Turkey-Kurdistan. There were no helpers bugging us outside the buildings, and actually no line up of cars either. But still took three hours on the Turkish side. We’d overstayed our visa by 25 days, and ended up costing $400USD (2 people) and $85USD (2 Motos) Beware of helpers inside the official offices. They are allowed to walk freely in and out of the customs offices, and it’s impossible to tell them apart from the officials. While thinking we were dealing with a customs officer, we were surprised to find that a helper had grabbed our paperwork (off the officials desk) and was doing the rounds getting everything stamped and signed. It was helpful, but a shady way to do business. We didn’t pay him anything because of how he went about it. Very unorganized border.

Kurdistan side was welcoming and easy. $70 for the visa and $30 for the moto. Everything was straight forward and they even gave us a welcome meal of typical Iraqi food.

As of right now, it’s a decent place for overnight parking. But the amount of vans and RVs is growing tremendously, and many people are being fairly abusive about it. This will lead to issues, so let’s try together to be smart about it.

The cops have and will enforce the usual San Diego prohibitions on living and sleeping in your vehicle. Make no mistake about it, camping in your vehicle here is pushing the law. There is a police station with an extensive presence on the island. Many people have received tickets, even though they turn a blind eye to lots more. The more severe the abuse gets, the more it’s noticed by residents, visitors, and police - the more likely the entire situation will change.

If you visit, please be smart about it. The vast majority use this as a quick overnight spot and nothing else - come in late, don’t make it obvious you’re inside, and leave early. If everyone sticks to this, it will help keep the police enforcement to a minimum. If you want to stay nearby during the day, consider moving around from your overnight parking spot and try to keep your visibility to a minimum.

As posted. Quiet and pleasant. I spent one night here in my SUV (because my usual campground was closed from mudslides). I surmise that it's still available because we arrive late, depart early and leave no mess. Restrooms across the street at the outlets close at 8:00 pm. Nobody there when I got there at 8:30 PM. One big RV and another trailer were there in the AM.

A very nice place by the lake with showers and toilets. It rained very heavily overnight. We had a hard time with our van 2wd. Be careful in the lake and near the showers there are crocodiles.

Corp of Engineers Campground, on Waco Lake. beautiful campground with electricity, water, and sewer connections. sites 9 -13 are excellent sites on the water for viewing the sunset. Large sites with fire pits and grills. if you have an America the Beautiful Pass, only $16 a night. I would definitely come back. You must make reservations on Recreation.gov.

Great vibe, on walking distance from downtown La Paz and very friendly staff/owners. They offer small but fine RV sites and a great shared living area and kitchen. Hot showers, laundry room and good wifi available. We stayed here for five nights and made great new friends.

Took me about 25 min from exit 319 off I25 to reach this destination. I didn’t notice any clearly marked campsites so after driving around a few of the roads I parked near the entrance on some low grown grass. Beautiful, quiet spot I had all to my self. The wind picked up over night so batten down the hatches!

Great spot! A little busy as mentioned, but we enjoyed staying here for a couple of days. When coming down the road the dirt path splits into 3 roads (all leading to the same place). It’s best to take the center one. The road on the right has a steep drop just before you make it to the big clearing. One of us topped out and needed a tow!

The best place to get sourdough bread and croissants. If you go early you can buy all different breads and the almonds croissant are just the best we have tasted in a very long time. Also the chocolate croissants are perfect!

Stayed 3 nights in January 2023. Good paved road to get to this large, rather rocky lot. Some rock fire rings around the perimeter. 10 to 13 rigs of all sizes each night I was here. Not much traffic noise after 6pm, even though this site is near a highway. Sign at entrance asks people to take care of this area, and I was please to note very little litter. About 6.5 miles south of White's City, on County Road 424. This road is also called Dillahunty Road, but 424 is the sign visible from the highway.
