We spent a quiet night no one showed up or bothered us. We arrived around 10pm pm and left around 9h30 am. Kept it low profile in a campervan. A nps park ranger drove by around 9 am and did not bother us.

Barry and Brothers Landrover Garage is located in the heart of Bakau. A tourist dominated town. They specialize in Landrover and very good with electronics.

At this gas station there is space to stay overnight, fill up with water and there is a power point in the parking lot.

Such a gem! Overnight parking is not just allowed but welcomed. It’s only a short walk to restaurants, music venues, and the museum. We felt completely safe walking to nearby venues after dark and had a good night of sleep. Please be respectful of this community and keep this open for others!

We had very good expierence. Our van belongs to category 10. We asked for the 2 month duration costs 91500 but she found out that the insurance for one year costs only 21000. Big diffrent and we are very happy that she has cecked it on the computer.

Great place, beautiful, quiet, very flowery (late April). Can be quite windy. There is a spot for a tent that is more protected, just a bit higher up.
The local shepherd was quite OK with us camping there.
A bit difficult to reach for 2x4’s.

Good place to wash your stuff. If you are a bit lucky, you can park just in front of the store. Big machine is 8€, a small machine 5€. dryer is 1€/10minutes.

Great area right on the beach. Public, cold outdoor shower. Water temp wasn't too bad at all. The stream is intense and you have to hold your finger on the button the entire time but after being on the road I didn't care. Came at 10am and the area was fairly busy.

Strict military check to enter Baja.
They will check and open your stuff. They don’t mind if there is 3hrs of queue.
If you don’t have a motorcycle, expect hours of wait to leave the port. It is insane and the system is really ineffective.

You will also need to pay another 105 mex$ for “import fees.

we couldn’t find a track on this side of the road. Maybe the camp is on the other side?

The stairs are left of the hotel behind the pool. I wouldn‘t recommend taking this path down in the wet season, we took it up and it was challenging. Some kids came with a boat from the other side to assist us, we gave them 1000 when we reached the top. There is a better way down on the left before the old Landrover. It’s a small road, after 500m turn right into a small path going down.

Empty, somewhat abandoned parking lot behind Albertsons/Planet Fitness. Spent 1 night without issues. No “no overnight” signs.

(Don’t stay too long and leave no trace)

They welded our chassis here and put a lot more effort in it than I expected when I saw it from the road

we got the car insurance for 8500 tenge (18€) from somebody right after the border. many people will run towards you and offer sim cards, money exchange, etc.

we stayed for a night and had dinner there.
rooms are basic but with air conditioning. 200000 som (15€) per person.
registration is possible, but you have to ask them a couple of times. they told us the system was down but then it wasn't :)
try the tasty Lagman dish for 30000 som :)

I would not recommend this place. Its mid week and the traffic was the loudest ive heard at a cracker barrel, all night.

The "new road" is far from finished and it is clearly not allowed to drive on it, at least in our opinion.
1. the paths leading to it are mostly blocked, only a few of them have been unblocked.
2. we met locals who left the new road. they were in a rush and clearly wanted to pull it off without being seen. they told us to not drive on it.
3. construction truck drivers made hand gestures while passing us by during our break next to the new road. They pointed us to the old, terrible road.
Of course a lot of locals drive on it in their small cars. But they know which parts they will not get caught in and where to enter and where to exit. Maybe you can risk it, too, if you have a motorcycle or light camper (e.g. VW bus, ...) but with more than ~3t weight we think it's highly inappropriate to use it.
The old road + the dust roads next to it can be frustrating and our average speed over 8 hours was around 25km/h. Stay strong and be a good guest in this country.

They don't fill American tanks. only maybe if you have an Argentinian adaptor. He sent us to El Bolson

Guesthouse with Ac room for 10000 XFA and Fan room for 6000 XFA. Clean and central. Easy to get to with a tuktuk. They cost 200 XFA and plenty of options around to find some grilled fish.

Pasamos dos tranquilas noches con luz agua, baño. Todo funcionando ok. atención fantástica. rodeados de ovejas y gallinas, muy lindo.

el camino para llegar es un poco complicado por la cuesta, pero llega todo vehículo, solo que lento.

nos cobraron 10.000 por 2 personas con motorhome, temporada baja.
