As described very quick crossing ZIM>MOZ (Ger passports with CDP) even at Sunday evenings (5 p.m.). No road tax or insurance asked at MOZ.

Just added that there were many changers at both sides, 65 MZN for 1 USD, they also offer SIM cards.

One ATM (no local fees for Visa Card) and petrol station (small, just 1 min out of town going southeast) at Malvernia.

Sidenote: If you exit Gonarezhou too late to cross the border it should be possible to wildcamp in the 5 km stretch of road between the park gate and border post (though no side streets exist).

Parking lot next to beautiful lake, very quiet at night - not too far from highway Germany to Denmark - swimming in lake is possible

Alex and he’s dad are the best. Always willing to help in whatever you need.
Place for motorhomes of any size, caravans, motorcyclists and cyclists.
Beautiful vegetable garden with some shade to put the tent.
Clean bathrooms with hot water, electricity, and everything you will need for your stay.
Also there is rooms and houses available.

There are signs up at this rest area saying no overnight camping. A handful of truckers and larger rigs parked in the upper lot and stayed though. I decided to risk it and stayed in my SUV in the lower lot despite no other cars being there. Was in the lot for about 12 hours and no one bothered me the whole time. Very quiet area. Bathrooms were big and clean. You could also stay at the truck stop right beside here if you’d rather, just a bit noisier.

Now named Moab RV. $7 for unlimited time shower. Must bring your own towel. Pay at the office and there are showers connected to the office or more out back. The office ones were in use, so i used the others. Private bathroom and hot water.

Marvellous wild camping spot at the beginning of a narrow canyon. The actual spot is a flat space on the grassy hill at the canyon entrance and is only reachable by bike or foot. However there are spots accessible by cars nearby.
It is really worth to hike along the about 1 km long and very narrow canyon; by bicycle it is possible, but not easy, to push through (we needed to take off luggage and carry the bike in one place, else we could push). The canyon then merges into the wider canyon to the east at 38.29487, 68.01756 where an asphalt road runs through. The camp spot can be reached either through the canyon or a dirt road leaving the asphalt road at 38.31168, 67.03275.

Just as everyone else was saying, very popular but well worth it for the views. Had a fantastic sunrise and all around good time. When I came in it had been drizzling all day and the entire road was mud, but it was substantially worse after the turnoff on the main gravel road. I did not have a problem getting to my spot with a base 2016 Subaru crosstrek, but when I left in the morning awd was necessary to make it back to the main drag with the thick clay. The mud was bad enough that I ended up going into the park and using a picnic spot to make breakfast instead of stomping around in it, though it wouldn’t have been impossible!

Hacienda Mérida is closed since october/23. Right next to it, there is a place called Rancho Mérida. It costed US$ 10 dollars for a car with two people. Family is very friendly. They have a large open grassy area for the cars, with a lot of mango trees. There are two entrances, and it fits big rigs too. Clean bathrooms and cold shower. If you speak to the owners, they can give you electricity. Very nice place, close to a mini market and a very good restaurant (Escuela Hotel Volcan Maderas) with good prices and the best food in Nicarágua so far.

Traveled this route from north to south with our Rog 6x2.2x3.3m The 116/115 is full of potholes and bumpy and some riverbed crossings, but no problem. The 117 down to Cachicadan is smooth and in a good condition. The shortcut is really worth it and beautiful landscape.

State Park Ranger drove thru around 9pm and told me I had to leave by yelling out of his truck. Far less jarring than a knock. Told me I had to go to a campground and where two were. I just drove to the dog park area in Half Moon Bay.

They probably kick ppl out of every unmarked pull out on the hwy around here.

I rolled in just after sunset on a Sunday night. there is some equipment in that quarry and I don't think it's abandoned where the pinpoint is. BUT, the driveway just before it is a great spot and seems dead. Drive around the mound to the left and there is a flat private pace. mound provides nice blocking of street noise. Careful, there is a large drop off in behind the mound.

What a fantastic place for overlander´s! Big Pool with crystal clear water, very clean showers and toilets with seats and paper. Francisca is an amazing host! Paid for us 2.5 and our Truck 50k. Recommended,

It was super windy so we decided to stay here. It’s okay for one night. There is a ”refugio” where you park. It’s a big shelter that protects a little bit from the wind. Power went off at 6AM and there was no water in the shower. The carekeeper told me that the only place to wash the dishes is the toilet sink.

This specific spot is now on private, fenced and locked land but there are still some options out of the fenced area. There is plenty of space.

Quiet spot a little further down, called Piney Trail. The trail is blocked a little ways in, so we parked our 35 foot bus on the edge, while our friends parked their trailer at the entrance. Gave us a good spot for a couple days, quite, birds, sweet little shooting range 12 min south. Rained a fair bit the last night, which made things mushy and we sunk a couple inches getting back to the main gravel road, but had no problem.

Good spot with great view, on a first-arrived first-served basis.It may be the free spot the closest to Island in the sky. Not very flat everywhere but still fine. A bit sandy. some puddles after the rain so we were a bit worried with our 2wd campervan but we made it 3 times.

Note that having at least a portable toilet system is an obligation to sleep here.

Sandy parking lot, but nice. There was other bus here camping he said he’d been there for 3 nights and police would show up just to make sure no one was drink and didn’t bother him. But today I was asked to leave by the sheriffs department, said there’s no overnight parking, someone probably just complained, so they had to have us leave.

Above average Walmart. Nice grass near the entrance of the lot for dogs, almost entirely level lot, quiet at night, little to no riff-raff!! Stayed here once last year as well, still just as chill!

Don’t use google maps to get here, it will drop you off in a driveway, where it seems they have recently put down boulders where people had been camping oops.

This Chevron has a large parking lot with mini spaces. They rent out. For stealth vans I think it’s $10 for a space. We paid $60 per 24 hour to fit our 37’ foot A-class. Pay inside the gas station, if you’re in a vehicle larger than one space then be friendly and ask if you RV can fit by the back fence (see pictures).

Right by the road but quiet enough. Only two other cars till 1 when some sketchy transactions happened between 2 cars pulling in. Did not feel safe after that.

Crossed on a Sunday from Colombia to Ecuador. Parked at the little “parqueadero oficial” just beside the DIAN. Could also park further down.

Got exit stamps in our passports, then went to the DIAN to cancel our TIP. Supposed to get an email, but the Cartagena office didn’t put my email in the system when we arrived… so I took a picture of the employee’s computer screen (her suggestion).

Drove across bridge (center lane for normal cars). Parked immediately to the right next to the Agrocalidad, before going through the police check. Walked to get entry stamps. We received 90 days thanks to being on a list either the Tourism Ministry. Contact Hans at Finca Sommerwind to make this happen. Walked out to the windows outside to get the TIP. No copies needed. The employee took pictures of the van with her van, including the VIN. She emailed me a code. My Claro sim card from Colombia was still working fine. Got the TIP with 90 days.

We have a dog and chose not to export him from Colombia or import him into Ecuador based on many other people doing the same. It was totally chill. I’m pretty sure the guy from the Agrocalidad even saw our dog, and he didn’t say anything.

Drove past the police to leave. They didn’t even bother opening the van.

Nice little flat pullout with a fire pit. Great view of the valley and river below. It is exposed to the wind and you can hear the highway/ train below but it's not super loud. Overall great spot to camp for the night!

Over the mountain near a stream, between two mountains. Trees, greenery , lots of different wild flower. Quite, no one around..

The ATM was out of order when I was there :(
