Really nice modern facility. If you don’t like communal locker rooms there are two private bathrooms with showers. One each, just across from men’s and women’s change rooms.

Fairly quiet. 30-40 vehicles. Restrooms and vending machines. Someone was sleeping in the men’s bathroom.

The road is overgrown and muddy so we were not able to get to it. 30 minutes up the road at the ‘Wildcamp at the pass’ was our next best option which had plenty of space for camping.

Big, fairly level gravel lot. Signs at both entrances say no overnight parking. Stayed 1 night no issues. Next to downtown shopping area.

Very professional and familial tour. They adapted very well what you want. Trust and safe even for family with children. We had Alvaro guide. Very good driver. Safe and don’t take alcohol. Contact WhatsApp Alvaro +591 (7) 421-0733 or Nelson +591 (7) 389-7711, the boss of the agency. Here is the family house. They don’t have agency in Uyuni. You can start you tour from Uyuni, Tupiza, Chili Border. Very flexible. Recommended 200%

There are a few camping spots off to the side of the road on the way to Ivy Creek Campground. The campground has pit toilets and is mostly for tents and has a creek running through it. Our truck camper fit in the first spot in the campground as we entered the campground but we opted to move to one of the flatter roadside campsite areas nearby. Very quiet with little traffic. The road in is dirt and a little wash boarded in spots but not bad. The Ivy Creek Campground is not big rig friendly but some of the roadside sites are.

Pretty cool spot when it's wet. First take the exit from the mainroad to the sub road. In the next corner you'll find the entrance to this roomy spot. Easy access for all rigs. Also perfect to pitch a tent. Close to the mainroad, but tree line gives privacy feel. Not much traffic, at night nothing. When you come from the north, this place is the first spot with altitude really below 2000 m.

This is a great site which includes a clean porta-potty, picnic tables and even some easy chairs and benches overlooking the river. There was a B-class parked on the gravel parking lot when we arrived, but room for many more if needed. The evening was quiet but traffic on the road increased in the morning. We believe the town of Port Elgin is intentional about supporting this overnight parking lot.

Very nice spots, quiet, few people here when we were here. We stayed in a lot a little away from the water, near a bathroom. Was great, beautiful sunset.

We spent the night here. It quieted down and we had a really good nights sleep. The truckers have to park on one side of the building, and cars on the other….so, no idling trucks. The restaurant and store are very nice. Bathrooms are clean. There’s a playground and lots of green space for dogs.
I would stay here again.

Nice campground with spots on the lake and some with a lake view. $22.00 but with $8.00 fee for reservation online (only way to reserve). Pit toilets and dumpsters. Too pricey for our budget but suited our needs for a night.

Under new management. Nice wildlife reserve with zebras, different antelopes and birds. The campsite is in and around a little forest without fixed sites. The ablutions are big and clean, hot water with a donkey. The reception has a restaurant and a shop, but we didn't made use of it. They offer bush walks, horse ride and you can rent a bike or just go for a walk for yourself. It all seems to become freshened up atm. So far totally recommend!
But it comes with a price: 15000 Kwacha entry fee pp plus 15 USD pp for camping. It's compared to other places in Malawi very expensive. Maybe you can negotiate, we didn't try.
So if you are prepared to pay this amount, you will enjoy for sure. It's a good stop between Cape Maclear and Ngala Beach.

Very quite place next to a small Lagune. No visible from the road. Went there with a 4x4 but should be doable with a 4x2.

Beautiful rest stop. very spacious. I pulled in around 6:00 p.m. and I was the only vehicle there. really wanted to stay here but the noise from the interstate was so loud. you are literally right beside the interstate. if you're going to TRY to sleep here park around on the back side. other than the noise, beautiful spot.

Nice and clean, several RVs in a shuttle bus here with me. The noise from interstate 40 is unbearable though. you are literally right beside the interstate and frontage road. if you're going to try to sleep here, bring ear plugs.

Great spot unless you are here at the same time as about 100 military on basic training! They showed up after we were all set up but fortunately they were quiet after 9 pm.
The road up to the parking lot for Cotopaxi was in excellent condition but we chose not to drive all the way to the top as the surface was getting deeper and sandier. We didn’t want to risk it and the walk up the road was only about 10-15 minutes. We were glad we parked lower down as the “parking lot” was pretty sketchy, not level and all 6 cars there had their tires chocked with small boulders for safety.
If the view of Cotopaxi is obscured by low cloud keep checking. Eventually it cleared for us.

A great spot to escape the heat of Central America. Plus getting to see both coasts was a bonus. We loved the temperature up here. I’m dreading leaving and going back to the heat and humidity of the coast. Many spots to camp in besides this one along the road to Cerro Frio. Free, quiet and peaceful=perfect.

Nice park next to the highway but I did not hear it after I went to bed. Electric and water at the camp site. And a dump station free for two days. The number to call is posted at the camp ground.

Stayed here for 5 nights. There is a guard on duty 24/7. The parking guys are super nice. We got a ticket before 7am each morning and paid before 10pm (often around 8:30pm) for the full day’s worth of $8 (6am-10pm for $0.50/hr). There was only one guy who was confused about this system and wanted to charge for the night, but I explained what we had been doing with the other attendant and he had no problem with it. Spanish will be helpful.

Bathrooms close around 5pm, so better if you have your own toilet. The park is amazing for running, working out, and playing with your dog. There is an awesome dog park at the southern end of the park, but almost everyone had their dog off-leash throughout the entire park.

Felt safe every night. Relatively quiet. Chill spot - highly recommended.

A atendente falou que só podia pernoitar se abastecesse 300 litros, mas falamos com o segurança da Casa do Alemão e ele falou que podíamos pernoitar na frente. Foi super tranquilo só tem muito barulho de caminhão.
