Beautiful and calm location in the nature on the beach and not far from the town, the best of both worlds. Rooms are roofless and need a sweep. We found a room shielded from the wind and we put up a tent and also on a mat outside under the stars.

Don’t make the same mistake that we did which was make a fire on the tiled floor that blew up quite dramatically…we collected sand and covered the rubble. Then made a fire on top the evidence. We were safe.

Open dirt lot south of the gas station. No signage. Spent one night. Didn't notice any foot traffic.

Large parking lot at km84 right next to the road. It's at an elevation so there's a nice view of the sea, coastline and little bay underneath. Seems like this is a viewspoint and resting area (some trucks stopped for a bit during day/ early evening and went on again). On the other side of the road there's a steep slope upward, so could be a good spot to hide from western winds.

On approx 200m there's some houses and Campo La Costilla, the manager is very nice and said that this spot should be safe and that sometimes other truckers/vans stay overnight here. Yes, it's next to the road and the parking lot itself is nothing special, but it could be a good stopover and there was little to no traffic at night. We felt a bit exposed staying here at first, but ended up having a decent night.

Now parking is paid 60 rupees/4 hours. It's relatively quiet at 2 a.m. during the week. I recommend avoiding this place on weekends.

Great pay dry camping beach. Mario comes every evening and collects 100 pesos per vehicle. Trash and recycling cans, a short walk to town, and an abandoned marina that was never used. Excellent point break for anything 2' and bigger. Can get really windy with a lot of sand moving. Great beach and dune walking, dog heaven.

Very nice and clean campsite. 160 pula/pppn. Ablutions and pool super clean. Great hot showers, great cool pool. Campsites grassy and clean, everything works well. The six campsites are just a bit close to each other. We had nr.3. Friendly South African owners. You can pay only by cash or a Visa card (they don’t take Mastercard).

Spend a night here. Just in front of the Campsite. Nobody bothered us because I am not sure if wild camping is allowed here. We saw many many capybaras. Great sunset over the lake.

We really enjoyed our time at Koala. The grounds are immaculate and the lake front views cannot be beat. We stayed behind the cabañas in the small ‘trailer park’ and took advantage of the power and water at the sites. It was really quiet the night we arrived but due to the area’s popularity it soon became a somewhat noisy party scene. That said, you’ll have the place to yourself if you arrive during the week. DO NOT miss the excellent restaurant here. The food is fantastic! We paid $300Mex/noche which was well worth it for such a beautiful spot.

You will find in this and other tents of the village very basic products such as bread, eggs, pasta, chocolates, canned food, and sometimes cheese, fruits and vegetables.
Once a week comes a truck with more variety of fruits and vegetables, and stops in the square to sell the products. Although the village is small, and the supply of products is low, the values are not abusive. In the gym there is a drinking water tap - we didnt buy water, we just drank from there.
________

We were planning to wildcamp along the dique de los Alisos but were kindly advised by the police not to stay here (on any of the places recommanded along the lake) because of the high unsafe carracter of the place... numerus robberies were repported here. On week-ends people come to drink before partying in Jujuy and make the place unsafe...
there is a municipal camping (see other post) right by the police station that is safe + toilets and cold showers - 200$ pp

Beautiful views. Awesome Grey whale experience. Lots of Ospreys.
Staff are friendly
Showers are cold - there’s no gas
Trash cans are plentiful
Get any shopping etc you need before you arrived. If you leave and return again it costs another $100 pesos- it’s not much but by not leaving during your stay you save yourself that we bit

Simple but very nice and clean hostel. We stopped here before crossing to Bolivia. We slept in our campervan outside along the street, but we had a nice hot shower 🚿 (@ 1.000 CLP p.P.) and an excellent dinner 🍲 (soup + main course + tea @ 5.000 CLP p.P.) inside. Owners are super friendly and the daughter speaks good English.

Large parking area, nice river with picnic tables. Traffic noise dies down at night. A few fishermen during the day but very quiet otherwise. Easy access & good spot for any vehicle. Might be a popular hang out for locals as several vehicles arrived around 2am, hanging out in the parking lot, then they all cleared out about an hour later. Same thing happened the night prior at the beach down the street. Good TMobile.

They have bedbugs. I told them but all they did was offer my free laundry and a room switch - the kept using the room I had been in for other guests. If you don’t want bedbugs it’s probably best not to stay here…
