This is a really nice park to spend the day at. We worked all day here from a Class B van. There is a dog park, restrooms and water fountains, 2 playgrounds, a paved walking path, basketball courts, a rugby field, tennis courts, a baseball diamond and a small pond. Along the walking path there are stations for exercises and stretching. There are benches for resting along the path. It felt very safe. There were plenty of other people around. There are 2 parking areas. A small paved lot on the west side of the park (on a busy street and louder) and a larger gravel lot on the east side of the park (residential and quieter). Excellent Verizon and T-Mobile cell coverage.

Bought 40 liters of fuel here today. 1490 P/L. Just went there and asked.

We arrived at Huayqui at sunset in order to hike to the Waqrapukara the next day. Locals were very friendly and told us to sleep in the main square. Quite narrow streets to get to the square. Very quiet except some kids asking for caramelos, would recommend to have something to give them if you want they leave you in peace.
A free wifi is supposed to be available on the square but we couldn’t connect. Otherwise there is very good signal with Bitel.
We let the camper the entire day while hiking and had no issue. Took us 3h to go to the Waqrapukara and 2h30 to come back. Entrance is free. Incredible hike, totally recommended !

Homestay in an extremely beautiful setting: a traditional house like a museum, but inhabited by sweet women, renting out some of the many rooms of their little palace.
Rooms from 16€ (single) to 30€ (luxurious double), homemade breakfast included. Homemade dinner on previous notice.
WiFi, hot showers, very very clean. Heaters in the room for cold nights, double glazed windows with blinds for very deep sleep.
Safe parking for 2-3 normal sized cars in the gated yard, motorbikes and bicycles no problem at all.
Preferably book through Hostelworld.com as only the daughter speaks English, French and Spanish, the older ladies speak only Arabic (but will call the daughter).
Perfect place from 1001 nights for your first or last night in Morocco.

As of 1st May 2024, this section of road is now paved with beautifully smooth black tarmac! enjoy! :)

Nice, quiet Tuesday night here. No one else around. Beautiful sunset! As other have said, there are lots of pull-outs along the road for dispersed camping. Would stay again!

Although there are many roads here in the navigation maps, you can’t avoid the military checkpoint when you are nearby.

Tip: we passed with an tour guide vehicle. So we did not have to stop here. We just drove behind them. Easy get through and maybe also a tip for you.
We have 3 very big Jerry cans on the roof, that are clearly visible. Had no problem.

Here is a toll gate that is closed. So you have to pay 10 BOBs for using the road to Julaca. It’s north from here.

This place seems permanently closed. Doors are locked. Building looks rundown and not in use.

Nice spot! Still $8. The first shower I tried had low pressure and no hot water, but the next one over was hot for about 5min before it started getting colder. Very very clean all around.

Small washers are now $4, but very clean and very nice that they take cards & coins.

Lots of spots back here! Pretty level areas, and surprisingly good service for being so deep in the woods.

1 small shower in the men’s bathroom (don’t know about women’s). Water was nice and hot. Day pass is $22, so not worth going just for the shower, but if you want to climb (it’s quite a fun gym) you can also get a shower in.

Got our carnet stamped here from Guinea to Sierra Leone.
The big chief knew very well how to fill in the paperwork, my explanations were absolutely not necessary..... Check carefully yourself.

The police was not there to stamp us out of Guinea, they apparently were in Conakry.. So we left without a stamp, with the story we could get a stamp 16km further.. We didn't bother to find someone to stamp us out.

We arrived here for immigration into SL, but the visa on arrival was unknown to them. e-visa he had an example of, and could process. One officer wrote us into 'the big book' and needed to call his boss, Mr Osman, what to do with the visa.
The boss told him to meet us in Kabala. With his phone number and the promise that "as soon as you enter Kabala they will find you" we could enter..
They found us / we found Mr Osman and got our stamp in Kabala.

Came here crossing from Guinea.
Stopped at the rope, had a chat with a lot of people, did some tours of our camper. One guy asked to open a couple of storage compartments.
After a friendly guy filled in our carnet and stamped it. Smooth sailing

Lovely little park area. water isn't turned on yet, but power is available. Three night free stay. Safe area, great view.

Went in to ask to use water but they don’t have it anymore as they’re selling/closing shop. She said the Speedway on Hwy 160 has water.

Entrance to the park is $5 per person. Access to a very beautiful beach, hot showers and very close. Continuing discreetly on the campsite road, you will find water troughs on the side of the 2nd small parking lot. Under the water troughs there is a tap. be discreet as it is normally for campers.
L'entrée pour le parc est de 5$ par personne. Accès à une très belle plage, à des douches chaudes et très proches. En continuant discrètement sur la route du camping, vous trouverez des abreuvoir sur le côté du 2e petit stationnement. Sous les abreuvoirs, il y a un robinet. soyez discrets car c'est normalement pour les campeurs.

Western standard, toilets, parking and an outdoor seating area under umbrellas. They had chicken shawarma 70, many products from India - biscuits and crisps etc. some beers and juice.

Would probably let you sleep here if you asked

Good place to stay if there are no other options. We decided to sleep here because the weather was a bit challenging for driving as well as for wild camping in nature. We felt safe here. Toilets are clean and the cafeteria-shop is warm. Friendly people, no problems.

Little pulled out in gravel. Ok for one or 2 big rig. Even tent. Good road to come here. Nice after valley arco Iris. No wind. Quiet place, felt safe. Visible from the road but nobody past. 4G
