. 290k total.

We opted to skip it and cross at Ipiales, where most people cross with their pets and both countries don’t seem to care about import/export paperwork. Fingers crossed.

Everyone on all the ioverlander spots near here keeps talking about how bad the road is from La Union. If you’re willing to pay a little extra ($20 total for entrance and camping), you can just come up from Highway 2. That road you definitely don’t need 4x4, and probably not even high clearance in most spots. It’s still very steep but the road is really well taken care of. It takes you to the Mirador del Pacifico (marked on ioverlander) property where you can camp and check out several different overlooks with views in all directions. The few extra dollars was worth it to me for a smooth ride up.

Restaurant is only open during limited days off season and is closed today (Thursday 4/25) met the owner ? who we paid to use the showers 50 pesos each. the propane is in the stall so you can turn it on.

Street near the Lake Ridge Marina. Quiet, no overnight parking signs. Good for sleep and go.

Noticeable Roadside pull off on this dirt road was great. Just a bit further up on the left if you’re driving from Chiricahua. The washboard is not that bad in our transit connect. Watched a great sunset. Super quiet sleep. Perfect stage for hiking at the park the next day. No need for stealth. We set up our table and chairs and cooked dinner. Slept in the van.

We can confirm all previous statements. The new price is now 40,000 for 2 people.

Decent budget hostel. I paid CLP$23,000 for a room and a bathroom.

Wifi is extremely slow and does not reach my room.

No towels are provided (apparently can be rented).

Big kitchen and a comfortable area to hang out with other travelers.

Room for three mid-sized motorcycles inside. I had to park outside because there were already three other riders here when I arrived.

Great water spigot at pump number 6. Tons of pressure.

There is a 2nd spigot (and free air) on the side of the car wash building.

great place to stay, $5 pp, if you want electricity you have to pay $5 more. Nice clean pool, toilets, shower and wifi.

stayed 3 nights here, the beach is not very good, too strong, only for surfers.

this is the parking lot where you start the hike to the volcano, nice walk, about 25min climbing, easy, but very hot, beautiful volcano!! you can see 3 countries from up there (nicaragua, Honduras and el salvador)

We staid here this night. no issues. good place before going in the Center of Vegas to visit It. no Big rigs here. just van between store van trucks. thé place Is open overnight because WE are une or two. I think that there was more campers It won't continue.

One of the flat spots with a fire ring just over a mile up the road. Close to the unpaved side road, but the side road has virtually no traffic (no cars passed in the evening or morning while I was here). Tucked away between hills from other pull-outs. Some view of the mountains, birds chirping, and jets flying overhead around 8am. Great private spot.

The pull-out surface is somewhere between road crush and soft sand, so I would probably avoid if it it's wet without 4WD.

Fizemos uma pausa para o café, o estacionamento é grande e tranquilo, ficamos numa boa sombra ao lado das vaquinhas. Tem uma grande conveniência com restaurantes, etc.
O posto de gasolina não é da bandeira shell, mas tem um shell 1km antes de chegar no Oásis.

Fairly large gravel lot with beautiful views of the bay. Slept here was any problem with one other van

First spigot doesn’t work. Keep driving to the next section of the rest stop. The second green spigot works and is threaded for a hose.

Wouldn't recommend if you're looking to sleep in a tent or if you're traveling alone. Yes it is right next to the rcmp station but it's very exposed and close to the houses. Got there and immediately started looking for a different spot for the night. Didn't help that when I drove through the little town there was an intersection that had been yellow taped off and there were 3 rcmp trucks with lights on dealing with a situation.

Not a bad nights sleep. Only a couple of trains ran during the night.

Nice laundromat! Good machines, very clean place.

Only a couple RV spots in the truck section - no thanks! One across the highway WAY better.

Ótimo lugar de parada, fica entre as cidades de Garibaldi e Bento Gonçalves, tem área de estacionamento, banho quente, tem água, loja de conviniência com internet wi-fi, banheiros (Não pagamos nada). Lugar seguro de pernoite. Recomendamos.

A great hideaway used by locals and other travelers. As described with a lot toilet. Some leftover trash here and there. Multiple fire rings. Some level areas. Water was cold but good for a plunge!

$10 for a 1 hour shower in a private room. 2 people max per shower. Clean, strong water pressure, and hot! Towels included. Pay at the front desk to get a shower key.
