The road to get here is nowhere near as bad as in some descriptions of the many sites along the road. Yes there is some washboard but it’s not bad at all and our Sprinter handled it just fine. The creek has some water in it, 75 paces away from our van. Beautiful shade.

Stayed here a few nights in a pickup truck, would leave during the day and come back in the evening. Had no issues, parked in the back on the lawn and garden side, a few vans and RVs throughout the days I was here.

Right off the interstate. Lots of road noise and traffic. Good if you just need to stop and rest for a while.

Showers located at the back of the Coco restaurant. Entrance through the mini market. Price 1000 or 2000 C (I don't remember), cold water. Well-appointed cabins with height shelf for clothes and hooks for towels. Perfectly located a few dozen meters from a magnificent spot for campervans.

Dumping is only possible at full hookup sites, means if you book a dry site you cannot dump.
Upgrading to full hookup at arrival means cancelling your dry site (up to 2 days non refundable, because of cancellation policy).

Beautiful free campground, as others have noted. Most spots were taken but we were able to get a spot when we arrived midday. The interpretive trail up to the petroglyphs is worth taking. Important to note, this must be a popular hunting area in some seasons, as there are elk bones and pelts lying around everywhere! Lots of wildlife around too. We would definitely come back.

Stayed 1 night after coming back from Manu National Park. Still the best spot we could find on reasonable altitude. It is close to the local market with public toilets, trash bins and you can buy delicious fresh fruit, bread and sandwiches.
Paucartambo itself is terrible to drive through with a large vehicle, the streets are too narrow to pass eachother and drivers are reckless and impatient. But it’s the perfect place to start and end your Manu jungle adventure.

We had a great 2-week stay in early April (3090 pesos per week). The snowbirds had already migrated north so it was nearly empty and very quiet. The rates vary based on the row and proximity to the ocean, but in slower season you can pay for 3rd row and still get great ocean views and breezes! Level spots, mostly with pads. We had to rent a converter from David for our class C RV, due to only 50amp available. Easy walk to two water taxis (to different parts of Mazatlan). Laundry and groceries also within walking distance. Garrafones delivered daily. Saturday nights were noisy with loud music at neighboring properties, but all other nights were very chill and relaxing.

This is the Lesotho post. Temporary building for now. They are building a brand new one to go with the new road. About 15km to finish to the A1. The other 30km are brand new tar.

The South Africa side is about 2km further. Open from 8-4. Took less than a minute at each

If we knew that the roads in all of Turkmenistan is worst than Afghanistan we will definitely took the way from Taybad Iran to Tajikistan through Afghanistan and didn’t pay 1000€ for this unpleasant journey of damaged streets in Turkmenistan. Only the first 100km is looking very modern and than after 200km the middle age streets Beginns and if you are lucky your car Van or Camper will get some minor damages and the cost of crossing Turkmenistan will raise. Take the way through Afghanistan and not Turkmenistan will be our advice to all of you. Or go to Pakistan and than Afghanistan.

Local tranquilo e seguro.

Great spot, lots of picnic tables. Plenty of people coming and going in the evening, but a quiet night overall. However, there is a sign that says no overnight parking…

Good Spot for a night. The windmill doesn't work this night, so it was quiet. The road has only one exit.

Place is as described, it's very quiet and there are nice trails to do after a long drive. We also met some friendly locals in the morning (apart from the one person that drove by speedily and blared their horn at 6am...)
We were super happy to stay there for a night anyway! Thanks to this community :)

Big parking lot beside a lake that has a walking/cycling track around it. Busy during the day but emptied out by 9pm. Has a porta potty. We were the only ones here in our van which made us paranoid about getting the knock but we weren't bothered. A very quiet night. Trail users started trickling in again by 8am.
