We didn’t know what to expect based on previous reviews. We went anyway and ended up really enjoying it! Here’s the latest info on this spot. Puertecitos is a gated residential community on private land. They have vacation homes, two markets (only the northern one sells alcohol, the southern one has wifi for a fee), one taco stand, an art gallery, a campground right on the beach, and the hot springs. The day fee for the hot springs is $500 pesos per car and they’re open for day use from 7am-7pm. BUT for $100 pesos more ($600 total for hot springs and camping) you can stay overnight at the campground and use the springs until 2pm the next day.

The campground itself is expensive for what you get but you’re mostly paying for the hot springs. The sites are close together along the shore. They each have a shade, picnic table, grill, a tank of water with spout for rinsing, light, and an electrical outlet for charging devices. The electricity is powered by a generator that’s only on from sunset until 10pm. There are flushing toilets but no toilet paper (bring your own) or sinks. No working showers, but they provide a bucket and water for rinsing in the private shower stalls. There are no hookups and no wifi. However, it’s really secure since the community gates close at 10pm and they have security 24/7. Perfect for tent camping and off grid campers. The beach is nice and the water is clean. It has palapas and the tide goes out really far.

To get the best experience and make the high cost worth it, we recommend the following: come prepared with your own food and water, show up as early as possible, walk 10 minutes over to the hot springs to enjoy them throughout the day and night, watch the sunset with a drink at the boat ramp next to Serge’s (the artist that owns Pez Gallery in town) beautiful sculptures, and take another dip or two in the morning before you leave. The hot springs themselves are very unique and totally worth staying overnight if you have the time. Staying for an hour isn’t enough because some of the pools are only accesible at different tide levels. The ocean water fills them in as the tide rises and makes them cool enough to enjoy one or two at a time. We’d definitely return for another 24 hours of soaking. Hope this helps others make their decision.

I came here because the Nicaraguan gov't didn't approve my PCR Covid test to get into Managua by air and the Honduras gov't does not require one to fly in (they do require vax). I was on a time crunch and needed to get to Nica ASAP. Essentially the border is extremely loose and you could probably walk right in if you don't have a car (i didn't notice one person conducting security) but that might make it difficult to get out of the country so I would not recommend that. Technically to get into Nicaragua by land you are supposed to fill out the prechequeo online (migracion, customs and COVID form) a week before you get there. I filled mine out only about a day or two before I got there and they let me in. I may have gotten lucky but I was also told by the Nicaraguan Migration help line that all I needed to do was send my negative PCR test to this email [email protected] and I would be good. The requirements are pretty confusing and I got varying information from the US / Nica gov't. If you fill out the prechequeo form a week before, have multiple copies of your negative pcr test, and have a valid passport you are good to go. I am not recommending you go without filling out the prechequeo form a week before you get there but just know that it is possible that you can get in without doing so. I may have gotten lucky or they may not be that strict but either way I got in with only sending the form in a day or two before getting there. I do not speak great spanish but luckily had my driver there to help me. I would highly recommend if you plan on doing this you speak great spanish or have someone there to help you. Let me know if you have any question :)

A must stop place that is super friendly to cyclists, delicious food and very welcoming staff! We were able to camp in the backyard, ate at the restaurant and then in the morning had a delicious carrot cake and coffee. Can’t recommend this place enough, especially if you are cycling south then it’s a much-needed treat after a long day of uphills from Isiolo. The area has Delum’s cafe & farm shop (say hi to Lucy!) then next door is the Entrecote restaurant & small shop. Staff of both places are very helpful and friendly.

We were able to camp here after cycling the grueling up hills from Isiolo. The staff of both the restaurant and cafe are super friendly and helpful! They let us camp out back in the beautiful garden area. Clean toilets nearby. Delicious food in the restaurant and at the container ship cafe! Highly recommend going here, it’s a beautiful place with a great restaurant, coffee and cake.

All parks for parking seem to be closed this time of the year in Rasjt. We visited all of them. Also parking spots were not an option for us, since we have a rooftop tent. This was our last option. Not an official camping. However, we could park the car right in front of the porch of the park (next to the road) and next to the office of the security guys. They let us use the toilets in the park. The next morning we were asked to leave at 8am.

Very nice beach. Pitch between palm trees directly near the water. Clean toilets and showers. Otherwise no infrastructure available. You should bring everything you need. Water is available from its own fountain.

We stayed here to get our PCR-test for Namibia. The campsite is just outside Upington before you enter the desert. There is a swimmingpool with a big slide.
In the surrounding fields are some gazelles.
Upington has some 4x4 stores. 4x4 Mega World (Midas), Safari Center.

We paid ZAR520 camping for two adults and two children.

Very calm and beautiful place. The owner is totally nice and kind. They made a fire for us and we sat together for a while. The toilets are clean. Water is cold. We paid 200 pesos for one night for 2 persons. We got electricity and fresh water for our camper. The ground is a bit steep. We would definitely recommend this place!

super solid spot, a few hunters so be careful to stay on trail but definitely big enough for close to a half dozen vans. There's a little bit of through traffic but it's been quiet after 6pm.

I detoured to the marked point on the other side of the lake when it got late en route to Salto de Zaragoza, and found the access road blocked off. Almost didn't bother marking this spot as it's very exposed, but had a lovely peaceful night, and just water birds and butterflies for company in the morning. Flattish area of the land between the road and the pretty lake. Visible from everywhere, no shade. Just a minute or two to a small parade of lakefront businesses where you're could probably grab meal and a toilet; I didn't try. There are palapas and seating there too.

Honest and kind people. Very welcoming
Adolpho, Rosemary and Aymer are a family with good size land that opened they're massive garden to us for a mere 50 pesos per night. Cold showers, toilets, sinks, power and faucets are all available. It's very relaxing and on their ground, there is a view of the pyramids, it's a 15min hike.
Would definitely return if ever back in this region.

Place might be close to the center, but no interesting options around. very muddy in the raining season. Better to arrive early, since there aren't many spots available. police station was closed. R$10 for overnight.

Posto pode ser perto do centro, mas não tem opções ao redor. Muita lama na época da chuva. Posto policial estava fechado, mas o acarajé na porta estava funcionando. Tem um espaço para descarte de dejetos.
