Place seemed decent until a car showed up around 11.30pm doing donuts and almost hit our van a couple times. Ended up leaving instead of risking it.

$10/Night if you have a NPS Park pass. Though I highly doubt any staff come and check if you did reserve/pay for a site. Supposedly all online thru Rec.gov... I would only stay here on weekdays. I stayed on a Tues with two other sites filled very quiet. Prob going to get a lot of local youths on the wknd because its real close to a high school and town..

What a cool place! in spot #4 with view of lake and Sunset. Arrived around 6pm; most boating activity done. Very quiet. $10 seems like a nuisance fee haha. Don't hesitate to come here. I would guess later in the season that this place is very busy.

Just fueled up and filled up our water tank. Asked inside before and got a simple and friendly yes. Easy just the way I like it. Thanks 7 eleven.

Established DOC site off the highway. Online booking prior are required, can pay in person but not recommended during busy season. $10/night adult, $5/night child. Restrooms, covered picnic areas, detailed map of hikes in the area. Non potable water. Great cell service. No dumping, no trash.

DOC established campsite, right off highway on the lake. Boat ramp access point. Toilets, no cell service, potable water, no dogs allowed. Pre booking recommended $15/night

A good spot for a night - clean, well kept, quiet. There is a loop at the end of the road that has 2 or so spots along it - not super level but we managed

You need to go in the sandy portion if you want a quiet area. The first part is not very hard and there is a flat solid area after 200 m. If you are brave (or not lazy to deflate :)) you can go further up to the hill.
Garbage as often in Saudi Arabia.
Guys came at 23:00 to check who we are but did not disturb us (only see their lights and they went away).

You can stop before when coming from elephant rock. Plenty of space to camp. Beautiful quiet area with no garbage !!!
No need to deflate (there are spots really near the gravel road). We think no 4x4 needed.

Rooms with bathroom, restaurant and big parking. Diferent prices-rooms 2000 ksh to 3000 ksh. Clean, friendly and quiet. Not bad...

Had a service and some minor repair for my Toyota Land Cruiser 78. Very good workshop.

Next to a historical palace (open, no guard, no entrance fee). Before you enter there are some places to park in between trees. Looks like the locals come here to picnic (lots of trash, fire places). You can here the road, but you aren't visible. For us it was a perfect spot to relax.

Nice place with a good atmosphere to work and drink coffee! The coffee is really good.

The road is pretty worn down and truckers avoid the roundabout with picnic tables and nice grassy lawn.

Still nice to visit in April 2024. No tourists but a looot of locals doing picnic (and wanting to make photos with us :-D). Maybe because everything is green and blossoming at this time of the year. We did not have to pay any entry, there was no one anyway at the northern gate. The northern road is now paved also, so no need to take the southern one and risk not being allowed to pass through the childrens camp.

In 2024 both roads to the petroglyph canyon are paved, so no need to risk taking the southern one and not being allowed to pass through the childrens camp (we first took the southern one and needed some pleading to be allowed to push our bicycles while being escorted through the camp. Going back we took the northern one which was also perfect asphalt).
Also we the guard at the gate just waved, no passport check.

Single room for 9500kwanza including breakfast.
No buffet. Meal costs 3000kwanza.

It is an okay place to camp. We found it really difficult to find good camping spots in this area. This one you can use for sure, but it is close to a train track and the main road. Due to the flowing water you don’t hear it during the night, but allot of people come by during the day. So perfect for one night

Here you can do certificat de résidence for 2000cfa. Very quick, you only need your passeport and an adress in abidjan.

Super easy and fast border crossing. After half an hour we were in Georgia.

Fuel Stations (2nd is "Connect") with Diesel shortly after the border (2,90 Gel for Diesel).

Official parking and picknick area, illuminated during night. With toilets and picknick tables. Nothing romantic, but convenient and pretty quiet during night time. MTS signal okay.

It's a gravel road to some small village. during the day a few cars passed but nobody stopped to talk to us. the night was fresh and relaxing. it is a safe stop on your way to the coast, it's not hidden since everything is agriculture fields

Confirmed, you can drive with your car (even 2wd) to the top of the rim (in dry weather). It's about 6 km of washboard over gravel and sand, annoying but not difficult. It looks like Al Waba Crater but without visitor center, it's all nature. There's no path to go down but if you're keen you can improvise! We spent the night there and we were alone, very quiet. Camels and sheep around.
